Good place to stay
By ,
Excellent rates and service. Friendly staff and good restaurant on the premises, especially for breakfast if you don't want to go out at that time of day. I don't understand all the negative reviews of this hotel unless it's just the unsatisfied and/or hard to please people posting. We spent three days there and the only thing I didn't like was the lack of covered parking but we got such a great rate I was willing to forgo that amenity.

Great Staff for Family
By ,
We are from north Fla, and decided to cash in on some points w/ SPG. We were visiting here to SKI @ THE WOLF and see other sites, Location was great. On the 2nd night we came in from skiing, we were here with another family so we had 4 adults and 5 kids ages from 9 to 3. We decided to stay at the hotel lobby this night due to kids and adults being tired. We arrived at the lobby With a DVD, the staff showed us how to load it and the kids were set. The staff gave us recommedations about pizza for the kids, we took that and ordered, The ladies went to the bar and ordered there drinks and came back w/ the "CHOP HOUSE " Menu. The staff took our order and saw we had kids and needed to stay close to them and set up a dining table for us" IN THE LOBBY" forks, napkins, water, even Bread. The ladies had another round, the pizza showed up and Life was good at FOUR POINTS. Our waitress was Jennifer and she was great: my wife and I shared the 20oz Porter House and our friends ordered the filet and the seared tuna; all excellent choices. Highly recommend for any one to stay here. The 4 Points gets 10 Points from us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Modern Crisp & very Clean. Great Location
I wanted to write this review because this hotel has several reviews here from a time when this hotel was under different ownership/or remodeling to it's current status. I hope that Four Points will get more positive reviews as it is a very nice hotel. Firstly, the hotels location is great. Due to the heat and rain of July, we chose to drive into downtown, which is literally only 2 blocks and could easily and safely be walked. The hotel itself was quite nice. Crisp, fresh and very, very clean. I have to give our room a 100. We could not find any problems with cleanliness at all. The rooms decor was more to my taste than most traditional hotels offer. The carpet was modern, the furniture modern with clean lines, the artwork was even a nice touch being nicely framed art photograhy from architectural jewels around town. The bed was amazing and the linens were as crisp and clean as if they had never been used. The flat screen wall mounted TV is soon to be de rigueur, but at present a nice touch. With a sidenote, the TV may be a flat screen, but do not expect high definition TV. Standard resolution only and I think there were only 25-30 channels and not all of them were decent quality to watch. I think we have already gotten hooked having HD TV at home for almost 9 months. The check in at Four Points was the fastest I have ever had at any hotel, anywhere in the world. Being asked for my name and ID, and that was basically it. I was almost taken back, no forms to fill out, no wait, no, "let me see if I can find you in our computer...." just wonderfully fast and very polite service. Once again you get a 100! Check out was just as easy. If I simply had to find something negative to write, I could agree with other reviews about the bathrooms at Four Points as they are tight on space. Yes, they are. They are quite small. If you are above 5'7" you may want to be careful in the bath as you could easily bump your head on a chrome towel shelf that is attached to the wall opposite the commode. We noticed this right off, but it was not problematic to us in any way. There is little room to spread out products/cosmetics on the sink surface, but once again, this was not an issue for us as we are guite used to living out of our travel bags. I'm always stymied when hotel guests revile a hotel because things like this aren't exactly as they have at home or wish them to be. Oh yes, and while we did not buy a sample of the pies that are mentioned in their literature, the wonderful faint apple pie smell in the Lobby area was quite nice. It almost made me want to give up watching the calories. I really had to resist.

This place is still aweful
By ,
Room was dirty, smelled of smoke, hotel claimed they had wireless internet but my laptop could not find any signal. The air conditioning unit smelled like there was a dead animal in it and there probably was. I was goning to stay 2 nights but left after the first night totally disgusted with the filthyness of this place. They should tear this place down and start all over. I would not reccomend this place to my worst enemy.

KEEP LOOKIN'
By ,
Don't bother with this hotel. WAY overpriced for an overused, unmaintained old Best Western. It appears to be 15 years old or more and smells like it. Much better places near by.

Awful hotel!!!
By ,
Really, this place is the worst. I wanted to be near to downtown, but next time I'll stay out in sprawl and drive in -- it will be much more pleasant. Where to start?? Rude, incompetent desk clerk, stinky room, and to top it off, a loud, obnoxious pool party every Sunday afternoon (hotel has a raucous bar attached). They are blaring bad '80s arena rock and drinking beer by the pool. Very depressing. It was $159 for our room last night, and the breakfast is served in the same dank, smelly bar mentioned above. They should shut this place down. Never staying here again.

Give the hotel a chance!
By ,
Our stay was great. It was great because we knew we were staying at a Best Western, not the Hilton! We expected Best Western standards. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Yes the hotel could use some renovations but it was very clean.

what do you expect from 2 stars
By ,
This an older hotel with a very convenient location within walking distance of all the downtown Asheville sights. It was easy to find and was an easy drive to other attractions. It pretends to be nothing else and it's 2 star rating should tip everyone off not to expect more. If you are looking for a newer more modern facility with a more attentive staff, go across the steet to the Renaissance and pay twice the price. We enjoyed our 2 day stay and found the staff attentive enough, the rooms clean enough, the free continental breakfast okay for our needs and would definately go back.

Give this hotel a second chance
By ,
Most reviews seem to come from dissatisfied customers. I simply had to respond as I feel this hotel may not be getting the review it deserves. We booked our rooms in April for the July Bele Chere music festival. Didn't find the Yahoo review page until a few days before we left. Needless to say, most were disturbing and we called around trying to find another hotel, but everything was sold out. Our fears were for nothing. A few miles from the exit we saw a sign saying all rooms newly remodeled. We started to breathe again. The front staff was friendly and helpful. The room was adequate and clean (though the bathroom sink did not drain well). Being a downtown hotel, we were not expecting breathtaking views. Our window did face the freeway, but the air conditioner was loud enough to block any traffic noise. Hotel guests were friendly in the hallway. No drunken brawls or police activity. (Note to those who have trouble sleeping due to noise: earplugs.) They did re-set our room keys the day after check-in and we had to go back down to the front desk from the 5th floor, which was a nuisance as we really needed to pee. The review regarding the stolen laptop came to mind, but they had our reservations correct and had not checked us out by mistake or removed all of our belongings. For the price (half of what the other hotels were going for), and the proximity to downtown Asheville, this was a great deal and we will definitely book there again next year. We do understand that not all hotels offer 5-star accommodations for 3-star prices and were not expecting a Westin experience. We got an excellent rate, a comfortable room and a prime location within walking distance to everything we wanted to do.
