The staff was very friendly at this hotels especially Kyle, he was very helpful! The rooms were very spacious and nice, they were also very big! All rooms have a balcony so that is a great feature (wonderful view of the bridge!!!!!!) Continental Breakfast was also good with a nice selection. We can't wait to return and remember, this hotel is your hotel when visiting Astoria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MOTEL
By ,
We had reservations at the Red Lion Inn in Astoria and thought it would be a decent hotel. Earlier in the week I called the motel and told them I needed double beds in a non smoking room. The front desk confirmed my request and I didn't much about it. When we arrived there the front desk said they didn't get my request and the all the rooms were sold out. By the way customer service was not up to par either. They were young boys who could care less about your stay. I ended up with a queen and a roll out bed. When we got into the room there was pet hair all over the comforter and sheets. Obviously, they have not been changed. The toilet still had poop stains in the bowl and the shower had hair in it. Again, they did not clean it. It was very disgusting. I do not recommend this motel to anyone.

Great Views, Awful Batrhrooms
By ,
Pros- Awesome location, Great views of the Columbia River, Balcony that overlooks the harbor, Friendly staff, Pillow top beds, Newer linens, and wonderful soap. Cons- The bathroom(it was very outdated and dirty), The overall structure(uneven walkways and stairs) I grew up in Astoria and stayed here while visiting my family. It was nothing like I remembered as a child. I miss the restaurant.

needs a facelift

Great location, but this motel has seen better days. Remodeling and opening the restaurant back up would help it immensely. The harbor is a very nice view, but the rooms are tired and the whole place is kind of sad if you remember it from better days.

Time To Retire
By ,
This hotel is located in a great and scenic location. Excellent views of boats navigating their way up and down the river. Another plus was the staff which is very accommodating and attentative. That's the good. Now for the not so good. Unfortunately, this hotel has seen better days-- as it's a worn out and tired facility. During our several day stay for a large meeting in Astoria, we noticed a number of homeless people rifling through the garbage cans at night. And if you're not an early riser, be ready to be awakened by loud voices at o-crack-hundred in the morning as the sailors man their boats in the harbor right outside your balcony door! Net, net, it's time to head to rehab or scape and rebuild! This horse has been ridden once too many times and I would look elsewhere before staying there once again.

Quiet relaxing place
By ,
We frequent this hotel. If you want quiet relaxing atmosphere this is good. The Views are great watching Cruise ships and other Ships come in. We choose the far side (away from the entrance and away from the noise of the harbor. Sit on our balcony with views of the Pacific Ocean and the Columbia River drinking our Coffee. Morning Breakfast is nothing real special but better than other hotels offering free continental breakfast.

Wonderfull stay
I won't write a lot, except to say that the room was so nice, we stayed an extra day to enjoy it longer. The beds were extremely comfortable as they are extra billowy pillow tops. We were able to watch ships coming into the Columbia River and pass by our room. Although the view isn't neccessarily pretty when it is daylight, it is beautifull at night. On a side note, the town was very enjoyable to visit. THere are a lot of different things to see and do there. The people were friendly, and my kids enjoyed it so much they want us to move there. Of course they also want us to live in The Red Lion Inn, so I don't think that will be happening. I highly recommend this hotel and this town.

Great room, clean, balcony overlooking a marina perfect for sitting and enjoying the view, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Felt like you were getting an authentic Astoria experience. Easy to walk from and the trolly is right there if you didn't want to walk. Everything about our stay was perfect.

Not good at all!
By ,
On our recent trip to the west coast we picked the Red Lion Inn, Astoria. We drove up and immediately thought things were a little sketchy. I went inside to check in and the front desk clerks were very nice. We had no problem checking in and were clearly directed to our room. As we rounded the corner of the hotel towards our room we noticed one of the local homeless digging through the trash bin. When we entered our room we looked around and noticed a VERY dirty bathroom with used soap still sitting in the soap dish in the shower with dirty foot prints all over the floor. Not only was the room dirty but the whole hotel is NOT air conditioned. As Virginians we were not prepared for the lack of air conditioning, especially since we were in Oregon during the heat wave of the century. We ended up quickly checking out of the hotel, siting our nasty room and the lack of air conditioning. The hotel manager was very apologetic and quickly refunded our money.
