Perfect for what we needed
By Trish, 01/30/09
The Doubletree Hotel in downtown Houston was great. We stayed there during a convention. It was clean and comfortable. The restaurant was a little pricey for us, but there is a Subway and McDonalds within walking distance. We also ordered pizza from a local pizzeria that was delivered right to our room. There is a hotel car service that would take us anywhere in the downtown area for free! I will definately stay there again.

Double Tree Crooks
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/15/07
First let me start by saying when I arrrived , nobody was at the front desk, finally after walking around I asked someone that worked there , and they pointed me to the front desk where someone just happen to show up when I arrived there . I was told over the phone that I needed to use my credit card to hold the room , I told the person over the phone that I wanted to pay in cash , and they told me they would not charge my card , that it was just that they needed it to hold the room , right. I paid in cash , was not issued a cash reciept , and was billed on my credit card . I contacted doubletree about this matter and they yet to resolve it !!!!!! And they will not give me the name of the person who took my money , be careful , I know as you are reading this you are probably saying you should have asked for a receipt , I know and I usually do but was in a hurry and running late for a concert , I did get a receipt in the morning that was slipped under the door , it said 0 balance , but said in small letters settled to ds , short for discover card , be carfull , and go somewhere else , I planned on going back , and was even thinking of booking a party there , but now forget it !!!!!

It's perfectly okay
By BretT, 08/05/07
We just finished a stay here. The rooms are nothing special, the location isn't stellar. Other than that, it was fine. We walked from the Verizon Wireless Theater about midnight and encountered no problems. It's not across the street, but it isn't that far, either. Maybe a ten minute walk (walking, not shuffling) The hotel's staff is excellent. They were very friendly, efficient, and helpful. The hotel has a shuttle and it was no problem at all getting them to take us to the Hard Rock for dinner before our show. We were too late leaving the venue to get a return ride. All-in-all a good place to stay and a good value in a downtown hotel (compared with other cities). It's not glamorous, but it's a notch above average.

ggod place to stay if you know where your going
By John, 05/06/07
It is avertised as being close to theverizon theater...its about 8 blocks away. There are no really good places to eat anywhere near the hotel. The hotel food is over priced and not that tastey.

Simply Elegant
By Tawana, 05/26/05
I loved the simple elegance of the rooms. I had a nice view of downtown from my room window. The staff was very nice and mannerable. I loved my stay and visit to Houston and the Doubletree.
