BEST WESTERN PLUS Agate Beach Inn, Newport

The Furniture is worn so badly you need to put a bed pillow on the chair in order to reach the table. The mattress is old and the springs are worn out.. The carpets are stained although the room did not smell. There is no Air Conditioning.There is no Continental breakfast. They want you to buy theirs at $10.00 up in their restaurant. The Male clerk does not know how to smile and made a smart remark because I had left my Credit cards locked up in the car. "MOST PEOPLE KNOW WHEN THEY CHECK IN THEY NEED A CREDIT CARD", he remarked. Check in time is 4PM. We arrived early at 11:30 am and the clerk did accomodate us by switching our king size bed to two double beds. Sheets are changed only once every 3 days. Their is one small complimentary shampoo for a room that sleeps 4. The cable went out and if you turn CC on it Mutes the TV. (not good for one person who is Deaf and the other Hearing and the wi-fi was at 11mbps NOT HI-SPEED INTERNET! At $147.00 a night, plus tax i really expected a lot better than Super 8. It had a wonderful view of the ocean - however we were one floor up from the "SPORTS BAR" so you can hear all the drunks and their ha ha ha's. The gift shop is closed during the afternoon so if you get a sweet tooth, their is no Candy Machine. The parking lot at entry level holds approximately 12 cars, so you need to park on the upper level walk forever with your bags to the 6th floor and work your way down to the floor you are staying on by elevator that does not have working up/down arrows so you can't tell where the elevator may be coming. So don't waste your money. It was a horrible experience. Oh. and if you use a Debit Card expect an extra $50.00 on your bill as a deposit that will be returned to you within 5 days. Don't waste your time or money.

We stayed here for New Years with our 2 kids. Great place with a great view of the ocean. We will be going back in the summer when it is warm enough to play on the beach.

This was a fantastic place to stay! The value was one of the best we have been. The hotel was wonderful as well as the staff. Our room had a view of the beach and the lighthouse. It was a wonderful experience and we would go back again. A must visit!

Everything was great, except the resturant closes at 9 PM and on Sunday that makes it hard to find an other that is open near by.

Great location - north of the town with great views of Agate Beach and the lighthouse. Nice rooms and the restaurant is good, too. Ask for an ocean view room on the upper floors for the best views.

This hotel has an excellent view...and that's about it. We paid extra for an oceanside room with a balcony. I had visions of sitting on the balcony watching the sunset. In actuality, there is barely standing room on the balcony. The entire hotel could use some updating and refreshing. It's quite worn and feels somewhat run-down. The restaurant was quite nice, we had breakfast there and it was good and the hotel staff was friendly. The access to the beach is the best feature, but if you want proximity to shopping and restaurans, you can't really walk to them.

My husband and I brought our kids here for a two night stay. We were first impressed with how clean the room was. The pool was nice and warm, with pool towels available right there at the pool. I loved the convenience of a gift/convenience/espresso shop on site. Plus, the man who made my hot chocolate was very friendly and helpful about info for local attractions. We can hardly wait to go back!

My son and I have stayed here over 10 times. He is 10 years old. He loves it. I find it very relaxing. The pool is warm and hottub hot. The little store is fun to look in and the store manager is very friendly. The view is spectacular! The staff is very welcoming. They even have games in the lobby. I'm taking my folks this summer. Can't wait to go back!
