Worth the stay. . .
By Karen Shine, 5/21/12
The staff we encountered during our stay were very pleasant, friendly and comfortable, as was the atmosphere. The free breakfast was by far more than a continental fare, it was restaurant (home town diner) style. The building itself is old, which lends it charm and personality. Certainly not the Fairmont - but you are in Taos, NM. The rooms are quaint, not sterile, but clean and well equipped with linens, soaps, etc. No in room coffee (:() . The plaza was within walking distance and everyone we encountered were really cordial. Indian Dance Show 1 night (fun) on site. Candy shop, hairdresser, restaurant, bar, pool and hot tub - it's all there. Yet there is still plenty else in the nearby area: Pub, Casino, park. I would definitely stay there again. Reasonably priced for the amenities, service, location and atmosphere.

Good enough for a weekend snowboard trip!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/26/11
We have stayed in this hotel 3 times now during our yearly snowboarding trips. This time, we got a room with 2 queens and there were 3 of us total in the room. The beds were clean, there were plenty of towels, the place was very quiet, we had a great stay! The only thing I noticed were a few ants in the bathroom who had come in from the cold through a small crack between the floor and base board. With a little caulk, the problem could have been avoided. The breakfast buffet was hot and included normal foods like eggs, bacon, etc. There are tons of shops and restaurants within walking distance, and its only a 20-minute drive to the ski valley. For the price and location, I don't mind a few ants :)

awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/26/10
We arrived late from a long drive only to find ourselfs in a train wreck of a room. To find yourself with a king size bed with a small throw pillow and one towel the size of a wash rag!!! I called the front desk spoke to a rude staff member who acted like providing the room with an extra pillow and towels was a problem. Waited 10 mins still no pillow or towel called front desk again to see what the status is because we were very tired. Said security was sending it wait a total of 20 mins and still nothing. Left it as that got the employees name and report it in the morning. Next morning to find out that the G.M. had a worst attitude then the staff member. Nothing was resolve this is the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT I HAVE EVER RECEIVED!!! Would not recommend this specific Best Western located in Taos N.M.

Taos Mouse...
By PennyV, 10/20/06
We had a mouse in our room. Our granddaughter heard something scratching at the trashcan and when I turned the light on a large mouse ran across the room and hid behind a chest. We were relocated to another room, but when we checked out the front desk acted very ho-hum about our experience. Took $20 off our bill after my husband told them he expected to be compensated, but did not apologize. Won't stay there again.

Cold Buffet Breakfast
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/06
After staying at the Kachina Lodge for many years, we were very disappointed. They charge a premium price for their rooms and included a hot made to order breakfast in the past. This has now changed to a cold eggs, cold sausage, cold toast buffet. We also encountered a peeping Tom looking through our window who ran around the back of the hotel when we saw him. We reported this to the front desk and was asked if he was wearing a "yellow shirt". Evidently, they were having problems with this person. The hotel nightclub becomes a hip hop club, for the 21 year old age group, at night complete with a DJ. Also, the pool was closed for repairs and we weren't told when we made our reservations. The rooms were still clean but the service, atmosphere, and security have changed.

awful place
By Rola, 9/23/05
The front desk was unfriendly, sarcastic and rude. It took forever to check in and out. They were confused both times, tried to charge me a higher rate, and had the reservation dates wrong. The rooms are terrible. It's more like an ancient motel off the highway! Terrible experience. I loved Taos, but let me tell you next time I will try a nice hotel with a nice atmosphere. Won't go to that one again!

Never again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/25/05
My family arrived (party of 4) with a confirmed reservation only to find that the hotel had no record of our reservation. We were able to get a room with a single bed anyway and we requested a rollaway bed and extra bedding, which we never received. When I called the front desk 3 hours after arrival to check on the status of the rollaway, they were too busy to do anything about my request. Two of us ended up sleeping on the floor in a tiny, dirty room. Also, our room was double-booked to another couple who attempted to enter the room with their room key. They were able to get another room. As for the hot breakfast, it was lukewarm at most with little to choose from unless you are on the Atkins diet.
