No quite my expectations
By Chawon, 4/9/12
I booked a room online, a oceanview room. We were put in a room with a view of the other hotel and had to almost fall over the balcony to see the ocean. They said that's what they consider a view of the ocean. NOT. We requested another room and was giving a room with the oceanfront view, quite a bit different. Don't lean too hard on the balcony or you might fall. Out of all the properties of Sea Mist, I think the Driftwood building is the newest and best.

They let me dog out.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/21/11
I was in a pet friendly bungalow, had put the pet in room sign on the door, came back in a few hours, my dog was GONE!!! No note, no message, called the front desk, they said they didn't know he was gone. Ran around outside, found him under a house three lots back. No one called back to check to see how he was or how I was doing, very stressed out, had stayed there before, but the lack of concern or any compensation, refund of pet deposit since they had put my dog in danger. Usually send me a review form to fill out, did not do that this time. Have left messages, no explanation of what happened, how they will prevent it from happening again. Very much a concern for me.

HHHOORRRIIBBBLLLE!!! DONT DO IT!!!
By Rafael, 8/22/11
The family and I were very excited to take this short vacation upon my return from overseas as I am in the military and my wife felt it would be a great getaway upon my return. When we got there the place looked run down, nothing like what the web site advertises. The room we had was in a building called the palms (Great name but TERRIBLE ROOM). Upon approaching the room we realized the door was open and feared that we would be attacked by one of the thugs surrounding this hell hole. The only thing nice that I have to say is that, we were not attacked by a thug but there were roaches that came at us instead. My wife and I established immediately that it was time to go. The staff was nice enough to refund us our money back once I explained to them how horrified we were by our unexpected experience. We ended up driving up and down ocean blvd. starting at 10:30pm and finally found a room on the north side of ocean blvd. I wouldn't wish this experience on anybody especially coming back from a tour over seas. The pictures are extremely deceiving and I would love to actually see those people who claimed they thought it was great. I am sure those postings are fake. If you see the pretty pictures and think it is great, I beg you to first drive to the site before you put your family through my similar horror.

SEAMIST IS A SEA MESS. DO NOT GO THERE PLEASE
By RUNTELDAT, 8/10/11
THE SEAMIST REASORT WAS THE MOST AWFUL PLACE MY FAMILY AND I HAVE EVER STAYED. WE PLANNED A FAMILY BACK TO SCHOOL TRIP FOR THE KIDS AND WHEN WE ARRIVED TO CHECK IN WE SAW THAT THE HOTEL(MORE LIKE THE PROJECTS) WAS NOTHING LIKE THE WEBSITE OR THE BROCHURE. THIS WAS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT AT ITS BEST. WE CHECKED INTO OUT ROOMS TO SEE THAT THE BEDS WERE EXTRA SMALL. THE ROOM WAS CLEAN AND BUT YOU COULD OPEN THE REFRIGERATOR WHILE LAYING IN BED. THE STOVE WAS BROKEN AND ALL THE EYES WERE POPPED OUT.THE ROOM IS COMPLETELY OUTDATED. AND WORSE OF ALL THE HOUSEKEEPING STAFF HAD THE NERVE TO KNOCK ON THE DOOR WITH AN EXTERMINATOR ASKING TO SPRAY THE ROOM FOR PEST. AND JUST AS SOON AS THEY FINISHED SPRAYING ROACHES CAME OUT. THERE WERE STRANGE PEOPLE HANGING OUTSIDE MY EATING BY MY DOOR. I FELT VERY UNSAFE. WE GOT THE HELL OUT OF DODGE AS SOON AS WE OUR OUR REFUND. PLEASE DONT GO TO THIS PLACE!! TRUST ME, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.

You don't want to go here, trust me!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/3/11
Parking was awful. When I got a space I hated to leave it because coming back one would not be found. Our confirmed oceanside room actually had someone in it when we first went to the room. We trekked back to the office, kids in tow. We were then given a room that was "poolside." We had to get a key remade because it did not work. Then when it did you had to really bump it with your hip and shoulder to get it open. The room opened into the underground garage! The door to the pool was rusted shut. It appeared to be the "pet room section." We never felt safe so we carted our valuables to the car (with a double lock trunk) rather than leave them in the room. At night we brought them back to the room. Towels were super thin. I can't believe we actually paid what we did to stay there. Should we have left? Yes, but I felt uncomfortable with the responsibility of finding another place for my foursome which consisted of 2 women with 2 young children and we adults had little knowledge of the area. Don't let the "family package" lure you to this place. A.G.

