Royal Hawaiian Continental Inn, San Antonio

The front desk staff and some of the maintenance staff were friendly. But as far as recommending this place to some on are you on crack!!! The maid service is not very good as a stay over guest you are required to wash your own towels and bedding but you are not allowed to refuse housekeeping even if you clean your own room. You are not allowed to cook in your room or at the least have a hot plate. What we are to eat out every night not to mention that the in house restaurant has been closed down by the health department. I have lived in many motels and this one is the worst how they manage to get people to stay is beyond me I will never stay here again I'd rather go to a homeless shelter or stay in my car instead of this nasty place.

This place is a dump! There are roaches everywhere. We went and bought our own bug spray!! The carpets smell of urine and mildew and marajuana. And maid service is mostly unheard of. The staff act shady. Their website is full of false advertisements, (rates, breakfast... [the attached restraunt is currently shut down by order of the health department, etc.]) And toilet paper will run you a dollar extra. If you lift up the sheets, the mattresses and box springs have all sorts of filth on them.

weekly rentals of 150.00 a week,seemingly to crackwhores and drug dealers.Really! and They charged me over 80.00 a room,not bad for SATX for a nice hotel/motel. But this is a crack den, with illegals doing maintenance/housekeeping, as best I can tell,moldy smelly rooms, cricket infestation when I was there. on top of that I think the evening and night people are on something also. so basically if you have money they will charge you 80 a night. and if you are a crack dealer or "head" you can stay for 150 a week. would not recommend getting in the pool if it were open which it isn't.

Well for starters it is now called just the Continental INN no longer Royal Hawaiin, but the sign is still up. The rooms are clean and dont smell bad which is great since they allow animals. they do a very good job of keeping the rooms clean. I have been here since the beginning of March 09 and the Pool has no water. they have been working on it since we got here. it now looks pretty with new paint but that is it. We came from Michigan to be near my Son while he is in AIT in the Army, we called them and we were promised that yes we would have, a refrig, a microwave, a coffe pot and air conditioner in room, free wifi internet and Yes they have a pool. we arrived, the clerk took our money, gave us a receipt then gave us a list of rules. and he even chuckled as he said I guess I should of gave them to you first huh?. Our room had none of the amenities. We did get a coffee pot for it the next day, but were told we were on a waiting list for the microwave and refrig. we finally did get them after a week and a half. Very small refrig. The air conditioner does not work well, it is no different than just a fan blowing cool air around. As of today the pool is painted and cleaned but no idea of when expected to have water. The internet is fast as long as it is running, but it is often down. Most of the staff are very nice and curteous. There is one that is nothing short of being down right rude. If you are not from around here, and you are not use to loops and one way streets it is very difficult to get around. And there is a very limited way of turning into the driveway here since they have many of the entrances chained off. if you miss the small entrance you will have to go and use the turn around to get back to it. The first two weeks here was very noisy with neighbors screaming and yelling and running all night long. but that has since been taking care of. We would not recomend this place, since there are other motels right next to it that have water in their pools and amenities like interenet, refrig, micros, and accept animals. we will be looking into one of these as soon as our contract here runs out.

I stopped by several of the area hotels during spring break, they all wanted over $100 a night. The Airport Continental Inn was the only one below $100 a night. The rooms were ok, nothing fancy and the staff was friendly. Very good price for what you get. The kids loved the pool and hot tubs. they went right to sleep after wearing themselves out.

Likes: Pool is nice-sized and pretty and clean. Hotel rooms are large and well appointed. Overall the hotel is clean and has wireless internet. Staff was helpful. Dislikes: Located close to train track and it sounds like it's running through my room. Fortunately, there aren't many trains, they go by quickly and this is an acceptable inconvenience. Also, internet connectivity is spotty and it comes and goes, but it's fast when it's there.

It's got wi-fi at our room we reserved, service is friendly and they have free breakfast. Room is generally clean. However there are some people wondering around the inn all looks weird and creepy and gives you an insecure feeling...
