Biltmore Greensboro
By Dave, 03/24/08
The Hotel is nice. At least at first. There are no electronic doors, and the elevator was probably built in the 1920's. It's one of those that has a gate in the front of it. There was no soap on the bathroom sink, and the bed was the hardest bed I have ever not slept in. Absolutely horrible. TV is severely undersized. Honestly, unless you're an architect or into old buildings, there is no good reason to stay here. The clerks were less than helpful, and practically seem annoyed to help you. The 24 hr cancellation policy is ridiculous. Don't book anymore than 1 night, as they seriously will charge you for the next day if you check out early. This is obviously a necessity due to the lack of buisiness they have. The only reason I stayed here was because it was about $20 cheaper per night than the Marriot a few blocks up the street. Unfortunately, after checking out, I was billed for the next night that I did not stay, which made the stay more expensive. Learn from my troubles and stay at the Marriot if you're staying in downtown Greensboro.

Don't get sick!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/17/08
I had booked an employee to stay at Biltmore for a week long training conference. He became sick and needed to check out on Monday and the Biltmore is going to charge us for the entire week because we did abide by the 24 hour cancellation policy. Not a hotel that is accommodating to emergency situations!

Awesome hotel w/ Friendly Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/14/07
I have stayed at this hotel twice and each time has been a complete pleasure. I'm a female traveler and the staff is always accommodating and helpful. They really go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. This is a very old but well maintained and clean hotel with tons of charm. They have wine in the early evening and cont. breakfast in the morning. It's also convenient to several nice restaurants within safe walking distance.

Horrible, Horrible Experience - Please Read
By , 11/03/06
Please read before booking at this hotel! I am a former Naval Officer and now Business Executive. I first want to preface these comments by saying that I never write to complain about services, but in this horrific case, I thought it best to document the incident. I travel 40 weeks out of the year and cover all of the U.S. and several different countries in Europe. I have traveled extensively for more than 7 years, staying in most major hotel chains and several boutique hotels. I had the following issues with the Biltmore Hotel: Policy: Although not clearly communicated when placing your reservation on the phone, you are charged for your entire hotel reservation if you elect to cancel your reservation within 24 hours or check out early. I have never heard of any hotel policy anywhere in the world that you are assessed the entire hotel expense, if you elect to leave early. It’s absurd and just bad business. Service: I checked in after 8pm and immediately asked to talk to the Manager. I was told that he would be in by 11pm. He never arrived or called. When I went to check out the following morning, the clerk said he knew of my situation and thought it was ok to check out. I was assessed the entire charge and found out only when I received my American Express statement. I called and again asked to talk to the Manager and left my number. I was never contacted to discuss. No focus on the customer – one of my worse travel experiences. Location: The hotel is adjacent to a train cross road, which meant I spent most of the night awake because the trains passed the hotel every 15 to 30 minutes. Room Condition: I have stayed at quaint hotels with charm and character and can say that the Biltmore is not one of them. The condition of the room is sub par and dated, even for an historic hotel. I do not recommend staying at the Biltmore Hotel and am so disgusted by their service that I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Next time I'll stay in the Marriott
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/04/06
This was one of the worst travel experiences I have ever had. The room was hot when I arrived, the air conditioning had not been on long, the carpet was dirty, and the bathroom sink leaked- and no one ever fixed it. This is supposed to be an upscale hotel, but the only toiletries was a bar of Ivory soap and some shampoo. I am allergic to Ivory and when I inquired as to the possibility of getting something else, I was told that's all there was. There were several loud guests of questionable moral character drinking and smoking in the lobby in the evening, and no one ever asked them to be quiet and respect the other guests. The location is great, but it's not worth all that I had to sacrifice customer service wise. The Marriott is just a few blocks down- the rates are similar and I can trust their customer service and their high standard. Do Not waste your money on this dump. I give it a D--

Worst Stay Ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/19/06
People still in our room when we got there at 3:30pm 2nd room had stained carpet, holes in bathroom wall, wallpaper peeling, and dirty tub 3rd room had shower head that did not work hanging out of wall, neither sink nor tub would drain, toilet had to be reset by hand in back of tank between each flush. After complaining to staff for two days and 3 rooms, we were told that owner would give us a call to discuss discount the afternoon of check out. He never called, but instead charged the full amount to our credit card. When we called to dispute the charge I was told to "shut up and listen" so that I could hear him telling me that "the conversation was over" following which he hung up on me. This place is repulsive, tiny, and lacks ANY kind of customer service. Owner is very obviously uneducated, also. It is a little entertaining, however, when he is arguing in his silly cat-fight manner.

We enjoyed our stay and look forward to going back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/03/05
Nice hotel with personalized service. Quaint, with historical Greensboro charm. As you walk into the lobby you feel as though your walking back in time. This old hotel has been beautifully restored. Within walking distance to all of Greensboro's great nightlife and restaurants.
