I'd turn back if I were you

I only wish I had come to this site before I plunked down nearly $300 to stay at this hole ... in the off season, no less. We were coming to Block Island for a family funeral and this was the recommended hotel. Why? I simply cannot imagine.
Let's start with the worst thing: Noisy, noisy, noisy. The proprietors should warn guests that they have a BAR on the first floor which will keep you up till all hours. Whoever wrote in an earlier review "oh, don't worry about the karaoke" must have been a plant from the Narragansett. They may not have karaoke any more but noise, they continue to have in massive doses.
Next: The inn is in the middle of nowhere, so if you come to the island without a car (which many, if not most, people do), you'll feel like you're in prison after dark. The hotels in Old Harbor may not be great, either, but at least if you're in town, you can walk around and get something to eat. Which leads me to:
Next: Absolutely nothing to eat, not even a vending machine with a stinking candy bar, after the dining room closes. So at 9 p.m., back from the post-funeral gathering which included lunch, not dinner, here we were: Me, my husband, and my two teenage sons, without a cracker until morning and all this horrific noise going on downstairs so we couldn't even sleep!
Next: The rooms are totally spartan - plank wood floors, sand all over the floors - not even a single simple cotton throw rug. We were among the lucky guests - at least we had our own bathroom. But we paid dearly for it.
I've traveled all over the world in my 50 years and I have never had worse accommodations anywhere.
In the morning, we were darned if we'd pay another ten bucks per person for breakfast, so we cut our losses and got the heck off the island on the 9:30 ferry!
The people writing the supposed five-star reviews must be friends and family of the owners. Do yourself a favor and give this place a big miss. Sorry this is so long but I think people should know the full story.
