RUN AWAY QUICKLY!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/11
Stayed at this hotel during hurricane evacuation. Was triple charged for my one night stay and have been waiting two weeks for someone named "zak" the night auditor to call me back. On my last attempt to get ahold of "zak" I was yelled at by the front desk. I'm aware of at least two other families overcharged for that weekend. Hotel was STILL being remodeled and was dirty. No wi-fi working on upper floors only in the non-existant lobby and there is NO lighting in this place. outdoor pool closed and indoor pool was a cave. Going by other reviews on her in the past, this hotel has a history of overcharges. Heading for my lawyer's office in the morning to have him handle it, I give up.

Rudest desk in hotel history
By narrowly escaped, 10/21/08
This is soooo no longer a HolInn. I had a res for Sat as a surprise for our anniversary (we had stayed at that HI 30 yrs ago). I fell on Sat and it is clear that I will not be celebrating our anniversary this weekend. I called to cancel the res made through the Hol Inn website back in late Aug/early Sep with intention of rescheduling it to later in November. The man who answered quickly told me that he couldn’t cancel it since it was made on-line. I would have to go on-line and cancel. This is an impossibility since they are no longer IN the HI system. He claimed to consult with his manager and came back saying “she agrees, have to cancel on line.” I immediately asked to speak to her since that was an impossibility. He demanded to know why I wanted to speak to her, I slowly restated my problem and he broke in and said if I continued to speak to him that way, he’d hang up. I was NOT yelling or cursing, I just wanted someone with either ears or a brain, though I didn’t even say THAT. He hung up on me. I called back three more times and he consistently refused to put me through to the manager, finally saying she wasn’t there! Fortunately, Hol Inn customer service helped me. They called, got “Matt” and he said he’d cancelled it as soon as I called, though the Hol Inn rep said he had some difficulty coming up with the cancellation number. There isn’t enough sentiment in the world to convince me to return to that hotel. If this exchange is emblematic of the service at the hotel, they will be closed very shortly. I can say I have had confused desk staff, chatty desk staff, staff who were wrong, but in all my years of travel, I have never, ever, encountered such incredible rudeness and stupidity. Now that I read the rest of the recent reviews, I might actually be lucky I injured my neck on Saturday.

The Customer Is Always Wrong
By Andrew, 10/9/08
There was nothing to like about this dump. Our room was moldy, dusty, and smelled. Our tub didn't drain and after battling with the front desk, they finally decided to send someone up. The maintenance man did nothing to fix the tub and proceeded to yell at my wife. After an additional verbal beatdown from the clerk, they finally gave us another room. The longer we stayed, the worse it got. On the second night half our TV channels disappeared and the air conditioner had a mind of it's own. The ice machine was never fixed even though several guest begged for them to fix it. The most disturbing thing is the staff demonstrated that they were not willing to do anything to help. Not even "I am sorry for your inconvenience." At least lie and say "we will look into it." They couldn't even do that. It was like we were bothering them. If you like staying in places where you need to scrape the cheese off of the bath tub floor, this is your special place. The staff and building are despicable. Thank you for giving me a benchmark to measure against. This place is the worst. If I could I would give it at least a -200.

Improvement
By Summer, 10/8/08
I had written an earlier review about how horrible this hotel was. I called the hotel because I was overcharged. I called Holiday Inn Corportate and found out they were no longer a Holiday Inn "member". I was going to call the hotel one more time before I disputed my credit card charge. The person on the phone helped me immediately and aplogized. She credited my card $28 per day for the overcharge and $25 per day for the hassles we incurred. This makes me feel somewhat better.

Horrible
By Summer, 10/7/08
We stayed at this hotel on 10/03/08. My room was dirty and moldy. There were no towel racks or toilet paper holders. My tub would not drain and was very moldy. There were no blankets and hair in the towels. When I called to get it fixed the maintenance man yelled at me. I was finally given another room, which was slightly better. To top it off they over charged me. I was told it was $91 a night and was charged $119 a night. They have not refunded me any money yet.

This service is good even at night!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/4/08
I liked the service at front desk on 3rd shift Friday night, I asked for towels and got them quickly from helpful, friendly, security guard. I disliked the negative publicity about the hotel that was on the news.

Horrible
By Mom, 8/12/08
The hotel was being renovated. There was construction material everywhere. Only one elevator was in service, and we had to share it with the construction crew. The room and bathroom were dirty. The pools were closed.

hotel in bad shape!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/08
Hotel is in a great location, and our room was sort of clean, but we did find some garbage and items left over from other guests. Also, hotel is undergoing renovation, and so far the work is sloppy, our room seems to have been just renovated, the room smelled like paint, and the paint job was terrible. Paint stains all over the air conditioning unit, holes in the wall, etc. the door rattled like crazy everytime there was any movement in the hotel to the point where we felt that someone was coming in all the time. The bathroom was like a closet. The service was nice, but there was definitely some confusion when we checked in; there were several groups that were assigned rooms that weren't cleaned or already occupied. One nice thing was the indoor heated pool, well kept and pleasant. Outdoor pool was closed for renovations. The hotel was decent for one night, but I definitely would have checked out if we were staying any longer.

The worst hotel, I have ever stayed.!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/7/08
We knew the hotel was under renovation, but our room was full of dried on dry wall paste. the A/C-heater, the curtains, the bathroom door everywhere. Who ever is doing the remodeling, should be ashamed, of their workmanship. The bathroom had no paper, the bathroom door had a hole instead of a hook. The tub had a rip in the permenant mat. If this room, was one of the newly renovated rooms, I really hate to see the rooms in progress. It really was deplorable. We took our granddaughters, to breakfast, between 8-9AM. There was only one other customer in the dining room. When we ordered, we were told there was no bacon, chocolate milk etc. Unbelievable.

Hotel is Horrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/20/08
Aside from the great job that housekeeping did the rooms are so outdated and they had no extra guest supplies available. After several attempts to get a refrigerator delivered to my room and meeting "attitude" from the front desk the executive housekeeper went out of her way to make sure that we recieved one and accompanied the young man that delivered it. The restaraunt staff were very unfriendly and had the attitude that we were disturbing them. The food was highly overpriced for the amount and quality that we recieved. It was a Denny meal at best. So all in all I would say that the this hotel needs some serious staff training and renovations.
