Esplanade Hotel & Corporate Suites, White Plains

bed was gross, could not sleep in it. refused to wash dishes in room, so had to reuse without cleaning. stayed during power outage. they made longer reservation, but reneged and then used price gouging because all hotels were full from people who had nowhere else to live. if you want a nice place to stay, this isn't it...and watch your back...

After we booked for one night by phone, and got the confirmation number, we had very bad surprise when we arrived to check in, the person behind the desk met us with a straight face, and shocked us when said there was no room available, we tried to find out how this could happen and what they can do to solve the issue, the person behind the desk was not helpful at all, just wanted to end the subject and move on, it was clear to us that this person should be the last one to work in customer service, people who work in customer service must be cheerful and problem solvers, but not this one. We left the hotel angry, and drove back to our destination, but the story hasn't finished yet, keep reading, after two days we talked to the manager, and told him what happened, he said "I am sorry", and promised full investigation, and would get back to us, and guess what? He never did it. I wonder if this would have happened to the person behind the desk or to the manager, what their feelings and reactions would be?

y husband and I have recently stayed at the Esplanade Corporate Suites. We booked over the internet from Australia and thought it looked good. How wrong we were.... - In our first room the one bed was broken, the heating and plumbing didnt work, the curtains were broken and the 'kitchenette' had 2 cups, one bowl and 3 forks. - the gym and spa advertised didnt work - the laundry facilities had no soap powder and no change machine It was VERY disappointing and we will NEVER consider staying there again. One should be carefull booking over the internet.

Run don't walk as fast and as far as you can from this place, poeple at the front counter were less than curtious, they take care of phone reservations before they took care of us, even though we were at counter first, you share the facility with assisted living people, one time I saw a homeless person come in and go through the garbage can, no sercurity, the breakfast they have is getto, food is old and stale...you would be better off in a tent than this place.......

I am originally from NY but moved away for three years. I went back for a family emergency and we booked at this hotel. My experience there was not the best. Upon arrival which was about 11:30p.m. we were quite surprised to enter a parking garage that was separate from the building. It was lonely and felt very uncomfortable. The elevator we had to take down stairs was very old and we had to go back outside and then into the reservation area. After which we were told to go upstairs that building, then across the Anex and then down another elevator to our room. Imagine how we felt at 11:30p.m after a long flight. The staff was great but this hotel could have been better for the price that we paid. No iron or ironing board was in our room, no coffee pot, sugar or creamer, no head board for our bed and the bathroom looked as if it needed a good renovation. The lobby, foyers and furniture outside of the room looks great but once inside the room, things changed. The hotel is centrally located and getting to any place of your choice is quite easy. Lovely restaurants and shopping areas are close by and this made the experince at the Esplanade pass by quite quickly. You will enjoy your stay as I condisder this average but for the community of White Plains NY, I expected better.

The facilities were dated but OK as we only spent the nights there. Parking was free and the management was most helpful. A good staging place for trips into the city. Yahoo Travel never sent my reservation to these people so luckily I had my downloaded copy which allowed me to get the rate I was promised.

Be aware that the hotel is a Senior Citizens Center as well as a hotel. We booked over the internet and there was no mention of this being a Senior Center/hotel. Besides the fact that it smelled like a hospital, our room had no telephone and the window had a bad leak. We complained to the front desk and they never took care of either problem. Some one did come to our room and laid towels on the ledge. We inquired about the telephone 3 times and it was never taken care of. We inquired about moving to another room but they were booked up. We were in town for a marathon and all other hotels were booked or we would have left. Bathroom was equiped like a hospital complete with a chair in the shower.
