Nice rooms, slow service, poor parking
By AqG, 10/29/07
I've stayed here at least 5 times in the last few years. The Somerset Holiday Inn is a good one, & they have a $65/night coupon in those coupon books you find at turnpike rest areas that’s good for up to 4 people. Clean rooms, good room service, a smoky, dirty bar w/a nice bartender, a laundry facility. The restaurant serves a great breakfast – especially pancakes & sausage. However, their scrambled eggs aren’t that good & the service is extremely slooooooow but friendly. Seriously, though. I've tried explaining I'm in a rush to get back on the road & have ordered breakfast from my room even to be ready when I come down, & I'm still left waiting 30 minutes! And they need more, better parking. But at least a gas station is by the property so you can gas up before heading out. If I remember correctly, the pool has always been closed whenever we've been there.

Great Price but Pool was MIA
By Lady Macbeth, 6/5/07
We booked this hotel for 2 reasons one was the great price we got thru yahoo. It was half of what other hotels wanted to a holiday weekend. Friendly staff, clean rooms, and comfortable bed. The second reason was the nice outdoor pool that was in the listing. We got to the hotel to find that the pool was closed for the year. My son was devistated. Had we known we may have paid a little more for a pool.

We will never stay there again...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/06
Everything about Holiday Inn at Somerset, PA was fine. The problem arose when we got back to the motel the first evening about 10 pm. Apparently, they have weekend entertainment that attracts tons of local residents. There is not enough parking when this happens. The same thing happened the next evening after being out all day. We got back to the hotel and there were cars everywhere. Guests had to park on sidewalks and under the eave by the registration area. I complained to the desk about this. Of course they apologized. Then we had to walk all around the motel to get to our room because of where we had to park. When we finally got back to the room, the music was unusually loud and we could hear the boom, boom, boom of the bass. Once I finally fell asleep, the entertainment was done and then the very happy people were very loud, beeping horns, car lights were shining in your windows, and waking every one up. This is enough not to book a room there because they do not tell you about this weekend entertainment. Somerset and the surrounding areas are beautiful, but there are enough other choices to stay at that will make your trip enjoyable...unless you like to lose sleep and walk a long way to get to your room in the evening.

Stay Here For The Rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/31/05
Looks like a '40's era HoJo from the outside (green paint has displaced the orange), and the lobby and stairwells are musty and uninviting, but the rooms here are really great. Brand-new furnishings carry a green and cherry wood theme with black and silver accents. They even have high-speed internet!! If you're looking for a new hotel, go for the Best Western, Days Inn, or Hampton Inn, but once inside the room at the Holiday, it's hard to tell the difference. And hey, who else offers a hot room-service breakfast -- coffee and juice included -- for $6.95?
