The Driftwood on the Oceanfront, Myrtle Beach

Overpriced--charged 129.00 a night for a studio. Old, old, old hotel--key barely worked to unlock the door and the deadbolts weren't very secure.I did not feel safe in this hotel. Kept all my locks on while in the room and went and got my 38 out of the glovebox.. Carpet and furniture stained and outdated. Parking was terrible unless you parked across the street. The maids didn't even understand english let alone speak it. The only good thing was the view fom the balcony. Plus they didn't have a ground floor for loading and unloading your luggage cart. You had to use the service entrance and push it up hill to reload your car. The luggage cart was so crappy that I sustained a high anlke sprain trying to push it up the hill and missed 2 weeks of work after my vacation. Like I said the only good thing was the fabulous ocean views!!!! And I could have gotten that at a much better hotel for the price I paid.

This was my second and last stay at that hotel. The service was awful. The maids didnt even know how to MAKE A BED. No way to shower the first day and a half. Oh, they did give us a small refund. Wooohoooo. No way would I recommend that hotle to anyone. As for any likes, cant think of any.

Advertised in roomsaver magazine for $89 per night. When we arrived they charged us $169 per night. They said it was because the only thing they had was an ocean view suite. We were charged $169 for a view of someones big truck parked in front of our window. They offered to move us but wanted to charge us MORE! The room had an odor, Overall condition of the facility was bad. Elevator was broken (heard that complaint from another guest). Daytime desk attendant was not very friendly. NEVER AGAIN!!! inquired about room rate but they offered no explanation nor any money back. BEWARE!!! make sure that you get your room rate in writing BEFORE you check in. Many other places that are nicer for less money.

You know the old saying, if it seems to be good to be true, it probably is? Well, it seemed to good to be true, on the beach for 45 dollars a night... well it was only worth about 10 just because you would have a roof over your head. It was run down, not too clean, and smelled like we were a few days late for the frat party that took place in our room. Do not go there unless you only need a roof over your head!

Advertise 31.00 per night on the computer. Then they call and say it should be 63.00 per night. thats over double what the price was on the computer. BEWARE Rip off

We like the location, the rooms and the people. We did not like some of the rough kids that were staying on the first floor but that was not the Hotels fault.

I am a stay at home mom and our budget hasn't allowed much money for vacations in the past. My daughter is 9 years old and I really wanted to enjoy some time with her at the beach before she got any older.I Booked 6 days. For the money it is absolutely the best place to go.. My daughter and I made some memories in the ocean that I will never forget. I would'nt have been able to do this if it had not been for the Driftwood's prices. I know it's not the nicest hotel, but, it was clean, the staff was helpful, and the location was great. I saw no rats or bugs at all. I have already rented the same room for next summer, and, my husband didn't fuss a bit because he knows we'll be going ocean front at the Driftwood!!!

The only thing good about this place was their rates, but for a little more, you can stay somewhere very nice. First of all, the descrition states "3 modern buildings" well, they may have been modern in 1964, but not now. As soon as I drove up, I knew I was in trouble. The elevator smelled like urine and sounded like it was about to break down!! The people staying there looked like they just got out of prison. The room was nasty. It smelled really bad, the carpet was filthy, the towels in the bathroom were wet, there was trash on the floor, the bed was nasty looking, had hair in it and was rock hard. After being in the room for 3 minutes, I knew we could not stay there. We went back to the front desk and told them we were not happy and would not be staying. The men working were very nice, but would not give us our money back for that night, only for the other 2 nights. Overall, if you care about staying in a place that is clean, avaoid this place. if a clean place does not matter to you, and you do not mind a rough crowd, then stay here. The location is great, you could park there at the hotel walk anywhere you wanted to go

we loved the cheap prices for a oceanfront view of the ocean...we stayed for 7 days and 6 nights and it was great!! We had two beds, a balcony, a kitchen and bathroom, with a balcony that overlooked the ocean and beach. There were stores and resturants that are all in walking distance too!

My husband and I stayed here for the first time in Mar.2007, also first time at Myrtle Beach. We found the hotel to be clean, staff friendly, basic room, nothing fancy, but we enjoyed. First 2 days hotel was quiet, 2nd 2 days were not so good as far as noise level, room next to us was rented by young people who liked to sleep during the day and party at night, disturbing. Overall we would stay here again but not over a w/e.
