Never agian I was charged twice 2 months later
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/09
I stayed here in June and paid for my room. I went home and now two months later I was looking at my bank statments and they have charged me another 80 dollars this week and I have not stayed there since June. They tried telling me that they didn't charge my card the first time and I faxed them the papers from the bank to show them that they have. I don't know if I will get my money back with out going to court. Unless you want to be charged several times, several months after your stay don't stay here.

NEVER NEVER AGAIN
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/17/09
We asked for no maid service had do not disturbe on door, actually 2 of them. We left early in morning, went to breakfast then back to room, curtains were wide open, revealing everything in room, like computers, cameras, meds, everything.Called front desk they stated no one had been in room, funny there were no towels.Front desk was ignorant. Then my husband had dropped his wallet on the bed, but did not know this till couple hours later. When realized he did not have it, we rushed back to hotel. There were 2 do not disturbe on door and I had calle desk and housekeeping and advised them yet again NO SERVICE...did they listen. NO. Anyway my husbands wallet was on the bed, only it was missing money..we knew exactly what he had since he was not the one shopping I was. At teh time 2 maids stopped in the door and stated they had both come in the room, left a written note they had been in the room but left when they saw wallet. However, towels were gone again and all trash emptied. Called then went to front desk and advised the manager what was going on. She started a complaint. The front desk advised me yet again that NO one had gone in our room, that they had a scanner that showed who went in and out of rooms, and it said NO one had entered. It sure is funny that the maid admitted to going into room, left a written note and told us she had been in room, however front desk was rude and calling me a liar. Of corse they did nothing. Called Best Western headquarters, nothing done! I knew the money would never return, however something needed to be done. We checked out the next day and a lady that works there came up to me and informed me thta they were having LOTS of problems with housekeeping thefts!!!All a cover up...when I had made our reservations, I was told a certain price for 4 days stay..and they DIDNOT honor the price I was given, they charged more and would do nothing about this. We had stayed at this Best Western a couple years ago and it was great....NEVER NEVER Again. TOO RUDE and a bunch of thieves. We DID make a police report! I personally DO NOT EVER going back to this property.

Needs work
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/12/09
We stayed here for one night in October 08. Room was fine but the concrete was falling off of the upper level onto the first floor walk way. They had two washer and two dryers but only one of each worked. The food was not bad. We moved after the first night due to the price change. Went across the street for half the price and did not have to cover our head when we walked out of the door.

If I can bring my pets, I love it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/22/08
It is away from the main area of Cherokee just a short way and the shops in the area are nice and you can walk to them all. The lobby decor is a little dated country cabin but we are in the Mts, so I liked the cozy feel of the computer area for guests. (but it wasn't working when we were there)The back of the motel is sort of your average off the highway type area with dumpsters and soiled concrete hallways.Typical outdoor pool. No exercise room. Staff is friendly but nothing is special about the reception you get. Coffee pot was empty and no newspapers. No free breakfast either. But if I can take my pets and have a decent room with no bad odors, then I am happy. Rates are fare and rules to keep unattended pets in a crate are fair and that helps keep the rooms clean. Our room had a small fridge, all the usual stuff and comfortable beds. You may have to ask for a microwave and pay extra but you will need it if you go to the chinese resturant across the street and have some yummy leftovers.

great location/ clean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/02/08
Great location and very clean. I thought it was a great value. The only problem I had was that it took a few min. to check in. She said it was her second day and it was very buisy at the time (not really a big deal). I was fishing with some friends so it was just a place to sleep and hang out, I have no idea about internet, pool, etc...

We will not stay in Cherokee again...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/17/08
Room was in a state of disrepair. The carpet was worn, torn in several places, and an underlying foul odor permeated the room air. The heater was not working properly. It had to be manually shut off and on throughout the night to maintain a comfortable temperature. The bathtub drain was clogged. After using the shower for several minutes, the tub did not drain - at all! The Best Western Great Smokies may quite possibly be the worst-maintained hotel or motel we have ever stayed at. We would not recommend this motel to anyone.

Thought it was adequate for the proce.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/10/08
The location was good, close to the casino. It was off the main road and had very little traffic. The rooms were well maintained.

I Believe We Will Stay Elsewhere!
By Audrey D, 09/24/07
This motel is great IF you want something VERY simple and no-frills. No refrigerator, no microwave, no hot tub, no alarm clock, no continental breakfast, (even though I saw on the website that there was!). The restaurant, Myrtle's Table, was interesting, to say the least. We waited over an hour for 1 steak and 1 order of Chicken Alfredo. The steak was burnt up, but the alfredo was good. Not good enough to wait over an hour for! Overall, for over $100 a night, I expect more.

Outstanding!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/20/07
We received comp for hotel stay through casino. This was our 4th trip to area and the first time we actually enjoyed our hotel stay. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The location was very convenient to casino and shops. The staff were helpful and polite. We will be sure to stay again on our next trip to NC and will recommend it to our friends. Outstanding place to stay!

Save your $
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/26/07
This hotel was $119 a night, and it was one of the worst I have stayed in. It is one of the few pet friendly in the area, and that's why I chose it. The rooms are old, the beds are hard, and the shower intermittingly sprays cold water. I guess this is an added "wake up" feature! Who knows, but I'll never stay here again... Also beware, there is very little to do in Cherokee except gamble, and btw it's a dry county, so you can't buy beer in the stores!
