You can do better
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/1/11
This is an old hotel that has been refurbished is poor taste. The location is far from the city in a poor neighborhood. There are no resturants in the area and it may not be safe to walk around at night. While to lobby is spacious, it is not attractive with extra big chairs. The rooms are very small, the bath is so same that there is no tub only a shower stall. Even the clock had the incorrect time and was impossible to change. The windows were dirty and there was a $ 9.50 charge to use the Internet. Finally, the coffee pot was broken.

Mediocre - What you pay is what you get
By Karthik, 11/30/09
The service was ok, the onsite restaurant was mediocre. We booked through Hotwire and got for $67 a night. A very good price, but the room was so crampy, bathroom was too small, did not have a tub, AC was not effective, we felt claustrophobic and had the stuffy feeling. The price we paid was only for the star rating and location perhaps. The location was perfect, it was close to all regions we wanted to visit. The food in the restaurant was mediocre and expensive. But the stauff were friendly and polite. May be if we had paid a little bit more, we could have had a better room, may be its just us.

An Amazing Hotel!
By Cryastal Johnson, 3/27/09
The person at the front desk was very polite and she knew what she was doing. We checked in very late and she was as cheerful as the person was who checked us out int he morning! The hotel was very nice inside as well. Made me feel right at home!

THIS HOTEL HAS BEEN COMPLETELY RENOVATED
By Jeff, 9/8/07
Be advised that this hotel recently underwent a multi-million dollar total renovation by its new owners and has now converted to the Marriott brand. Every single inch of this facility was completely redecorated and renovated and it is beautiful. They have also added new restaurants in the hotel. Definitely a total 360 degree change. Check out the pics on their website and see what a difference!

Blessing in disguise!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/31/06
My son was in MUSC for one month and my daughter and I decided to spend a night away. We were a little scared when we first got at the hotel due to the construction but the rooms were amazing. We were pleasantly surprised as our room overlooked the River Dogs stadium which was nice. We will definately stay again when my son has his follow-up visit.

The Place Stinks
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/4/05
Worst hotel I have ever stayed. They could not find our reservation. First room they gave us was already occupied, second room the rug was soaking wet from a recent rain storm. Third room was okay but every time we returned to our room the key card wouldn't work. The staff was less then friendly and for all our problems all we got was a "I'm Sorry". Lastly, the overall cleanliness was very poor.

Don't ever stay here
By LaurieM, 9/24/05
This property was awful. Nothing was clean, the staff unfriendly and the rooms way over-priced. The best thing about this hotel is the location--if you're going to The Joe, that is. Anywhere else downtown is a hassle to get to from here.

good hotel for a reasonable price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/05
the riverview is a good hotel for a decent price. the rooms are not uber-nice, but they provide everything you need and are clean. the staff is all very friendly and helpful. they did't know where the closest bojangles was though (in case you're looking for it, it's 1.5 miles away...just hop on hwy17-S). the one downside is NO INTERNET, however the friendly front desk lady politely told me it was available at the Public Library, the College of Charleston Library, and Kinko's. but really, who wants to check e-mail on vacation?

Not as bad as I thought
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/23/05
After reading several reviews of this hotel, I was afraid of what I might get when we got there. When we arrived the desk clerks were very, very friendly and helpful. The weather had taken a turn for the worst and the people were very nice about helping with our baggage. I was very surprised when we got to the room, it wasn't not near as bad as the other review I had read said it was. Overall we had a great weekend, except for the bad weather. The hotel was very nice and so were the people who worked there. We enjoyed our stay and had no problems at all.