Seamist is a great value for affordable famiy fun!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/25/11
We spent 6 days 7 nights in a family suite in the dunes building. Upon arrival i was concerned upon bad reviews i had read that i chose the wrong hotel for my family of 5. Wrong! My 12, 4, & 5 year old cant wait to go back next year! Our room was clean (no bugs), the staff was so friendly, speedy check in/out, lots of ammentities, etc! We will never stay anywhere else when we return! We got the family package (went to the amusement parks, waterparks, pools, almost daily at no additional cost to get in.) The pizza pasta buffet on sunday nights was a huge highlight as the got balloon animal hats/facepainting as well. This place is a kids paradise plus its enjoyable for adults as well! They even called us over to the office for my daughters 4th birthday to give us 5 free tickets to the breakfast buffet plus a bouquet of balloons for her special day! If your looking for affordable family fun this is the place to stay!

Do not stay here!!!
By G, 7/13/11
I have never been so disappointed! First, I booked a handicap accessible room (which should mean no stairs, right?)... We were in the Dunes Building and 1/2 the rooms on each floor are only accessible by going up stairs. I promise this is true, call and ask! When I called the front desk, I was advised that there was nothing available that didn't require going up at least one light of stairs. My husband (who had recently had ankle surgery) had no choice but to climb stairs to get to our room. Once we got to our room, it was sub-par. The air conditioner didn't work it took several hours for someone to come and repair. There was a hole in the shower. The TV was at best a 27" with horrible, blurry reception. The floors were nasty - I wore socks the entire time! There was literally trash floating in the pools. There were ceramic tiles missing from the walls of the pool. The towels felt like sand paper. And the water park is a joke! The "lazy river" takes about 5 minutes to make a complete loop. Parking is non-existent, every time we left, we had to spend 30 minutes or more looking for a parking place when we returned. When I complained about the parking, I was told I could park in the lot 3 blocks away (an issue... remember the handicap problem?) The putt-putt corse is just about the only thing I can't say anything negative about. After 2 days, I decided I could not stay here another day. When I went to the office to speak with someone -a VERY rude 'manager' (named Rose) told me we could leave but I would pay for the entire trip as they have a no refund policy. We left, leaving our money behind. It was unbearable! I have 3 sons... I look for deals in order to make vacations affordable to us - from one mom to another, DO NOT STAY HERE! The pictures on the website do not give an accurate portral of this so-called resort. This was the worst hotel I have stayed at in a very long time.

We will be returning guests!
By Sandi, 6/11/11
Overall experience was wonderful for our family (whom we had 2 small children). We got the" Splash package" and I was unsure if this was going to be a good idea or not because we have always stayed on the North side and after reading some of the reviews but we had a wonderful time!! We went to waterpark during the day and every night to Family Kingdom (which was all included in are package). I would recommend any family who wanted to have fun to stay at the Sea Mist. We just got back and we are ready to back again. Service was good from what we seen we just had to call once when got into are room for them to come unlock are safe. All of the staff were excellent at what they all do from the hotel to the waterpark to Family Kingdom. Remember parking is just parking!

Nice Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/10/11
If you're looking for a posh, fancy resort head to North Myrtle. However, if you're looking for good accommodations at a great price I definitely recommend the Sea Mist. Yes, the buildings are older and could use some touching up, but our studio in the Tides building looked new. I don't know where those of you who say the rooms are small have stayed previously, but they're perfect if you ask me. The kitchens include an almost full-sized fridge, a stove, oven, and sink, with dishes, cups, silverware, pots and pans tucked away for use. The bathroom we had was a decent size and there was room to move around. I have stayed in pricier resorts at Myrtle Beach that only included a mini fridge and microwave, and the bathroom sink was outside of the bathroom itself. I loved the colors in the room, very "beachy," and the view from our balcony was spectacular. Furthermore, our room was clean, there were plenty of towels, and extra pillows were available in-room as well. For the money, you can't beat the on-site amenities as the Sea Mist is a community in itself. The only complaints I have are with the beds and parking. Beds are pretty hard and I recommend heading straight to the parking deck instead of looking for a place by the buildings. It gets pretty tight. As stated, if you're a person that's gonna turn your nose up at some sand in the elevator or some paint peeling off the weather-worn building, don't stay here...but if you're looking for value and very decent accommodations, try the Sea Mist.

A great value vaction
By none, 6/9/11
My family enjoyed the seamist resort...it was worth the money. People should remember that if you want more you have to pay more. Most negative reviewers wanted a grand vaction at a discount price. The rooms were clean and the staff friendly.
