Affinia Shelburne, New York

It was a great hotel, I stayed there a few nights. I paid for most of it with a free gift card that I got from ESPN. I think they're still giving them out at nflgiftcards.info, hurry before they run out!

It's not often you get more than what you pay for, especially in NYC. I went to my "room" and found I had a huge suite, in beautiful condition, immaculate and well appointed. It even appeared as if the carpet was new. I have stayed in the other Affinia Hotels in NYC; all great, but this was even better. Very close to Grand Central but just enough away from Times Square and the lights and noise. Front desk was friendly and quick. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

It's a very nice hotel, great location (only 4 blocks away from Grand Central, within walking distance of UN headquarters and Empire State Building), quiet environment, and a fancy bar on 1F (the price is great ^O^). What I like most is the guestroom kitchen, they even provide all basic tableware and cookware!!! Unfortunately, I'm kinda disappointed with the hotel service (I called front desk one night for helping me solve a problem with the safety box in my room, and they promised to send someone to take a look at it, but "someone" never showed up…). However, if I ever visit NY again, Shelburne will definitely be my first choice.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Shelburne Murray Hill. Within walking distance of Broadway, Times Square, Rockefeller Plaza and Macy's - shopped big time there. Even though I live on a main road in Melbourne, New York is very noisy and alive at night and took a little getting used to. Staff pleasant and helpful, particularly with getting a taxi to the Airport.

We spent four nights here and will likely not return. Location was o.k. but prefer to be on west side closer to Times Square. Room was late being prepared - we were offered another room of less value (at lower rate no doubt) but it wasn't what we wanted. Saw this happen to others while we waited too. Front desk had maps of city but no pamphlets or information documentation on tours, shows, sightseeing activities - useful for visitors. Room was poorly lit with no view. Few windows, carpet was a grungy brown colour and was uneven and buckled. Kept clean by housekeeping. Front desk responded to requests quickly. No concierge in evenings; water pressure in shower weak. No envelopes or letterhead provided. I used the sweeteners on the first morning but they were never replaced - did replace coffee though. Kitchen was well equipped and groceries could be purchased near by. Beds were comfortable and room was a generous size. Felt safe in the neighbourhood and in the hotel. Very quiet for sleeping. A safe location for families or single women. Close to Grand Central Station for taking the subway most places. Overpriced for what we got compared to other hotels.

Very good value for a great hotel. Very modern roof bar/ lounge. Restaraunt in hotel that is excellent. Very helpful staff. Close to the Empire state building and Metro. Definitely would go back.

A real gem in Murray Hill. Nice staff, clean and well decorated rooms. The hotel restaurant has the world's best hamburgers am there other good restaurants nearby. There's a lounge on the first floor with computers and internet access (not free but reasonable), big screen TV and newspapers--great place to read or relax in comfortable chairs.

We took our children, aged 14 and 16, to see New York and booked through Travel Counsellors. The room was excellent, the kitchen covered our needs and the huge bed was a bonus. We had one discrepancy between the accomodation we had ordered and the actual accomodation provided but the cheerful and efficient young lady on reception sorted everything out while we had a meal. All the staff were friendly, approachable and efficient (including advising me as to where to buy the best bagels!). We would recommend this hotel to anybody although we would warn them that New York is a bit noisier than the English countryside at night !

I stayed at Shelburne Murray Hill during Holy Week and Easter 2005. I stayed in a suite, and I couldn't have asked for a better place. The suite was large and roomy, very clean and comfortable and the bed was great. Also the staff was terrific in every kind of way - they did everything to make the stay even better. And then there's the location, of course - could it be any better? I loved the Shelburne Murray Hill and will definitely stay there again when I visit NYC!
