Expected more
By CeC, 10/10/11
Booked this hotel for a 3 day conference I was attending in Austin. The office chair in the room had a large rip down the middle of the seat, walls are thin because I could hear my neighbors, and wasn't very clean. I was really disappointed seeing that this is supposed to be one of the nicer hotels in North Austin. I've stayed at the Hyatt Place just across the freeway not too long ago and will definitely be booking there from now on. Don't waste your money here.

Stuffed Up
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/13/11
All was good exect the entire time and every night in the room I would get congested. I thought Austin allergies, but the filter the AC/Heat was terrible. It looked like it had not bee cleaned in a year or more. My wife, showed up Tues, and bam the next morning same problem.

Grand Old Lady Past It's Prime
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/19/09
It has been several years since I have stayed at this hotel and I was shocked at how much it has deteriorated. I knew something had changed when we arrived and there was no valet attendant at the station. The elevator was dirty and some of the light covers on the panel were missing. It was obvious they had been gone for quite some time. We stayed in The Ambassador room and it was very spacious with a tremendous view but the walls and woodwork were very dirty and in serious need of paint. There were several places where the paint had been totally worn off not only in the room but in the halls. The once magnificent landscaping was overgrown and needed to be groomed. The staff was very friendly but it was so sad to see how such a grand place had deteriorated.

needs repairs badly
This was a disappointing hotel experience. The halls were so soiled and the carpets buckled. The room needed repairs badly. The carpet was nasty. The desk was broken. The toilet had problems flushing properly. I couldn't believe this hotel was affiliated with Hilton. I won't stay there again.

very enjoyable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/06
I HAVE STAYED AT THE DOUBLETREE TWO YEARS DEC 2004 AND DEC 2005 AND THROUGHLY ENJOYED BOTH STAYS. MY SISTER AND I STAY FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND WOULD LIKE A SMALL REFRIG. TO KEEP DRINKS, INSTEAD WE JUST BRING A SMALL ICE CHEST. OTHER THAN THAT I CANNOT THINK OF ANYTHING I DID NOT LIKE. THE STAFF HAS ALWAYS BEEN VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL.

Nice hotel, but poor service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/21/06
I liked the hotel, the building was nice, location was fine, beds comfy, but I had a horrible experience with the valet. He didn't offer to help with our bags, which is fine, we had to ask for a cart to help us carry it all. The valet let us load it up by ourselves and take it inside. Then he came with us to our room saying he had to escort us to make sure he gets the cart back. Either take care of my bags or don't, but he actually walked behind the cart as we pushed it and then expected a tip. The rest of the staff was fine, but very unfriendly. I felt like i was inconveniencing everyone that worked for the hotel. So i liked the hotel, but definately NOT the staff.

I liked everything about this hotel. I liked the comfortable beds and how clean the rooms were. The hotel itself was very taken care of.
