Probably won't stay again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/23/09
The beds were wonderful....but you Need to train your housekeeping staff. If this place was fixed up like it should be it would be beautiful. The hallway at the top of the stairs smelled VERY musty. The lobby and the the room where the fireplace was....was very nicely done. Too bad the rest of it isn't. The sports lounge next to it.....food good...service BAD!!!!!!

Not worth the money!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/29/09
I booked this 3.5 star hotel through Priceline only to find out that the hotel was not a 3.5 star, maybe a 2 star! The hotel was old and to get to our room we had to go through a door that goes through an alley to get to the other building where our room was. Any one could walk through the building unnoticed! There was no breakfast/coffee offered and the resturant next door closes at 10am and the lounge won't let kids in the eat!!! The hotel is on a strip of 82nd not close to any other food, so we had to go to the lounge and order food to go. What a pain!!! I will not use this hotel again for pleasure or business!

Do it yourself HOTEL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/2/08
Don’t know how this hotel even got a 3 star rating. The Service at this hotel, from 1 – 5 it’s a 1. It was impossible to get a straight answer from staff, wanted to get some information on where to go site seeing or to the SPA, front desk clerk said that “she wasn’t from Portland, therefore she doesn’t know much about the area”. Laughed and didn’t even look at us while speaking to busy clicking on the computer. The second time we called from the room phone busy forever, then walked over to get an idea about lunch restaurants near by……On a personal phone call waited for over 5 mins, when the clerk was done she just looked at us, as if what we were even doing there. ” NO elevator! No luggage service and no one will ask. Staff attitude very rude and snappy. Front desk couldn’t even tell us how to get a freeway/highway to get to Beaverton, OR. Dinning at the Hotel very slow service, couldn’t order room service no one to bring up to room, we had the front desk telling us more than a dozen times “I am the only one here you have to come to the front desk and get it your self” Got take out, called front desk for cutlery, again asked us come to the front desk and pick it up, walked over to find 2 plastic forks, then told me that they didn’t have any. Overall very, very poor service. The Bar at the Hotel again very slow not very friendly, filled with smoke. Walked in sat down at a table then Waited for about 10 mins then realized have to order at the bar to get drink. The room we stayed in had 2 beds, have to say “Very comfortable beds” lots of room for ppl of 3. The internet in the room slow, no signal. If you need a quick nap and get up and go then waist your time at this hotel. The air conditioning worked well. The Tub filled with water, when showering asked to get it fixed while out, never happened. The room was clean; all the doors slam shut, walls very thin. The vent in the bathroom, facing up not down, not working. The light bulbs in the room not earth/energy friendly. Got very hot in the bathroom because of this. We attended a wedding near by therefore the location was convenient. Overall I would rate this Hotel a 1 star, I have stayed at other Red Lion Hotel’s and never had a single complaint. I would not stay here again. Was suppose to stay for 3 nights left on the 2nd day am.

Good Business Travel Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/23/08
The condition of the outside of the structures, particularly the stairwells definitely gives one pause. However once you're in the room this is very comparable to most of the three star business hotels I've stayed in. It's a struggle to term it a hotel based on the separate buildings with no elevators but if what you're looking for is a good night's sleep it's a great value. In stark contrast to the timeworn and poorly maintained stairwells and walkways, the rooms are quite well appointed and very clean. The beds are stellar, Simmons pillowtop Posturepedic matresses. I had reservations about noise given the proximity to the airport but it was not a problem. I'd definitely return.

Motel with pretty comforters
By Cassandra Q, 8/26/07
This should not be considered a hotel, since there are approximately four buildings, none of which have locked access. Anyone could walk into a buildings and knock on or knock down your door. In fact, the glass on one of the unlocked doors that provided access to our building had bullet holes, which upon further inspection, indicated the shots were fired from inside the building. Comforting? Hotel like? Not really. My advice to management is to at least replace the glass so guests won't be alarmed at the sight of the holes. Also, be aware that you'll be asked to sign an agreement stating that you won't smoke in your room, and if so, you will pay a $100+ fee. However, the first room we were assigned smelled like smoke. Then, upon being provided another room, it too smelled. Just wanting to sleep, and faced with unfriendly front desk personnel, we decided to tough it out. Also, if you are traveling with a vehicle, be prepared to circle the parking lot several times before finding a parking space. To add to the adventure, the electricity was out the the final morning of our stay, meaning we showered in the dark and had to forego any grooming habits that entailed the use of electricity, such as blowdrying. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the furnishings new. And, the hotel chain is trying to impress with Bath & Body Works products, which upon use, are definitely low end products that Bath & Body Works can slap their name on and the hotel can live in a make-believe world that it's joining the ranks of other hotel brands. My final piece of advice (as a frequent traveler) to management is that the people representing your property are key to a lasting impression. A lasting good impression that is.

This is NOT a Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/23/07
This is NOT a Hotel. While the rooms are updated, the rest of the property is in disarray. It is not a self contained 1 building hotel. There are several buildings that you either walk or drive to, then enter an unlocked open access hallway to access your room. Basically, anyone can walk right up and knock on your room door without ever passing hotel staff. The parking areas are inadequate and poorly lighted. Security is non-existent and the area leaves you with a feeling that you are completely un-safe staying there. I feel misled by the star rating and the photos on their website. Service was not in-line with ANY other 3 star hotel I have ever stayed in. Front desk clerks were unkempt and abrasive. My room was not cleaned every day. When it was cleaned there was always something forgotten (towels etc.) I also had to wait to both check in and check out as there was only 1 clerk at the front desk at any given time. Again, I will state this IS NOT A HOTEL! Hotels are expected to be self contained in 1 building with secure inner hallways to access guest rooms. Although the rooms at this facility face an inner hallway, that hallway is accessed from an open stairwell and doors that have NO locking mechanism (not even a door handle). I would describe this as a Motel 6 with granite countertops! Better choices in the PDX area are The Embassy Suites and the Hilton Garden inn. I have stayed at both of these hotels before and they make the Red Lion look like a motel that should be rented by the hour!
