Caravelle Resort, Myrtle Beach

When we made our reservations we were told that the room might not be ready until about 4pm due to cleaning, etc, but when we arrived at 11:45 am the room was already finished. We went straight to the room and found that it was completely stocked with everything you could possibly want - the kitchen had a dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, blender and every utensil you would need to cook a meal. There were 3 TV's in the whole condo (one in each bedroom and the living room), 2 full bathrooms with beautiful showers (wall had seashell shaped places to hold your soap, etc), there was a stackable washer and dryer unit, and our room was connected to the pool area. All we had to do was open the sliding glass doors and we were at the pool! Everything was clean, it was really quiet and everyone seemed so friendly. We called for extra towels and only had to wait about 30 minutes for someone to arrive. After we saw the room we headed out, we eventually made it to the main complex area. Inside we found a pool, a kiddie area which included these buckets that would splash you with water when they filled up, a small lazy river and a hot tub. It connected you straight to the beach through a walk way that held an outdoor bar area. We stayed at the Harbourside area and it is only one block over from the beach and all in all we had a great time. Would definitely love to go back some day! My only regret is we didn't have ceiling fans in the bedrooms, we got a little hot during the night, but the beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean. I plan to recommend this place to all of my family and friends.

Being that I saw the reviews on how great Caravelle Resort was I was really looking forword to my stay. Upon entering my room 511 I was shocked to see a light fixture and a aircondition cover laying around on the floor. I put these items into a closet. I had my DO NOT DISTURB sign up all day. Come to find out someone entered my room and took them. Why are you going to enter my room without my knowledge!? Cigarette butts on the balcony floor. There was a sprite bottle left in the freezer. The place was clean but could use a DEEP cleaning. When I checked out I brought this to the attention of the front desk lady. Needless to say it seem to go one ear and our the other. The lady gave accuses for the things being remove that "there might of been a work order put in" I don't care. Do not disturb means just that. The deep cleaning issue she said "this is the time of year the do this" why give me a room that needs to be done. The other issues she said "why didn't you ask to be moved". When I checked in the assistant manger said 511 was the best room. I can just image what other rooms look like. Needless to say I won't be back, and make sure my family and friends won't use Caravelle Resort as their stay. So many other choices out there.

Where do you start? Not only is the place a dump once you see it in person, but myself and friends went down for the Myrtle Beach Marathon, and while we were in the neighboring room, staff stole my digital SLR camera, my duffle bag full of clothes, and jewelry from my locked room!!! Come to find out, they have a procedure for handling these things (must happen more often than they admitted to me), but they couldn't use the procedure because it was "the weekend and those folks only work weekdays." Managers were no help, had flippant attitudes toward the situation, didn't seem to care, and simply told us to call the police. My husband called them from home while we were talking to the police, and two different managers hung up on him. It's also "not the policy of the hotel to refund money for the weekend stay." I would recommend a total boycott of this place!!! I had seen a bunch of terrible reviews, but went with it because it was listed on the Myrtle Beach Marathon site. Big mistake! I would never recommend this hotel to anyone! Even if you have a shoestring budget, it will cost you big time in the long run to stay at the Caravelle...

Hotel elevator went down and the working one took ten minutes to come if it was not to full to get on.The maid was awful. We had two wash cloths for four people and they act like you really want to steal their towels. I explained that we did not have enough towels and she still asked for old ones. Then we waited the next day for like two hours to get towels after room service did not come. I made my reservation for an executive deluxe and I got the plain old regular suite and the beds were to small. They overbooked and someone walked into my room while I was in there. Luckily I had clothes on and we had just gotten back from the beach. The only positive thing was Susan she was wonderful and i can't blame all this on her. This was my fifth time staying in a ten year span. I will not being going back!

I stayed at this hotel in 2007 and 2008 and my family loved it. In 2008 I was upgraded to a king jacuzzi suite, but paid for a one bedroom suite. The suite was wonderful! This is by far, my favorite hotel in Myrtle Beach.

We planned a last minute anniversary get away and was devastated when we checked in here. The lobby was gorgeous and the exterior of hotel was nice but the room did not compare. All the furnishings were new in our room but there remained cracks in the wall and tile was dirty. I was not happy but could have lived with it. THEN I opened the shower door and was knocked out by the smell. We immediately packed up and checked out!!

I would recommend this place if you are definitely trying to save money. We paid $153 a night which is really cheap during the peak season. I would rate the pool a 6 out of 10. Really enjoyed the beach but it would have been nice at any hotel. The rooms were not as clean as they should be and the renovation that they just did really didn't show throughout the hotel. The bathroom smelled really bad and I wouldn't even take a shower in it. We had a wonderful time at the pool and beach but I wouldn't stay there again if I had the choice. There are better hotels on Ocean Blvd. By the way, the kitchen in our room was terrible, the stove was falling apart, the microwave door handle was lying on the stove because it had broken off before we arrived. We made plans to go to Myrtle Beach only a week in advance and didn't have alot of options. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for individuals who are really picky and like things extra clean.

My husband an I stayed the week of may 26-30,2009 the room was dirty places offered to go eat at or to try out the icecream shop , was closed we are only opened at this time or that time .You know when you would like icecream ,you want icecream or anything else .This was our time for R/R not to be stressed out.I left my jeans and bathing suit my falt I know,but I called the hotel manager yes we have it you can come pick them up, I live only 11hrs away,I had family go there the first wk of july, the housekeeping manager said they still had my stuff my sister went to the hotel to pick it up.guess what they know clue what she was talking about .Dirty,dishonest and I would not recomend anyone to stay

To many dislikes to list and would never return. We left several days earlier just so we could get out of this terrible place. Don't let the attractive web-site and nice pictures fool you, the Caravelle is an old resort with a can over it. Terrible everything.

Where to start?!? The boast a 2 million renovation - but basically they polished a turd. The spent the money on wallpaper, carpets and countertops - nothing that mattered. The stove was falling apart, there was no counter space to cook, the pots and pans were a joke (the utensils actually melted to the pan on medium heat), the silverware was the cheapest crap you could buy and the refrigerator would freeze things on the lower shelves. And this was the executive suite - ha. The leg on the coffee table was broken and I called the front desk three times. "We will send maintenance up right away" - ummmm...nope - never showed - the entire week we were there. If you are going to spend the money for a two bedroom - go to the Beach Colony. They have two bathrooms and a waster/dryer in the room. I really thought we were upgrading - what a huge dissappointment. The only plus I can give is the housekeeper was excellent. That's it - the stay was garbage. Oh - and if you expect flat panel TVs as in the picture - forget it - I got two puny flat-SCREEN (Not Panel) TVs the size of a toaster (which by the way, the toaster was also a piece of junk).
