We had a great experience- loved our unit!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/10/09
We were first time renters at the resort and we rented unit 429B directly from the owner. We found his website www.mymyrtlebeachresort.com which had great photos of the resort, the lazy river water park and the condo itself. This owner was easy to work with and had a few other units on the property. We would recommend dealing directly with the owner as we met other folks that rented from one of the rental companies and paid alot more and were very dissapointed. We recommend checking out Nassau Neds at night, they had entertainment almost every night we were there. We also enjoyed the lazy river water park. The complex was full of families and kids, exactly what we were looking for. We have already make our reservation for 429B for next year. We might also bring our friends with us. Definately a great spot for groups.

Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/14/09
The site was great, just far enough out of the chaos but close enough to it when you wanted some fun....the resort itself is well kept and has lots of activities.....I was however disappointed with the suite in the tower we had assigned to us....it wasn't very clean when we arrived, I actually moved the furniture to sweep and mop the floors, the couch and chairs all had stains on them, the blinds came crashing down in the middle of the night and awakened us with a loud crash, we were able to get them rehung but got charged a fee for the panels that were damaged. I purchased some items for the kitchen as we needed bowls etc, then got charged for "items missing", when in fact I left more than was there when we arrived....phoned in a complaint but no one has gotten back to me. Would we stay again, only if we got to see the suite first and only if the price was right......

Family friendly and very affordable
By MBR Fan, 03/27/09
MBR is a wonderful family resort. It has six swimming pools (two of them are inside - great for a rainy day) and a huge lazy river. Rent directly from a private owner from the owners' web site www.myrtlebeachresort.com and you get a much better deal. The prices are typically lower because the owner doesn't have to pay a commission to the middle man ( the rental company.) They have photos of their units and you can see the condo you'll be staying in ahead of time. You also avoid the time consuming process of checking in at a rental office. The owners mail the keys and parking pass ahead of time, so that when you arrive at the resort you go directly to your condo and bypass the lines at the rental offices. When you check out, you just mail the keys back to the owner when you get home. We are eagerly awaiting our annual vacation at the beach! We love the resort and are sure your family will too. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

rent from a owner not the resort
By sean, 08/27/08
just came back from a week stay with two small kids had a great time ..The resorts ground s wre clean the pools were great .We rented from a owner who CARED about his condo which is the key.when you rent through the resort you are getting the units that the owners either couldn't rent or just let the resot rent.which mean they are just looking for the rent.you can get a rundown dirty unit right next to a cean wel taken care of unit.We found our unit through VRBO.com and saw pictures and location on the site which you don't get when rented through the resort.Deal with a owner and there is no check in just get a lockbox combo or key sent..This was our first trip and we loved it and already booked two weeks for next year.

Myrtle Beach Resort 6/14-6/21
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/28/08
We enjoyed at wonderful week at the Myrtle Beach Resort. This is a great family resort. Tons of things for kids of all ages to do. Lovely grounds, great pools and lazy river. The kids loved the volleyball games that the teens and tweens played at night. Our condo was clean but a little worn. I saw some other units and they were very nice. The location of this resort was great as it was close to Broadway on the Beach, shopping, Murrell's Inlet and such. Our family of 5 loved the cabana and the entertainment at night. To the previous poster regarding the nightly entertainment at the cabana...The sign said No One Under 21 Without An Adult. And that was strictly enforced. My 14 and 12 year old could not get in without me or my husband. That did not mean children are not allowed in at all. They couldn't be there without a parent. This is a family resort. Most of the music and entertainment was geared for tweens and teens as well as adults. It was a lot of fun and we would go back.

Great place for the family
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/24/08
My family and I spent a week at The Myrtle Beach Resort (room 4114). It is a very quiet place and a great place for the family. Everyone was super nice and I even had one of the maintenance workers offer to carry my laundry to the laundry room. The place was very clean and well kept. The pricing was great. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

Our stay of June 14-21/08
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/23/08
Our family of four stayed in Building A, Suite 149 (2 bedroom). Overall, the Unit was well maintained, & the resort appeared to be well managed. We have no major complaints. The positives: 1. Relatively quiet, and adequately clean, upon our arrival; 2. Lots of kitchen cabinet & counter top space, and all appliances in working order. That is, the refrigerator & microwave were virtually new, & the electric range worked fine. (We did not try the blender or the dishwasher). 3. The beach was nice & clean, albeit breezy on most days, with some rainy weather; 4. Large deck; 5. Large dining room table (seating for six); 6. Good water pressure; 7. Bathroons clean & large enough; 8. Free wireless internet in room; 9. Televisions in bedrooms & dining room; 10. Walmart & Kroeger stores close by; 11. Lots of cable TV channels to choose from. The negatives: 1. Bar & designated bar area was more like a night day care center than a bar. Very young children everywhere - even though it was posted that no one under 21 was supposed to be there - this "rule", was, unfortunately, not enforced by the management, & the parents obviously did not abide by the rule, either; 2. No umbrellas at pools. Things repaired, needing repaired /suggested improvements: A. We replaced clock battery & it then worked fine. We also purchased a few non-essential items, such as a good sharp knife, a pair kitchen shears, a small charcoal grill & a nice scented candle, which we donated to the future enjoyment of tenants; B. Flourescent light bulb out over sink; C. Sharp protrusion at floor level on dishwasher needs attention to avoid potential injury of guests; D. Remote was missing for TV in master bedroom, so had to get up out of bed to change channel, adjust volume or turn off & on; E. Chests of drawers & other bedroom furniture missing knobs & slightly out dated; F. Toilet seat needs replaced; G. Ceiling paint dingy, mostly due to bright white walls in contrast; H. Closet paint not finished (looks like someone just ran out of paint & then just left it - so part is blue & part is white; I. Could use new flat screen TV's, throughout; J. A stereo & or a radio would be nice (especially since there are lots of good radio stations to choose from; Overall, the Unit was in good shape, with the exceptions noted. The great thing is the unit could be made "top notch" with a small financial outlay. As stated, the beach was great. There were a multitude of shopping opportunities & large numbers of restaurants to choose from. (Perhaps that is why so many people staying at the resort were obese - children included.... There were lots of entertainment opportunities as well. We went to an IMAX-3D show Monsters of the Sea, & were thoroughly entertained. We also attended a show featuring two Irish tenors & Irish Dance. It was $30. per person, & was good, but well over priced. We found our dining experiences somewhat tedious, with long lines, in general. The food was average in most places, but was moderately priced. The resort did not provide housecleaning during our stay, but it was not a problem & the Unit did not smell of mold or mildew. END

30 DAY CANCELATION RULE!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/31/08
We decided to book a family trip to Myrtle Beach spur of the moment over Memorial Day weekend. I booked the trip online via Expedia on 5/19 at 11:35 pm. I found out the next day that it was "Biker Week" during the time we were going to be there (not exactly an environment you want to expose toddler to) so I immediately cancelled the reservation online via Expedia at 2:35 PM on 5/20. The Myrtle Beach Resort charged my credit card, anyway, for $600 because they stated they had a 30 day cancelation policy. How can they enforce that policy when they allow people to book 4 days in advance? I had to call several times to explain the situation and every person I talked to was snippy and rude. They refused to refund my money no matter how nice I was or how much I begged. I can understand charging a cancelation fee or one night at the hotel, but this is six hundred dollars....six hundred dollars!!! I am now opening a dispute with my bank. Please beware people - once they have your money they've got you!!!!!!!!
