You pay $140 to see the ocean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/14/08
That's what it comes down to. Brown water in the jacuzzi -- AFTER you walk across a parking lot to get to it. W-A-Y over-priced. Uncomfortable beds; old tv and room furnishings; floors made out of plywood - they creak whenever you walk; NO noise insulation between rooms. For this prime spot of land, why doesn't some developer plow this place down so they can put a QUALITY resort there.

Roach Resort
By CandiS, 10/22/07
The room was not cleaned properly. There was food in the sink, old coffee grounds in the coffee maker. The mattress was very uncomfortable (we could feel the springs). My husband woke up with 19 bedbug bites on his shoulder. When we notified the hotel about our experience the manager appologized for our dissatisfaction. She never did accept responsibility for the bugbites & I don't believe that they ever did look for bugs or do anything to get rid of them. They did send us a gift certificate for a free night's stay. I doubt if we will ever use it. I'm convinced that the only reason this place stays in business is for the view.

horrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/07
Great location but service was something else. The desk staff was very rude everytime we talked to them either by phone or in person. Rooms were not very clean. One morning I walked by the back of the restraunt to the beach and one of the cooks was smoking in his car and had all of his cooking supplies on his belt. Needless to say I never ate in there. When asked if they offered a military discount they said no. I then made a comment of them not supporting the men and women in uniform and they said no. Blew me away.

Driftwood is a great place to stay......
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/11/07
Our family has enjoyed staying a Driftwood Shores the past few years. We are returning again this year. The view of the ocean is awesome, we open the window at night and enjoy the sounds of the ocean waves. The room prices are high, but the beach is not overcrowded and the atmosphere is relaxing It is nice to go to a hotel and not worry about fleas left behind from pets, one of the reasons we first chose this hotel. When we call to make reservations, the front desk has our name in the system and mails our confirmation to us. Looking forward to seeing you in August 2007! Thanks Driftwood for a nice & pleasant place to stay.!

PET UNFRIENDLY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/03/07
Pet owners should boycott this establishment since they do not allow pets. None of the units at all allow pets. Since many elderly couples travel with their pets, this establishment is also senior citizen unfriendly.

Lovely and peaceful place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/14/06
Wow, I almost didn't stay at this resort after reading some of the reviews, listed here. But I personally think all the negative reviews were written by the same person, someone with a grudge!! Personally, when I stayed there in July, O6 everything was fantastic. The views were breathtaking, the restaurant excellent, and the staff at the restaurant went beyond the call of duty to make things perfect! Also, Debbie, and the front desk staff, were extremely kind and accommodating. Ignore that other guy with all the negative rants, you will love this place. Barbara

Disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/19/06
One looks to stay at a ocean beach hotel and have a great experience. The refrigerator was so loud, it kept us awake all night the first night, turned it off the second night Some of the rooms have a fireplace and the smoke was literally billowing out of the roof, we called to make sure the hotel wasn't on fire. The smoke drifted into our room so badly both nights we couldn't sit on the balcony or keep our door open to listen to the ocean. It was a very disppointing experience

Same time next year!
By WENDY, 04/12/06
Driftwood Shores was one of my Mother's favorite places to stay when we visited the Oregon Coast. Unfortunately, she passed away 2 years ago from colon cancer. Ever since then, my Brother and I made a commitment that we would come back and stay here every year on Her Birthday, in April, and this year is no acception! We love the nice big 3 bedroom suites with 2 full bathrooms, a nice big kitchen, a balcony you can go out on and sit and watch the ocean, but our favorite part is the fireplaces! They keep you stocked up on kindling and fire wood- if you run out, all you have to do is call them and they will bring you all you want. They are always very clean, and they have an indoor/heated pool with a jacuzzi, washer/dryers you can use, a gift shop, and a very nice restaurant with great food! They are always very nice, and we will continue to come back here every year. Thanks Driftwood Shores, and see you in about a week! W. Hisey, Vacaville, CA

Could be Better
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/30/06
Driftwood has the potential to be great. The view is awesome and you can walk right out on the beach and go for miles. However we have had some pretty serious service issues the las two stays. Some unresolved repair issues. For the money the rooms are not updated and the only single rooms that do not have full kitchens are queen. The beds are not comfortable and the pillows are flat. If they would update a litte and work on some service issues they would be an unbeatable hotel. For now I can say it is great for views and access but not comfort and service.

We definitely will be back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/17/05
We love to be at Driftwood Shores and have come several times, just our family and also with our extended family. The units are very comfortable, the beach is wonderful, the pool is great, the restaurant was convenient and the food very good, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. This summer we had eight families there and we all had a marvelous time. It is close to all the things we like to see & do in Oregon. The Aquarium, the ocean tide pools, the seals, crabbing, clamming, catching crayfish in the river, flying kites on the beach, walking/running on the beach, beach-combing (we found many perfect sand-dollars this year), playing on the sand dunes, swimming in the lake, hiking, picking black berries, the lighthouse, Devils Churn, sunsets. I could go on, but needless to say we had a grand time and will come again.
