Nevermore, Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/11
Other than the recently renovated lobby/bar area this motel resembles something out of an old horror film. The walk to our room was especially bad. The balconies are supported by temporary reinforcing commonly used in construction for holding/jacking up an existing structure. The ice rooms off of the breezeways more closely resembled an unfinished basement. They were poorly lit, filthy and covered with debris. When we arrived at the room, the door looked as though it had been taken from an old prison cell. The paint was badly chipped, the door was dented with rusted screw holes from where they changed the lock, and a gap between the door and the frame so wide that the room was freezing cold the entire night. Upon entering we were greeted by the overpowering stench of cleaning solution that clung to our hair and clothing the entire trip. It's pretty ironic considering the room itself was filthy. The carpet had a giant brown stain right in front of the door and there was garbage from a previous guest under the bed. The absolute worst was the bathroom. The tub was caked in limescale, rust and soap scum, and the drain plug was left sitting on the edge of the tub covered in filth. It didn't help that the lights barely worked and the tile was a hideous olive green color. Additionally, the loud drunken bikers and the transsexual escorts did nothing to help improve our experience or the overall ambiance of the motel. The only positive was the staff, who were more than accommodating during check-in and assisting us with a room change request. Unless they undergo a major upgrade to all of the guest rooms, I would never consider staying here again.

Run far, run far and fast.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/11
The first room we were put in didn't have a functioning lock on the door. Shower was disgusting with dirt and lime buildup. We switched rooms - which was even worse. The room also had an odd smell so we kept the door open to air it out. The problem with this is the drag queens and bikers had full access to the room. The bedsheets felt like a burlap sack and I'm honestly surprised there weren't any bedbugs. Trash and dirty laundry littered the "breezeways" while signs warned us not to enter certain rooms. I'd compare this to the Bates Motel, but at least the occupants of the Bates Motel never made it through the night to experience such awful conditions.

Not Recommended
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/11
The room had a distinctly musty smell and in turning on the AC to try to clear it up, the cover of the AC controls fell off because it was broken. The furnishings are dated and the bath is tiny with old fixtures and tiles. There was no remote for the TV. The breakfast table was soaked through the linen with water, there was a very limited selection of continental breakfast items and, being held in the bar, the overall appearance did not look particularly clean. While eating breakfast (I had a couple of muffins that looked ok), the worker that just finsihed putting out the food got out the mop bucket and proceeded to slosh away with his mop right behind where I was sitting. Why could this not wait until the breakfast time was over? It also made me wonder what other cleaning activities he performed prior to touching the food he put out. Needless to say, that was the end of breakfast. On the other hand, the lobby and front desk area appeared up to date and the front desk personnel were extremely helpful. The same effort put into refurbing the lobby should be put into updating the dilapidated rooms. Until then, I would not consider staying here even if the room rate was cut in half.

No Bedbugs
By Doug, 8/9/11
We do not have bed bugs, nor have we ever had them. We purchased all new bedding in February and as part of that process, all of the mattresses and boxsprings were covered with barriers to prevent bed bugs. In addition the barriers were installed when the bedding was unwrapped from the factory packaging. We also have regular pest control service at the property and investigate immediately any report of a pest in a room. It is unfortunate that we cannot prove that the one comment is not true- it has been seen and questioned by a number of guests. Thank you and contact the property directly with any concerns.

A Nice stay for our wedding guests
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/1/11
We checked in 10 rooms. Everyone had a good experience. This place is on a rise. We were a little worried about some previous feedback but our experience was very nice. Breakfast was great!

Bedbugs!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/11
My a/c broke at home so I stayed here because I frequent the pool. My first concern was a poorly operating a/c, what was really upsetting was the bed bugs. Huge ones! The night staff was very responsive and moved me to another room immediately. The a/c worked great in this room, however, it too had bed bugs! Check your room very very carefully before sleeping in the bed or unpacking anything! I ended up having to find a room for 4 nights, the hotel I ended up staying in had no issues with bed bugs....I checked!!!

