Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront, Portland

The only problem we encountered was our bill at check out. As we were attending a business conference, we had asked them to split the billing for extras to a personal credit card. They billed my personal credit card for all of it, even though the room was confirmed with a corporate card and we held the discussion both at check in and check out. Read the bill carefully before walking away from the desk even if you are in a hurry!

I like the location, however, I am not satisfied with the cleanliness of the room. The service is good and the hotel staffs had been very helpful during my stay.

The hotel is in a nice location. Some rooms have a view of the Willamette River and Mount Hood, if the weather cooperates. They accommodated my son and his family with a crib and portable refrigerator, no charge. The riverfront park across the street is a great place to enjoy the outdoors in the middle of the city. However, I had an unpleasant surprise. The hotel does not have free internet (a given in most other places I have stayed) and my Verizon i-Phone had 4 bars for phone and text messaging but no 3G data service. In order to get 3G I had to cross Naito street into the park. It appears the hotel blocks the 3G signal so you have to buy their internet.

I have stayed several times. The staff and service was great. If you trying to save some money I'd suggest using SweetHotelDeals. Net

I have stayed at Marriott Hotels all over the country as a business traveler. This hotel is the oldest one I have stayed in, but they are completing renovations. I don't enjoy the overall ambience of the halls, room, size, etc. I didn't really mind because I am here on business. What I do mind is having my room be inhabitable for hours during the day which I paid for. They do not tell you on their website or during booking, but they are completing renovations on the outside of the hotel. When I went into my room at 11 in the morning, there was a man in a huge gas mask and extremely loud sander on my balcony. My room was smelled terrible and the air was so dusty that I didn't want to breathe (I guess that was the point of his mask). I had a conference call that I had to reschedule because no one could hear me over the sound of his machines. I asked if he could come back to my room later and he gave me the sign for 5 minutes. 15 minutes later, I had to leave because my ears couldn't stand the noise. I asked the front desk if there was anything they could do and how long he would be there. The woman said that they work from 9-5 during the summer. My room could not be used until they left at 5 and they did not even say I'm sorry for the inconvenience. You will be paying a large sum for the room, $30/day for parking, $13/day for wireless. I would never suggest this hotel to anyone.

Nothing to dislike about this hotel, staff or service. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. When we go to Portland again, we will stay here. Service in every area is excellent and beyond. Staff is welcoming but also friendly and helpful. Rooms are beautifully furnished and appointed, food is very good in both restaurants, in hotel shop is well stocked and location is, of course, very good wherever one wants to go in the Portland metro area.

Our stay at the Marriott was a fluke, but this is my idea of a spa hotel. The hotel where we had reservations was unable to accommodate us due to rain damage, so they put us up at the Marriott for our first night. Everything was plush and impeccable, with an unsurpassed view of the river. Since our entire stay was covered I can't comment on the room rates or parking, but room service was a bargain. On a budget it's probably not the place to stay, but we still felt that they provided indulgence at an exceptional value, even at their regular rate.

GREAT LOCATION AND BEAUTIFUL VIEW'S. THE STAFF IN PORTLAND WAS FANTASTIC AND GREAT. VERY COURTEOUS AND ON THE BALL. WE ATE AT 2 OUT OF THE 3 RESTAURANT'S AND THEY WERE GOOD. THE SPORT'S BAR WAS GREAT AND OPEN LATE. VALET PARKING WAS A LITTLE PRICEY BUT YOU WERE ABLE TO GO IN AND OUT EACH DAY AS MANY TIMES AS NEEDED.
