Beautiful, great location, but very noisy rooms!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/16/11
Loved the decor and that the hotel is located right downtown near everything. I walked everywhere, and there are shops and restaurants all around. The worst thing about the hotel is that you can hear everything in the rooms next to you. I had to turn up my t.v. just to drown out a guy's phone conversation in the next room that I could hear very clearly! Room service was great and the food was delicious.

The Ideal Place to Stay in Charleston
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/7/10
Stayed two days in Room 338. Huge handicapped-accessible suite-sized room, big bathroom w/bathrobes provided, lots of wonderful Victorian period-style furniture, very comfortable and clean, reasonably priced, valet parking, swimming pool, fantastic Sunday buffet, great room service breakfast, central to historic, museum and market district. The ideal place to stay in Charleston, and a truly great hotel experience. We'll be back!

Fantastic location!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/3/09
Very elegant and comfortable. Walking distance to restaurants, shops, and historic sights. Concierge was great. Pool and courtyard area nice. Very Charleston! Only downside was having a room with 2 double beds instead of queens for the 3 of us.

worst hotel I have been in.
By Bill, 7/31/09
Small room. very over-priced. It is nothing more than a Holiday Inn with a nice lobby. The concierge is rude and very unhelpful. The service is non-existent. Valet parking is a very bad joke. There are many nicer hotels in the area. WE WON'T MAKE THIS MISTAKE AGAIN!

The only place we stay in charleston.
By lesley b, 3/12/09
We stayed at the Mills House while enjoying the Food and Wine festival and our visit was perfect. The hotel was gorgeous as was the view from our room. The hotel is just steps away from the best restaurants and entertainment in town, that's if you even want to leave their comfy bars downstairs. The staff was kind and efficient. Tripp Hays was extremely helpful giving us suggestions for the festival and what else we shouldn't miss during our stay. He even remembered us from previous visits. I couldn't imagine staying somewhere else.

Great Location, poor value
By Buddy Ray, 2/21/09
The hotel's location is great historic district. That is all this hotel has going for it. It lacks many of the ammenities of other area hotels. The room was small, unclean and pricey. Never againI will I stay there again. There are many "as good" hotels close by and better priced. In fact it would have been a whole lot better to drive the RV to a site and used it as a base. Staff was snobbish and unfriendly. Breakfast was very lacking in taste and choice. Parking was tight but as expected. The only reason I was there was for a convention and it was still costly at "reduced" rates. My 2nd time, maybe I'll learn from these trips.

too small
By David Carlisle, 10/30/08
Great location, but bathroom and room way too small, bumped into toilet after shower, and desk in awkward location. Quoted reduced rate, but then raised rate, did make adjustment when we questioned it. Had to ask for sheets to be changed. Breakfast mediocre. pretty room. Not our idea of luxury.

Our Stay 05-31-08
By JULIE, 6/6/08
The Hotel is elegant, and the location is ideal for walking most anywhere downtown. We stayed on the executive level and found it to be quiet. Parking is either in a garage behind the hotel, or valet. Our room, for the price, was smaller than expected. The bathroom was very small. The service was not at the level of the prices they charge for the room. We had to call for clean towels, and they were hit & miss with the bed turndown. Breakfast might be delivered at the time you requested, or it might not. Overall, although its nice, its overpriced for what you get. Next time we will try another hotel rather than repeat a stay there.

Best Service!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/12/08
The service was excellent! We couldn't have asked for a friendlier, more helpful staff! The rooms were larger than average, the view was great! The whole experience was excellent! We will definately stay at the Mills House again!
