Aqua Marine Hotel & Resort, Avon Lake

In 1982 we had been recommended to go here when it was the Aqua Marine Resort.. It was for our first wedding anniversary in November. We had such a wonderful time! What a beautiful place. Everything was inside. Places to eat , a pub, shops, fitness rooms, a place to buy swimwear, outdoor pool and the biggest and most beautiful indoor pool!! Not to mention a bowling alley across the parking lot. We just loved the drive down Lake Road looking at all the homes along the lake and went into Slippery Rock and went to the antique and gift shops (are they still there???) We came back again in 1991 for our 10 year anniversary and were disappointed to find that all off the shops in the resort had closed, the indoor pool was being shared with someone teaching aqua-exercise and the room looked unkept. This hotel & resort has been torn down and turned into Condos. I used to work there for about 2 years after I got out of high school. Was pretty cool for my first job out of high school, but the owners didn't take care of the place. It got worse and worse till it was cheaper to just tear it down. Sad, cause I made a lot of good friends and memories there.

This hotel/resort has been closed for many years!!! They should have removed all their websites...

If you haven't been there in over twenty years, you really have no idea what it's like at Aqua Marine. It is totally run down and unkempt. Don't waste your time and money on this place, unless you really REALLY want to be within walking distance of Lake Erie. And even if that is the case, the park/beach that you can walk to from there is not worth the hassle, either.

I also have very good memories with family times around the 70s, including one time my neighbors were there when we didn't have any idea that they would be. My family used to go there on an annual basis and always looked so forward to doing so. Nice fireplace, pool, restraunt, and gift shop!! Was thinking of returning with my son sometime.

My parents used to bring me and my brother here for vacation when we were little kids - it was awesome, with lots of fun things for us to do. It reminded me a lot of the lodge in "Dirty Dancing." I am so saddened to hear that it's falling apart. I have so many great memories of this place!
