Never again!
We stayed at the Super 8 Motel in Carlsbad, NM June 10-12, 2005 and will definitely choose another hotel the next time we are in Carlsbad. The hallways did not have air conditioning, the comforter and a towel had yellow stains, there were sticky stains on the bathroom wall, and a sticky glob (syrup?) on the dresser. The television was small with a very limited cable channel selection.
We were informed at check-in that there would be a continental breakfast served from 6:30-9:30am. However, the first morning, all the food was gone by 8:30am, the breakfast room was a mess, and the orange juice machine was leaking water all over the floor and forming a large puddle. We informed the front desk about the problem and had to go elsewhere for breakfast. The second morning, the breakfast was not ready until 7am as a line of hotel guests formed in the hallway. The hotel should advertise "first come, first served" if they will not keep the breakfast food stocked until 9:30am. The staff was not exactly rude, just inattentive. We did not visit the pool.
Visit Carlsbad, but stay away from this hotel. There was no way that it was worth the $62/night (government rate).
