evicted and double billed (May 2007)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/4/07
EVICTED from the commodor suite ($844 per night) after 1 notification (approx. 12:15am) at our our door from an extremely rude front desk clerk for noise complaints. No prior phone call, no security warning, nothing. We made a phone call to the front desk about the rudeness of the hotel clerk and was told we would have to speak to a manager in the morning. We kept quiet and were almost asleep when 4 Newport police officers and 1 security guard were at our door 45 minutes later (1:00am) to evict 4 business men age 35-37. One police officer actually said he didn't know why they were called. The hotel DOUBLE BILLED us for the room ($1,688.44), which caused much confusion with the dispute department at Discover card. The dispute is still pending....
Note: after talking with the hotel manager, he said the night clerk had security come up many times. When I asked him to produce a time log from the independent security company verifying this, he could not do so.
Rude staff, zero tolerance noise policy and a mangement staff that needs a dose of common sense. Stay elsewhere! and please continue to post any reviews of this nature...
