It was just "ok"
By Rita, 5/31/10
We were there for just one night and for some reason when making the reservation, I thought it was much closer to the water. It really isn't. The front desk was helpful in directing us to the beaches, which are a 15 minute drive away, so that was good, but I think we could have stayed somewhere else. HIghlights: the helpful person at the front desk who directed us to the beaches and recommended a really good restaurant (The Blue Heron) 2 blocks away. Otherwise, the rooms are not updated and pretty, and the area is not that great. But again, not the worst place I've ever stayed.

nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/20/07
beautiful pool & hot tub! nice rooms, HBO, and cable tv. the staff was friendly even though an older man yelled at me and my husband because he thought we were making noise when we weren't. overall, i'd go again if this particular not-so-gentle-man is not there.

The highlight of my vacation!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/13/07
On our road trip from central CA to southern OR, this was my absolute favorite hotel. The pool was absolutely beautiful! It had murals on the wall, pretty tiles, and was very spacious. The employees were nice, and they were eager to help their customers. Although at the time of our stay, the parking lot was out of service, the employees were quick to find us a place close to our room (top floor) to park our car. The breakfast was delicious, the concierge gave us directions to Safe-Way (less than 5 blocks away, and helped us with guessing the amount of time it would take us to get to our next stop. (Fort Bragg, CA) The beds were comfortable (my grandmother was asleep in an instant), the cable TV was great, the shower was better than the one at home, and there was a buisness center downstairs. (a computer w. internet, and buisness supplies) I would recommend this hotel for your next stay!

What a DUMP!
By Allen, 7/23/07
This Best Western Motel is sandwiched in between 101 northbound and 101 southbound. Our room was 2 doors from 101 northbound and the traffic noise was horrible. The room was dark and dingy. I asked for a king size bed but we got a queen size. After Lysoling down the room, the front desk called and asked if we were happy with the room. I told her no and the reasons why. She asked if we used the bathroom yet and if not she would move us to a second story room. We had already carried our luggage into the room and we weren't about to carry it all back to the car and do the Lysol thing again....we were exhausted from driving all day. The next morning my husband got a cup and put some tap water in it from the bathroom to brush his teeth. He said "look at this." The water was urine yellow!!! I immediately took the cup to the front desk. The hotel clerk was on the phone and there were some people getting their continental breakfast. I showed them the cup of water and they said "oh yeah, we noticed that yesterday when we arrived." I showed the clerk the water and she said "Oh yes, the city just had a water main break this morning. I told her "the people sitting over there said it was like that yesterday." Then she tried two more excuses which didn't fly. She had dealt with this water issue many times because she admitted that she had gotten lots of complaints about the urine colored water. She was totally unsympathetic and shrugged her shoulders as if no big deal. We have stayed at many Best Western Motels throughout the westerns states, and I must say the Coos Bay Best Western is by far the worse one! Never again!

Great Location but...
By JamaicaFriends, 7/15/07
This is an older hotel but it was clean and the staff was nice. They were working on the parking lot and we had to park a distance from the room and carry our stuff - noise early in the morning. This made for a frustrating stay. Breakfast was ok - not as good as I am used to at Best Western's. Great location!

Good for this price range
By Katherine, 6/4/07
For the price I paid, I considered this is a good accommodation. We appreicated that we were given a room with a fireplace. The room is comfortable. The location is excellent.

Way over priced
By JaneN, 10/23/06
This hotel was awful. There were un savory characters lurking in the paarking lot. The room had no working heat. Staff didn't seem to care that I was freezing to death in my room. Beds were hard as rocks. I might have been better off sleeping in my car.
