Great experience at this hotel
By ,
Just returned from 4 night stay in the Affinia Dumont. Staff was great. Very friendly. Doorman was showing kids how to do yo-yo tricks. Plenty of restaurants close by for every taste and budget. Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins right next door. Market on the corner for snacks. The room was very clean. 2 blocks from the subway, 3 blocks from Empire State Building. Walking distance to Times Square. We had a full kitchen, plates, cups silverware, pots and pans. We only made hot chocolate (purchased at the market, not the mini-bar), but if you have picky eaters or special needs or just want to have a picnic in the park, you can prepare meals right in your room. The hotel has a Pillow menu. You can pick different kinds of pillows to use in the room (at no extra charge). Our kids got the "sound" pillows, plugged in their MP3 players, and listened to music with their heads on the pillows. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We can't wait to go back
By ,
Loved the location and friendliness of staff. JUBOR is the go to guy. He can get you were you need to go. Lots of attractions are in walking distance from hotel. I felt very safe walking at night we were out most nights till 1am. The hotel has a store on the corner, we bought all of our snacks there, it is open 24 hrs. If you are looking for ice it is in the basement, it you call they will bring it up to your room. I would recommend this hotel to stay in. Have fun, we did.

Murry hill/Empire-MACYS/United Nations
By ,
Well we stay there five days and four nights in August 08 so we could catch a Yankees game in the old stadium before its gone. I will say it has a nice location,on the subway line going up to the game or downtown to Battery Park and the Statue of Liberty. It was close to some famous sites, walking to Macy's or the Empire state Bldg was a breeze. There are shops close to the hotel to buy what every you need but if your not from NYC be prepared for it to be a bit more costly then at home. There is a wide choice of dinning around the hotel with a range from McDonalds to Philly cheese steaks to pizza and of course nice family sit down with the kids. We also made use of eating in our room for the kitchenet was very handy and room service or ordering out with deliverly to the room from nearby establishments was very easy. The view from or room on the 25th floor was great. At night with all the lights from the view made it very romantic. She loved it and told me it was a perfect view for her. I would say overall the hotel was clean and in reasonable shape with no major things wrong. Hallways and the lobby were a bit small but I don't go to hotels to see the lobbies, so it did not matter too me. We did find one bug in the room but in NYC one bug is about 10 less then normal for a five day trip. They have 5 different types of pillows to try all at no cost so you can get a nice night of restful sleep. The room was about the right size for me and a bit larger then normal for NYC. The staff, well the staff was different. The front desk when we arrived was very nice and informative.I would say the young lady was the best of the staff we meet. We were shock by the lady on the phone when we needed info about the hotel. Yes the phone is so impersonal but they were rude before we got there and not so helpful while we were there. So we just went downstairs to the desk to ask our questions and they took all the time to make us feel welcome. To close I will say I will return here if needed for it was a nice place in a decent neighborhood with easy transportation in cabs or on the subway. You are about in the middle so you can go uptown or downtown very easy or take a hour walk to Macy's and Times SQ. The heliport and waterfront is about 3 blocks away with the UN just a few blocks up from there. Have some fun in the Big Apple or also know as New York City!

Awesome! I recommend this hotel to all!
By ,
I just got back from NYC and can't stop raving about this hotel! Large, clean rooms, super friendly and attentive staff, excellent service. We had 4 adult women in one studio suite (the smallest type of room in the hotel) and never felt crowded or lacked for closet/drawer space. There is a great deli/grocery store about 3 doors down from the hotel which is perfect for stocking the kitchen! I loved this hotel and I will be back.

A great home base
By ,
We stayed for a week at the Affinia Dumont with our two teenage daughters. The hotel was comfortable, clean, and had large rooms, very helpful staff, and numerous amenities. (Try the specialty pillow menu! There is also a day spa, but no swimming pool.) The midtown location was perfect for exploring the City, and the neighborhood felt safe day and night. The nearby restaurants and markets provided excellent food and service; by the end of our stay, the owner of the market we most frequented had begun to recognize and greet us when we came in. A bit pricey per its NYC location (although you can sometimes get a deal, and you can exchange timeshare points), but someplace we'll definitely stay again.

Great Workout Facility
By ,
I first chose to stay here because they avertized a great spa and fitness center. I've not used the spa but the fitness center has all the equipment (in good condition) I need to keep up my program while I'm in NYC. On staff fitness trainer is great to talk with as well. I also liked the large rooms with a kitchen. Beds were plush and very comfortable. Staff is very friendly and accomodating. Location is a little south of where I do business but taxis are easily available. The local restaurants in the area serve great food and drink. For business travel this has been a great hotel for me.
