Southgate Hotel, Cambridge

Just hosted my wedding here we had 20 plus rooms reserved. All the rooms were clean and recently updated, paint, fixtures, etc. The tv was still old but it worked fine. Staff was very friendly. They have a Bar and good drink prices with pool table, darts, tv's. The price was great too. This place is locally and American Owned which was a great plus. There is a Sheetz across the street and Ruby Tuesdays next door. The also had a pool but It was too cold outside to use.

The hotel was very clean and the rooms was new and smelled clean.Very nice staff!! It is under new management and there doing a good job wish the bad reviews from the old owners could be taken off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had been trying to find a room traveling east from Zanesville. Rooms were all booked up and wanted $100+ a night. Found this place and was a little worried but was checked in under 5min. Guy at counter very nice.Price reasonable, rooms was decently clean. A/C in room outstanding. Wifi worked well and didnt use it but they have a nice pool. Definitely would stay again!

After reading the one review I was a little worried, but the Days Inn was full and they recommended the place. They said it was recently renovated and under new ownership. Everyone I dealt with was friendly. Room appeared to have a new coat of paint and some of the furniture appeared new. I needed a place to crash between an evening and morning deer hunt. I was surprised in the morning to see the continental breakfast available before I left at 6:00 am - very handy. This isn't the Ritz but I was certainly not paying the price for the Ritz. I would stay here again.

The Southgate Hotel is currently under new ownership. The previous reviews are from under the owners The Cambridge Inn. The hotel is under renovation. The rooms are in clean and orderly condition. The staff at Southgate is very warm and welcoming. The Southgate Hotel is a very comfortable, clean, and excellent place to stay.

THIS WAS AT 3;30 PM. ROOM WAS ON FIRST FLOOR, THE HALL WAS LINED WITH TRASH, TOWELS AND SHEETS. THE ROOM WAS DIRTY FOOD CRUMBS ON CARPET AND DUST UNREAL. TOLET HAD CRAP ON THE BACK OF IT AND NO TOWELS. NO PHONE CORD TO CALL THEM TO TELL THEM WE WOULD NOT BE STAYING. WENT TO DESK AND ASK FOR REFUND. THE LADY SAID NO REFUNDS AND SHOWED MY HUSBAND ANOTHER ROOM. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A INN RUN LIKE THIS. WE ASK TO TALK TO MANAGER HE HAD JUST LEFT. SHE SAID THAT MONDAY THE LADY FROM BANK WAS COMING I GUESS IT WAS BEING TAKEN BACK BY THE BANK. AND THIS TIME WE LEFT AND STAYED ELSE WHERE.

We called to book ahead of time for a three night stay, had a difficult time at first getting someone to answer the phones, checked in on a Wednesday and out on a Saturday morning. The stay was inexpensive and included breakfast which we needed for our 4 kids - However, on the 2nd day we took our 2 and 11 year old down to eat and saw a sign, sorry, no breakfast for today - with the breakfast dishes and food still out from the morning before. Very inconvenient when there were a total of 8 family members staying the night and end of spending an extra $50 at Denny's for breakfast. Each day we had to take our room keys back to the front desk for them to fix them so that we could re-enter our room - learned that the hard way when we were on the backside of the hotel in 30 degree weather trying to get inside and our keys didn't work. I would say you should stay somewhere else.

Arrived around 2am to catch a few hours of sleep. Was offered a $59 rate which seemed fine. It included a hot breakfast in which I did not take advantage of due to me wanting to get on the road. I was surprised when I entered my room and saw a spotless room. The sheets on the bed were clean. The bed was ok, kinda soft. The service from the lady at the desk was good too. I would stay here again.

the location is great, plenty of restaurants, etc. in the area to choose from. however, if you're traveling for work or need to access the internet, this is not the place for you. i read the other review that said there were problems with the wifi in October 05 - unfortunately they did not get this ironed out. when i called the front desk to inquire, the clerk said when there is inclement weather, the hotel has problems with the wifi. my suggestion to them - get wired! my suggestion to you - there are plenty of other hotels in the area. if you will need internet access, ask around to make sure the weather doesn't interfere. i'll skip this place next time and stay at the comfort inn, etc.

Nice enough hotel. Clean. Near the distribution center I was working at. My only issue is that when I stayed in October, 2005, they had problems with their wireless internet. You could get a signal but then no websites would come up. Hopefully they will get this ironed out...
