Just ok..wish we stayed elsewhere
By Joe, 01/01/10
Great location but for $300 a night with tax it was very average. Heater had problems, right next to a huge crane that started at 7am! They say the room is two queen sized beds but they are really closer to a full bed. The rooms are very tiny and a lot of foreigners who like to smoke right outside the entryway stay there. For a big visit to New York, spend the extra $$ and stay elsewhere; if they give you a great rate and you are on the cheap, it would be ok. The breakfast is very nice and the staff was helpful and seemed to care. Kind of a mixed bag!?!

Can't wait to go back
By Sinan, 11/17/09
This hotel made our stay in New York 10 times better. The location is great 2 blocks away from time square, near the subway for convenience use. The breakfast is complementary and the staffs were very helpfully. The rooms are smaller but very stylish and comfortable. Very clean rooms. We would defiantly stay there again.

Excellent value and location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/09
Stayed for 5 nights early July. It's been recently renovated and while there was still some elevator work being done, the staff were quite aware of how it was inconveniencing guests and sometimes made them stop working to allow guests to use the elevators.. The service all round was very very good, the room (queen bed) and bathroom was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was continental with a wide variety to choose from. Only complaint would be that it was all served with disposable utensils and plates. It's in an excellent location and was excellent value for money. Would definitely stay there again.

Watch Out - Construction Zone Next Door - 7 am!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/20/08
Lobby was under construction when we stayed in April. Could not use elevator because it was full of old furniture, then they piled it in the lobby. Halls were being painted and loud pounding noises. Final straw was city construction - three story deep hole next door! Heavy drilling and trucks started at 7 am - unbelievable! Hotel knew about all of this and let us check out day early, but the $250 night was not worth it. Travelocity "we inform you if there is construciton before you go" promise is a joke too - they did nothing after several calls and said we had to deal with the hotel manager directly. Of course at 7 am when the construction started she was not there - probably at home sleeping in peace!

This is a fine hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/03/08
I went to this hotel expecting the worse from the reviews I had read, from bedbugs to mice and dirtiness. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised, my room was clean, there were no bugs or mice and the hotel staff were extremely friendly and nice. The rooms were small, but most of the nyc rooms probably are, they were an ok size for 4 of us (2 queen size beds). The bathroom was really nice and the whole room was good. This is one of the cheapest hotels in NYC, and I would definitely go there again, rather than pay another $100-$200 for another hotel!

Stay if ya want locality and dont care about your room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/14/07
We got here and the lobby is very nice..took us about 30 mins to check in bc they had one person and a huge line..people all around but no one helped..we got in our room and our daugher cried..the "king"sized bed was no bigger than a full and the room was seriously no bigger than their closet at home,,,we had to squeeze to get by each other..and there was a bar on the 2nd floor right beside our room that got into full swing about 1 am great for a family ..the bathroom was dirty as was the floor..3 dollars for water i could go on and on..the only good things i can say is we werent there much..it is central to broadway and the dowtown area which was nice so we didnt spend much time in our room..alot of the staff was sooo nice...which was a plus..but for $500 dollars for one night it was NOT worth it for sure...

Only if you're desperate
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/07
$2100 for 6 days with a AAA discount. The room was somewhat clean. The room had no heat; it would heat for about five minutes then blow cold air. The drapes block the heater/air conditioner apparatus, so if there had been heat I would have had a choice of heat or having the drapes closed. The room faced 46th street, where they were doing construction until 3:00 in the morning every single day I was there. The staff spoke broken English nearly impossible to understand. There is no high-speed internet as advertised - unless you want to use their WebTV type keyboard, for which there are no directions. A friend tried to call me four times and got either ringing with no answer or voice mail - and each time I was in the room waiting for the call; it's pretty pathetic when someone cannot dial 3 or 4 digits correctly. Unsavory characters hang out up against the wall along the street, making remarks/catcalls to women walking alone. Unless you're desperate, find another hotel.

Mouse in the room!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/07
Great location and seems to have been recently renovated. We had an issue with a MOUSE in our room and they were unable to move us to a new room. They did not apologize for the inconvience of getting no sleep do to this active rodent nor did they make any reasonable compensation efforts.

NASTY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/15/07
Let me say that i have traveled globaly and have never seen a more RUDE front desk staff in my travels. The hotel was nice and in a great location. The rooms were clean. The breakfasts were nice. I had a problem from the get go upon check-in. I arrived and was the only person standing there waiting to check in. There was several clerks but they were conversing with each other. I finaly, after 10 mins or so, asked to check in. I was told that in addition to my stay I had to pay a $300 charge for incidentals. When I asked what it was for he told me it was for the TV and the phones. I told his that those two items werent necessary. He told me fine, I will turn off the phones and the TV.. I told his that was fine. We just needed the rooms to sleep. I called down later and asked for a rollawya bed. The lady told us that the chrage would be $20 for our stay. When we got down stairs, she was gone and we were charged $25 PER DAY. I told him what the lady had told us and he said I was wrong. No other explination offered or given. We called down to ask for additional towels and was told I needed to pay more money for additional towels. I flagged down one of the cleaning ladies and she told us that she would leave additional towels and to NOT tell the front desk. Upon check out, I was told I had to give them my credit card to pay for my room AGAIN! I paid $900 upon check in. they said I did not pay for it yet. I had to bring out my receipt that they gave me showing that it was paid in full. Then was told I had to re-pay the roll away too. I had to prove that with the other receipt. I then asked for a taxi to go from the hotel to the port authority. I was told to just walk it. I said no, we have luggage and cant carry it all. He said then go out and flag your own cab down. I told him that generally it is a hotel service. We waited for the conceirge to come back from lunch. She said the same thing. fist, walk it, then flag it down yourself. When we told the let us see a yellow pages so we can call a cab company, she said she wasnt allowed!!! So she called someone to take us. It was either her brother or someone else she knew. He arrived in a suburban. Didnt help load luggage. He wasnt a cab company, just someone she knew. She charged us $55 for a 8 block ride. We had no choice to pay it since we werent given a telephone book. She also said she didnt know the numbers for the cab company. Even though your hotel is in a GREAT location, I could NEVER stay there again. I would be sure to inform people NOT to stay at that hotel. I felt since my party was all female that we were treated poorly. I believe if we had brought our husbands, theis would never had happened.
