Great Value - Not a 4 star Hotel
By heatsink01, 8/21/09
We just returned from Hershey Park for the week. We received the family & friends rate of $85 a night (a bargain). The hotel is not a 4 star hotel, so don't expect luxury! The room was clean, the air conditioning worked great, the outdoor pool was huge and also clean. The hot tub was very hot a couple of days, cooler other days. The "Seasons" restaurant was decent, kids eat free with a limited menu (we have a 6 and 7 year old, so this was good.) The hotel is right off of 283S, approximately 25 minutes from Hershey, and 20 minutes from Harrisburg. Very good location for activities, like the Civil War Museum, or the Nationals minor league baseball. The service was good, what you would expect for a Holiday Inn. The carpet inside the guestroom hallways is outdated, but I am not paying for the carpet so who cares. The fitness center had 3-4 machines, and a TV which I used early AM. A small game room for the kids had 5-6 pinball machines (was OK).. The indoor pool was clean, not too big (we didn't use it). A large shopping center is right outside the hotel, has a Target, Friendly's, Pizza, and other shopping which worked after Hershey Park (not crowded, like in Hershey). Overall, we received a bargain for about $85 with tax a night, normal rate via internet was about $139. I would have paid the $139.

Great Hotel Great Location!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/15/08
When we arrived at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised at how nice the lobby was. We were greeted by very friendly staff and our check in process went very quickly. The carpet and paint in the hallway to our room could have been freshened a bit but the room was immaculate and the beds were sooo comfy. The pools were great, the restaurant had a reasonabley priced menu and kids eat free as a bonus! We will be back. Great value for the price.

Nice but needs more staff and fresh paint
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/23/08
I liked this place because of its location right across the street from the Sheraton where my organization was holding its meetings. The 2 pools were great. The service from the security staff who helped us to sign-in when we arrived after a 5 hour drive in the rain and in construction on the PA Turnpike.... They helped us carry our bags all the way down the long and maze-like halls to our room.Thank you very much! Great touch! The hotel needs to be moved up on the list of hotels to be repainted, updated and redecorated. The halls of tan, beige, carpet were fine but the accent with chartreuse was unpleasant. The carpet was well worn and it appeared to be tread bare. Once inside the room 357, the furnishings and the color decor was much better. Very nice, clean floor, all sizes of beautiful fluffy white towels, and beautiful bed linens and pillows. Other than updating the halls with paint and and new carpet -- The most jarring feature to me and my main complaint about my entire experience was that -- there is a lack of 90 degree right angles inside the room. This was disorienting and it made me dizzy. Whenever I looked up to the ceiling from my bed, I saw lines that were parallel running across the ceiling but when they met the wall above the headboard... they were not perpendicular to the wall. When I stood up - the corners of the room were converging in acute angle... I guess this is a new complaint to you but it would take me a long time to adjust to the angular environment of that room. TY

Needs Some Work
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/16/08
I liked the playground area for the kids. The indoor pool was being fixed and we weren't told when we booked room. Upon going into our room, there was a musty, stale smell. Noticed carpets in some areas that needed to be steam cleaned. Was rushed by waitress in restaurant one morning when we wanted to look at some booklets. Had pre-paid and was charged again! They have free in room internet hookup but you have to pay to use their computers, not good.

Never Again
By Sox07, 5/13/08
The lobby was very unattractive and musty, and the staff seemed very callous. Our room seemed like it wasn't even cleaned. Change was still left on the night stand, the bathroom floor was wet and dirty and the beds were stiff and very uncomfortable. The indoor pool area seemed so unsanitary, I didn't want my kids to hang around there.

very nice hotel
By clay guy, 8/22/07
We like the hotel, it was very nice. Clean and very good for families or for couples. I stay there again, very good location to highway. Nice pools {one is inside} and hot tub. The internet service is a pay service, if you use the internet cafe.

Great Bargain!
By Fred, 7/8/07
Very hospitable staff. Had easy access to Hershey but got some great recommendations on things to do in the area from the employees. Hotel had a phenomenal prime rib and seafood buffet on Saturday.

Warning to handicapped travelers
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/20/05
The hotel is on half a dozen different levels. It is a mobility-challenged person's worst nightmare! There are a dozen steps to get into the Lobby, and an antiquated lift which was out of order when we arrived. They have only one very small elevator and construction workmen sometimes haul their huge wheelbarrows of debris in it. Their handicap rooms have only a queen-size bed, not two smaller beds or a king-size which would make sense. You can't use a regular room because the bathroom doors of regular rooms are only 23" wide. The dining area is about 8 steps up from the lobby and wheelchairs must use a lift like a large old phone booth alongside the steps. I was stranded in this lift for more than half an hour when the motor lifted it about a foot and stalled. Their backup plan is to take handicapped people up in a freight elevator and through the kitchen. Also our bed was so hard I had to sleep on the folded spread to cushion it. The employees do their best to be helpful, but if you are handicapped, this is a hotel to stay away from until they install ramps and equip their handicap accessible rooms with a king, or two twin or full-size beds instead of one queen-size bed. (They have the space.)
