Sea Mist Oceanfront Resort, Myrtle Beach

My family decided to have their family reunion at this resort and this was the first mistake. We booked two room without looking into the way the rooms are laid out; rooms are very small, even for two adults; the bathrooms are not clean very well for the price being asked; the door to the room would not close without you pushing it while inside or pulling it when leaving; the stove burners were very loose and wiring hanging very loose. This was my first and last visit to this resort, please, please don't believe the views of this resort on the internet; too much touch up!

I had booked a room with a ocean view. The view from our room was the hotel pool. Their was no parking. They say they are pet friendly but their is only one small patch of grass on the grounds with a sign posted keep animals off. I would never go back their again. when I complained about the room they said they would try to move us but I never heard from anyone.

loved this place...very clean... very friendly... lots of pools and a water park for the kids... minature golf.... room was great... hope to go back next year... if your looking for plush and vallet parking this is not this place to go... IF YOUR LOOKING FOR AN AWESOME FAMILY VACATION THIS IS PERFECT

My family of 3 stayed at the Sea Mist the second week of June this year in the Dunes Building. Having never been to the Sea Mist or Myrtle for that matter, we were quite pleased. Now I'm sure that there are much nicer hotels in Myrtle, but for a 5 night 6 day stay at a rate of $546.00 during peak season, there's not much room to complain! There were a few things that they can and should improve on (like a working toasters, and more silverware) but all and all we were very pleased. We arrived very early (several hours) and they got us into a room quicker than expected. Parking was never an issue the enitre stay. Housekeeping and maint. did a great job with our room, and any requests that we had. (mostly more towels) The staff was very friendly, and always took the time to say hello. I didn't have any of the problems that some of the reviewers have had. ( no bugs). If I could complain about anything, it would be the onsite laundry room. Most of the dryers were down, and the ones that did work didn't get very hot. I did love the location of our room, we did not have an ocean view, but we were less than 100 feet from the beach and on the first level, plus close to the parking garage, pool, and hot tub. When I return to Myrtle I will return to the Sea Mist for many reasons, and hope that I can request the Dunes Building again.

Booked a room with an "Ocean View" assuming that meant that it would face the ocean. Wrong!!!! The room was on the side of the hotel . That would have still been acceptable if there really was a view of the ocean. Apparently Sea Mist's idea of an "Ocean View" is the little strip of water that you can see over the roof of the hotel next door. Plus the place was shabby. The floor was dirty. The balcony was tiny. The door to our room did not lock when you left and had to be replaced. Parking is an absolute nightmare. It was an awful place. The one thing I liked was the free movies. The movie theater on site was pretty shabby but they showed some good movies while we were there.

If you’re looking for a hotel, that is a total disappointment, then welcome to the Sea Mist resort. I reserved a townhome at the Sea Mist as I have five children and a dog (my wife wanted to bring on vacation), so the space seemed to be a great idea. We could bring our dog which is close to 100 lbs, and was a full service resort with all the amenities for a family. We reviewed their web site; saw the great pools, lazy river, putt-putt, and more. Plus the package offered free meals, and access to the amusement park down the street. Super! When we arrived we drove past our room, and noticed the dog run. Which was attached to the parking garage? It was basically in a back alley, and was twenty feet long and two and a half feet wide. It was full of dog feces. The townhome was dirty, the kitchen was horrible, the beds and the linens were scary. It did though have a 10 year old 12" color TV. The advertized wifi was nonexistent. Not one picture on the hotels web site was accurate. The townhome would remind you of an old college dorm, or HUD special. I have stayed at better places for half the price I reserved this place for. I wouldn’t pay $200.00 for a week there. I drove down from Ohio. We didn't stay more an hour before I asked for a full refund... and I got it. Let me tell you why. While unloading the car, two doors down was a woman pucking out of her backdoor. Okay we can use the front door....but there were fifty people partying, smoking, and in various stages of undress in the front. I call the front desk, and they happily offered me two rooms, ocean side. Great! So my wife and I go over to check it out (don't worry my oldest son, who is in the military was protecting my young ones). We get to the front door were it says "no animals" and I ask the security guard if it is okay to bring my dog in and he tells me he doesn't care. Then he asks" Are you going in there? You have little kids?" We say yes, and he tells us "It's bad; if I were you pack up and just leave." The security guard said this! So looking at the glass half full we went in....just to check it out. We had driven 10 hours and had no other place to go. I wanted to give my son a nice vacation before he deploys. In the elevator the smell of pot was heavy, and empty beer can littered the floor. We get to the top floor, and still the same smells. The rooms were just as bad. We left 20 minutes later and drove back to Ohio. If this place could get in trouble for false advertizing they should. Nothing and I repeat nothing was like their advertisement claim. This should be ranked as a one star establishment. Good luck to all who stay there.

I booked a room online, a oceanview room. We were put in a room with a view of the other hotel and had to almost fall over the balcony to see the ocean. They said that's what they consider a view of the ocean. NOT. We requested another room and was giving a room with the oceanfront view, quite a bit different. Don't lean too hard on the balcony or you might fall. Out of all the properties of Sea Mist, I think the Driftwood building is the newest and best.

I was in a pet friendly bungalow, had put the pet in room sign on the door, came back in a few hours, my dog was GONE!!! No note, no message, called the front desk, they said they didn't know he was gone. Ran around outside, found him under a house three lots back. No one called back to check to see how he was or how I was doing, very stressed out, had stayed there before, but the lack of concern or any compensation, refund of pet deposit since they had put my dog in danger. Usually send me a review form to fill out, did not do that this time. Have left messages, no explanation of what happened, how they will prevent it from happening again. Very much a concern for me.

The family and I were very excited to take this short vacation upon my return from overseas as I am in the military and my wife felt it would be a great getaway upon my return. When we got there the place looked run down, nothing like what the web site advertises. The room we had was in a building called the palms (Great name but TERRIBLE ROOM). Upon approaching the room we realized the door was open and feared that we would be attacked by one of the thugs surrounding this hell hole. The only thing nice that I have to say is that, we were not attacked by a thug but there were roaches that came at us instead. My wife and I established immediately that it was time to go. The staff was nice enough to refund us our money back once I explained to them how horrified we were by our unexpected experience. We ended up driving up and down ocean blvd. starting at 10:30pm and finally found a room on the north side of ocean blvd. I wouldn't wish this experience on anybody especially coming back from a tour over seas. The pictures are extremely deceiving and I would love to actually see those people who claimed they thought it was great. I am sure those postings are fake. If you see the pretty pictures and think it is great, I beg you to first drive to the site before you put your family through my similar horror.

the seamist reasort was the most awful place my family and i have ever stayed. We planned a family back to school trip for the kids and when we arrived to check in we saw that the hotel(more like the projects) was nothing like the website or the brochure. This was false advertisement at its best. We checked into out rooms to see that the beds were extra small. The room was clean and but you could open the refrigerator while laying in bed. The stove was broken and all the eyes were popped out.the room is completely outdated. And worse of all the housekeeping staff had the nerve to knock on the door with an exterminator asking to spray the room for pest. And just as soon as they finished spraying roaches came out. There were strange people hanging outside my eating by my door. I felt very unsafe. We got the hell out of dodge as soon as we our our refund. Please dont go to this place!! Trust me, you will be disappointed.
