Inn at Lake Joseph, Forestburgh

My wife and I just returned from a long weekend at the Inn at Lake Joseph. To say it was an unbelievable, absolutely memorable experience doesn't do it justice. I almost hate to write this review because I don't want others to find out about this gem in the NY Catskills. We'd rather keep this place all to ourselves. But I have to tell you, if you want first class pampering with all the amenities, in the midst of beautiful mountains and so many things to do both at the Inn and its property as well as in the surrounding area, this is what you are looking for. We had a great time at Lake Joseph. The grounds are beautiful and kept very well. Debbie the innkeeper was incredible hospitable, welcoming and friendly. Very organized and easy going. She welcomed us and gave us maps of the grounds and a tour of the Inn and went over what there is to do in the area. The room was great. Very clean comfortable bed, fireplace, jacuzzi tub and a view of the woods. Breakfast was spectacular. You can order what you want from a selection and they cook it while you wait. There is a kitchen stocked with sandwich stuff, snacks, drinks and salads open all day long. Beautiful swimming pool, always a hammock open, a pool table, badminton, tennis, frisbee, an outdoor firepit, hiking and oh yeah, the beautiful lake. Rowboats, paddleboats and kayaks available any time of the day. Local restaurants were kind of ghetto looking but food turned out to be great. I recommend the Trout Grenoble at the Aldred Preserve. Check out their off season Spending Spree promotion on the website to basically get your room for half off. Great place to go to get away from city life. There is so much to do right at the inn won't get bored. Highly recommend it.
