Great Place for the money!
By Tom, 5/17/11
The cabins are older but really cute. We read the reviews but didn't experience the problems others wrote about. Wonder if they were at the same place. Wood is provided and the office staff is really nice. They even walked us up to the cabin we were wanting before we rented it to make sure we would be happy before we took it and paid. Nice beds and the TV was nice sized. Would come again over any other place in Cloudcroft.

No Hot Water/No Pillows & Bed Linens
By PatientX, 3/18/11
Had to call the owner to get hot water. Enough hot water for a 5 minute shower. Also had to call for sheets and pillows for the sofa-sleeper. Overpriced during Spring Break. Neat but small & no frills "efficiency" cabin. Kinda small for a family of four. My biggest complaint: Hot water in the shower ran out after only about two minutes! Would not recommend Spruce Cabins since there are apparently chronic problems getting hot water during the colder months.

Wasn't the greatest experience.
By Yahoo User, 9/8/09
This is an OK place to stay...if you're a plumber. Accomodations were clean, but the first morning we had to light our own water heater. The second morning, we had to work on the toilet in the bathroom to get it to work. Tried to report the problems to the management, but never could find them until it was time to check out. And, be sure to check if there is a minimum length of stay. Their rules seem to change depending on the circumstances and seasons. We were charged for three nights, when we were only staying for two.

Overall a good value
By MANUEL PALAFOX, 11/10/08
We had some trouble with the online reservations and our first cabin choice was accidentally given away but got our second choice. Cabin was cute, cozy and basic - but not fancy. Room temperatue was difficult to regulate - seemed either "too hot" or "too cold". Cabins could benefit from a love seat or couch (not all have them).. Staff was VERY nice and overall it is a good value in a great location.

Bad experience!
By KellieV, 1/22/08
When we walked into the cabins they did appear cute and clean. However, they were VERY cold. When we tried to make a fire in the fireplace it filled the place with smoke even though the flu was open. The propane heat only heated the main room, the bedroom and bath were freezing. We had not hot water for showers. When we complained they told us we had to wait our turn because there were people next door. Even though we waited we only had about 30sec. of hot water. There were mouse droppings in the silverware drawer. We were willing to pay for the night we stayed, but when we asked for a refund for the 2nd night (which we didn't stay) the owner refused and was very ugly to us. I can't believe this place got such good reviews from everyone else. The price for us was $90 per night for a family of five. We still want our 2nd night payment back and are in dispute over this. It is deceiving because the cabins look like they are in walking distance of Cloudcroft mainstreet but they are not. It is farther than 1 block.

Good but small
By Stolendaydreams, 8/24/07
We rented a room, with out looking first. When we entered the room we were shocked to see how small the cabin was. Not big enough for a family of four. The TV was way to small! Don't get me wrong, the place was really nice and the veiw was great, the ladies were so nice, even after we asked for our money back. I would stay here if there was a room bigger than the one we rented, but I would really like it if the TV was bigger, a TV matters when you have a 4yr old who loves to watch it.

Best in Cloudcroft
By Arleen, 4/29/07
The Spruce was the next best thing to being at home. The cabins are cozy and comfortable and the cleanest we have come accross in Cloudcroft, and we come every year! The owners and the staff are also willing to meet their customers needs. We would stay nowhere else.

Very accomodating!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/16/06
This was a really nice place to stay. The people that worked there were very friendly and eager to please. The cabins are also very clean. We have stayed everywhere in Cloudcroft and Spruce Cabins is without a doubt THE CLEANEST! They have everything you will need.

Great Place To Stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/25/05
The cabins are old and rustic but very clean and have everything you will need to cook your own meals (except the food!) and are furnished. The management is good at taking care of your needs. Bet place to stay for the price!