In Town for our Son's Wedding
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/9/11
We liked the fact that the reservationist went out of her way to help us by setting up light refreshments between the ceremony & reception for our guests. She helped me with anything I needed or questioned, no matter how many calls or visits I made. We found no one in our party of 39 rooms to have any complaints about the cleanliness of the rooms. On an average of 1 to 10 (10 the highest, I would give the hotel an 8 and the young lady who helped us a 10. However, there was one thing I believe the Ramada should change about their policy. After booking 39 rooms, setting up a party for our guests & spending a lot of money at the bar, both before & after the reception, the bride & groom had to pay for their room! When we questioned the manager, we were given a lame excuse & really, no reason was given as to why the Bridal couple had to pay for their room. In fact, we know through experience with our other children, that other hotels do comp the bride & groom's room. That would be our only complaint. It would be nice if the Ramada changes that policy, especially if there are more than 10 or 15 rooms booked for a wedding. However, our thanks for all the help we were given. Everyone had a wonderful time & despite the one complaint, we would recommend the New Hope Ramada.

Stay away from this DUMP!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/20/11
NOT AS ADVERTISED, do not trust their website? That website is a horrible joke to play on people, I think it had pics of some other hotel. I'd rather stay in Bates Motel than this hole. The elevator smelled like a wet dog, every hallway has peeling paint - the room was just as disgusting. The ONE redeeming quality was that they had a new-ish bed. Completely embarrassed to take the significant other to this DUMP!

Affordable Luxury
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/22/10
The Ramada New Hope is under new ownership. I had heard rumors of the reputation and read reviews form old stays but nothing since the new owners took over and the name Nevermore intrigued me. I called and I spoke with the reservationist who was extremely helpful and made me feel at ease. She explained that the new owner had just purchased the property. She explained that some renovations were under way and that rates were much lower now while they were converting to Ramada standards. She asked the purpose of my stay and I confided I was proposing and wanted to make it special. She immediately offered the newly remodeled room and asked what else she could do to make it special. The Staff made arrangements for an impressive boquet and wine basket to be placed in the room before check in. At check in I was overwhelmed they even thought to put glasses and cork screw in the room. I hadn't even thought of that! I have never had that kind of attentiveness! They offered to make reservations and even though room service was not available the kitchen staff made us tea and brought it down to the room. I never felt pressure for the upsell just a genuine committment to my personal satisfaction as a guest. if you wonder what happened to great small town service with a can-do attitude its at the RAMADA NEW HOPE! Their attention to detail and helpful planning helped me pull of the most important day of my life! All I can say is WOW! We will be back!

Under New Ownership- Exciting Plans!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/6/10
Thank you for taking the time to express your interest in the Nevermore Hotel! We are happy to be a part of the New Hope business community and look forward to getting to know our friends, guests, and the community at large. New Hope is truly a unique destination and offers diversity that is refreshing and exciting. During my first week as the owner, I have received many inquiries regarding the Nevermore and its gay friendly status. We vow to be inclusive in every way, being a part of the great tradition of New Hope as a community. We will continue to do all we can to service New Hope’s entire community with intentions to develop long term relationships with all residents, visitors, and businesses. I would like you be one of the first to know that we are making some exciting changes over the next few months at the Nevermore. • Prices have been adjusted from $125 weekdays and $155 weekends to a new lower pricing structure starting at $74.99 weekdays and $129.99 weekends (special events and holidays excluded- bookings of ten rooms or more eligible for special discounts) • We are in the process of developing a partnership with a national hotel chain and will announce the decision soon. • We will soon begin phase one of our renovations and upgrades to the property with an emphasis on the guest rooms and the exterior of the buildings. • We have signed with Bob Egan, the premier entertainment agent in the area to develop a new approach to the events and shows at Bob Egan’s- New Hope. Bob will be working towards an entertainment philosophy that is broad based and offers high quality entertainment in the lounge and cabaret areas. The cabaret showroom has been underutilized recently. Through aggressive programming, Egan says he hopes to return New Hope and Bucks County to a must play position on the live music and cabaret circuit. • We have recently begun to implement our new menu, including sushi on Friday and Saturday nights. We have taken the best from the menus of two of our other businesses- The Knight House Restaurant and 86 West , and coupled them with our experienced culinary staff here at the Nevermore. We will work toward developing a new approach to events and large parties including weddings, receptions, corporate events, bar mitzvahs, and celebrations of all types. It is our hope to make the Nevermore a destination for the entire East Coast…….. forevermore!!! Looking forward to seeing you, hearing from you and earning your loyalty and friendship in the future Tom Frank Owner tom@thenevermorehotel.com
