Is it only Americans who whine?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/09
Yes this is an average hotel but it is not as bad as they all say. The people are friendly and the service is just fine. Memphis is an okay city and the location is great. I think most people do not spend the entire day/night in there room, if you do then go elsewhere this hotel is just fine. Maybe a little overpriced but you are downtown. I will say beware panhandlers all over the city!!!

Rebuttal to Bed Bug posting on 8/2/09
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/09
The Holiday Inn Select Downtown Memphis takes this type of complaint very seriously. While this guest continues to try and manipulate the internet and post harsh comments about our property, we hope that Yahoo Travel will post this to let everyone know who reads this site that our hotel had Orkin Pest Control come and do a through inspection of the bed, mattress, carpet, linens, furniture of the room this guest was registered in. We have on file a report written by the Orkin Pest Control inspector that states no findings of bed bugs or any type of bug fecal manner anywhere in this room as the guest claims. We have apologized to the guest that during their time in Memphis, his wife experienced some type of bite, however there is no evidence that this happened at our hotel.

BED BUGS!
By jdub, 08/02/09
BED BUGS! Wife woke up covered in them. Staff did not care! Night Manager said “I am not calling you a lair but” he offered to buy us 2 free drink in the lounge! I told him I wanted an new room and was told “I will have the sheets changed and if this is not good enough you can always leave” We were charged the full price for the night we stayed $143 and told to enjoy your ride back to St. Louis. AVOID THIS PLACE, there are better hotels that are cheaper don’t be fooled there is a trolley that runs to the Marriott and it is cheaper. The staff Wrecked our 10 anniversary! The long and the short! Rooms old and noisey, TV hummed when on and was old. Bathrooms are Very Small! Hotel staff rude and there is no parking. House cleaning did not clean our room the entire stay.

This a horrible hotel in memphis
By mister bill, 10/28/08
The staff and employees could not and did not assist tourists or paying customers. They will overcharge for rooms, the maximum price for holiday inns are printed inside the hotel room door, Beforewarned they will over charge you. The restaurant staff were ill prepared to wait or assist customers and should not be employed in a public place. no one is there to assist you to with your bags. Also they want you to park your own car. Outside the hotel are winos and beggers waiting to pounce on you, the hotel staff will laugh if complain about one little thing.

The Perfect Hotel and the Perfect Location!
By kim, 09/30/08
We just got back from Memphis yesterday. This hotel was WONDERFUL!! It was completely remodeled and the service was friendly and very helpful. the room was exceptionally clean and the room service was VERY cheap and delicious. Would highly recommend this hotel. Beale Street was right up the street (a 2 min walk) and all of the attractions including Graceland were only 5 min away. We can't wait to go back. We got a great deal on Hotwire!

Great Hotel in Downtown Memphis
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/04/08
My family and I visited during Elvis Week 2008. We had a great time. This hotel was in a great location for so much. We could walk to Beale Street and many restaurants and attractions. Going to Graceland was great. The staff at this hotel was so accommodating. They had written directions to everywhere we wanted to go. While the hotel was under renovations while we were there, you could not tell it. The guys who were doing the renovation were as nice as the staff at this hotel. Which is very rare. On Wednesday night we were invited to the General Manager's reception that is held in the Lobby. We found out that they offer this every Wednesday night to all the hotel guest. We had drinks and finger food for about an hour. It was really nice and unexpected. As a Priority Club Member with Holiday Inns, I feel that we definiately got our monies worth at this hotel and we will stay here again on our next visit to Memphis.

Loved the hotel and Memphis
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/21/08
This hotel has the most perfect location. I stayed here with my family and went to all the attractions. Graceland was interesting and we really enjoyed the Civil Rights Museum. The hotel staff were extremely accomodating and helpful. They gave us good directions to the different places to go. Nice pool and rooms.

Great Hotel and Great Location
By Helen, 08/19/08
I stayed at this hotel during Elvis week. The hotel is very nice and in a perfect location. We stayed in a nice room and were told they had just renovated it with new furniture which was very modern. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and telling us about the different things to do in the area. The outdoor pool was great with the beautiful weather we had and we enjoyed breakfast every day at he buffet. I would definately recommend this hotel. It's in a great location by all the restaurants and Beale Street. Thanks Holiday Inn.

Good location, for Forum/Beale St
By BigOrangeCrush865, 02/29/08
This hotel needs to be updated, elevator has serious problems, it just goes up and down between the 1st and 2nd floors. It has been like that for months now. Anyhow, good location if you are in town for a game at the Forum or just going to check out Beale St. Rooms are quite small, bathroom is ridiculously tiny! very old place. But conveinent to everything downtown, so take it for what its worth. Imo, not worth the money
