Security Issue!!!! Avoid!!!
By spongebob, 12/31/09
My parents stayed here during November 2009. The front desk gave some men keys to the room at 11:00 at night. They tried to get into the room, and my parents called security several times. The men tried to kick in the door, and even then, the manager could not find security, as one security guard handles all 3 properties for the owner. Holiday Inn, The San Luis, and another property. When they gave the other men another room, they put it a couple of doors down from my parents room. Do not give up safety by staying at this property. It is not worth it. Eventually, the front desk hung up on my parents. Very unsafe place!

disappointed
By John, 12/11/09
We ususally love this hotel and will stay there again but were disappointed in the custodial staff. Our room was barely brushed over and they left dirty glasses around the room and bathroom. They never in the three days we stayed there emptied our ice bucket, and of course only changed the sheets when WE remembered to leave the card on the bed. The view is wonderful, the wind is knocked off the patio by walls even in Nov. and we will probably return, but please get better custodial staff.

Great Stay 8/24/08
By Laura, 08/24/08
Our room wasn't quite ready upon arrival but the front desk clerk quickly changed us to another room without hestitation. Everything was clean, the kids enjoyed the pool, and the staff were friendly. We'll be happy to stay again. As a side note, we enjoyed visiting the NOAA sea turtle facility that is on the street behind the the hotel. It's free & the guided tour is only about 20 mins. The turtles were soooo cute!

We will stay at the Hilton next year!
By A Yahoo! User, 08/06/08
We did not enjoy our stay at Holiday Inn! We got to the island about 2am and checked in. The room we were given had no air! When we went to the front desk to ask for a new room, we were given a box fan. No kidding! Can you believe it?! A box fan?! What's wrong with this picture? We have two babies! We insisted on a new room with air and after about an hour finally got one. This room had a very noisy air conditioning unit which, needless to say, was hard to sleep through. Even though the management made our next two nights better, it didn't make up for the inconvenience from our first night (we have two babies). We will stay at the Hilton next year!

A Big Disappointment!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/15/08
I've always trusted the name Holiday Inn to provide quality service and accomodate guests. This Holiday Inn has the most unprofessional, rude staff I have ever dealt with. This trip meant the world to me as I was introducing my nieces and great niece and nephew to their very first trip to the beach. We had 4 adults and 4 children ages 3 to 8. I travel for a living and am well aware that requests are not always granted, but when I call in advance and then ask again on check-in if we were able to get adjoining rooms and am told yes only to find that no we did not and can not get adjoining rooms this is unacceptable. Phone did not work, can't call each other. Not repaired. Room left open and unlocked after maid service (which had to be requested). No wonder the hotel is not responsible for items left in the room. The safe did not work. Water temperature tepid at best. I feel stronglythat the front desk staff ignored my phone calls and switched the calls to voice mail, after numerous attempts to call for additional items, toiletries, ash trays (why have smoking rooms if you don't furnish ash trays?). Additional charges were added at check-out. $642 for 2 nights - a bit much for what we received. The restaurant was horrible, dirty and understaffed. No additional coffee, was left for the next day - what's up with that? The breeze-ways are not cleaned daily. The pool is left open for anyone to enter, rather than a key entry. It was apparent there were guests in the pool who were not guests of the hotel! Feel free to check my Holiday Inn travel record under all of my priority club accounts, charge cards, address, phone number, email, whatever secret way you have - this small amount of business I've provided Holdiay Inn will cease unless absolutely the last hotel in the city I'm working in.

Would not recommend
By JEAN, 07/15/08
The only positive thing I can think is once I figured the shower was hooked up wrong(push in not pull out) on it did work. Bathroom had warm to hot water in the sink. No cold water. Phone did not work in one room that we were supposedly to have adjoining.Restaurant was horrid and filthy with sticky tables and no waitress that could count higher than 5 (we asked for a table for 8 and was taken to a table of 5.) Children could not open the door to the patio to see the rooftop view of the a/c units instead of the waves. No bath toiletries in the bathrooms of 2 rooms. One coffee cup between 4 adults trying to have coffee. I would think for the price of the room we could have stayed at Motel 6 and been happier. Pictures on website are not accurate, they are taken of the landscaped San Louis Resort next door. Pool left open all night for anyone to use off the beach. Not anyone helpful or polite when we kept having problems with our room and stay. We had to call over at 4:30 to get our rooms cleaned as they did not even bother to do until the day we were checking out. I would definately not recommend this hotel to anyone going to Galveston. This is my third trip in the last 2 years and never will stay here again. A crosswalk to the beach would have been great, but instead you just take your life and your childrens in hand crossing Seawall Blvd. If you speak Spanish you may get better service than we did. Maybe those who stayed in March had stayed at another Holiday Inn in Galveston. Obviously it could not have been the same hotel.

Will never return to this location again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/15/08
Although we confirmed (even at checkin) adjoining rooms 3 times (we had 4 kids in our group) we were not given them. Quite an inconvenience for our group. We were not stocked with toiletries even after asking, nor were there enough towels for the group of 4 in each room. (we brought our own beach towels so we were not depending on them for the beach) No creamer or sugar for the coffee. Rooms were not cleaned between nights until we complained. My bedspread was covered in sand when we arrived. Tried to use the hotel restaurant the first evening and walked out after noticing one waitress for a full dining area. No one was getting service. Balconies overlooked the top of the building below which our view included cigarette butts, bottles and other debris. Not an enjoyable stay to say the least. I would not recommend this location to anyone.

Roaches in the bathroom!
By Unhappy Mom, 07/05/08
2008-4th of July Weekend- We are a family on a budget; thus, we decided to spend the holiday weekend at an affordable, family friendly hotel. However, I extremely disappointed in this property. Specifically, the roaches in the bathroom. For the price of this hotel I AM DISGUSTED!!!! The staff is rude and the kids eat free restaurant has very poor customer service. The only positive of the whole stay was the beach view.
