Loved it!! First Class 5 Stars
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/26/11
This is a great hotel ..the staff went out of their way to be helpful and it is an easy walk (under 4 minutes to the train station) and to the unique shops and restaurants in Summit ..The Hunt Club restaurant was great , but the service a bit slow for the NYC area... The rooms were very nice and clean.

Lovely historic Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/21/10
We have stayed at the Grand Summit Hotel many times over the past years. The experience has always been great. Being greeted at the front desk by a cheery face is always a plus. The rooms are well decorated like an old traditional hotel should be, the restaurant and bar have very good food, we love the buffet breakfast. We prefer this type of hotel over the modern ones of today. Would definitely stay there again.

Great Experience, would stay again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/21/10
My sister and I stayed at the hotel for the first time at the begining of December and loved it. It had a lot of charm yet had modern, updated rooms and amenities. The staff was wonderful. The front desk clerk was chipper at any hour of the day or night and was willing to do anything she could to help us. Room service food was good and came piping hot , and not outrageously expensive. One night we brought in a bottle of wine and called housekeeping for an opener; a gentleman showed up in two minutes with 2 wine glasses and a corkscrew, and opened the bottle for us. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet which included many selections. We didn't use the gym, but it had the latest equipment for a quick workout. The location of the hotel is perfect for a short walk to the center of Summit, which is a beautiful town with some GREAT shopping and restaurants to suit any taste. The airport was just 25 short minutes away, and was very easy to get to. I would definitely stay there during my next visit to the area.

Couldn't wait to leave.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/9/09
Stayed here on business and will never stay here again, The rooms were poorly lit and generally not very clean, (it took a week and a half to remove a nut shell from the floor). The reception staff were generally unhelpful and unfriendly. Breakfast was Ok and the breakfast staff pleasant (a rarity for staff in this hotel). All in all a hotel that nowhere near achieves value for money and apart from a few exceptions rude and inept staff.

Wedding Guests Beware
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/3/08
Attended a recent wedding in September & like normal people left our gift which consisted of a sealed wedding card & check for the bride & groom on a table set up by the hotel. Someone at the wedding stole the cards from the gift basket, This not only happened once but again the next night at a different wedding. This is all "alleged" by the Grand Summit. They take no responsibility for this incident. But I can tell you I had to cancel the check, pay the fees & close out my bank account. The hotel takes NO responsibility as it is under investigation & want nothing to do with this incident. If your a guest - please DO NOT leave your wedding gift on any table. It is better you mail it or personally hand it to the bride & groom the next day. Sounds like its an inside job & be careful if you go with the Valet Parking.

Dirty with bugs included!
By jm, 7/30/08
My colleagues and I have stayed at this hotel numerous times for business over the last two years (at least 5x or more a year). The problems encountered have worsened to the point where I and my other colleagues REFUSE to stay there EVER again. Typical problems encountered during my stays are as follows: the front desk staff are not friendly, management/staff that do not listen to complaints, a night's charge for early check out, and hotel un-cleanliness (i.e. especially the bathrooms - hairs from previous persons that are left un-cleaned in the bathroom the entire duration of stay - we also saw a mouse in the dining room in our last stay). These issues were reported to management with little or no apology each time. The topper was our last stay a couple weeks ago where a colleague noted bites on her legs and arms on the 3rd day of a 4 night stay. She was staying in a remodeled room. We found and caught 5 bed bugs between both double beds/mattresses in the room. We placed the bugs on a piece of tape and brought them to the front desk clerk (night shift). She refused to look at them and/or take them but promised to tell management in the morning (which she did not do - we learned later that other guests stayed in the same room since our stay by the time our company spoke with the hotel several days later - the hotel said it was my colleagues fault for not saying something to management in the morning) - my colleague did move to another room that night. Needless to say, that is the last time I will stay at this hotel!

Nothing Grand about this hotel except what they chare to stay there
By Larry, 1/11/08
Had to unplug lamp and coffee maker in order to plug in my cpap and computer. No power strip or adequate plugs. I was concerned about the lack of light when I went to bed, but no problem because there was a security light outside my window that made the room appear like daytime. No blackout shades. I can't believe I was the first person to complain about this. Hardwood floors--very pretty, also very slick and very cold when you wake up and get out of bed. Very nicely tiled shower stall--too bad it was only 3' x 3'. I'm a little guy and that was tight for me. Charged $9 per day for me to park my owncar in an uncovered lot.

Worst Hotel Ever
By Kevin, 7/23/07
This was probably the worst hotel my wife and I have ever stayed in. The first room we checked into probably had not been renovated since 1900. The bathroom was disguisting with hairs on the floor. There was a musty smell in the hallways, and it felt like we were staying in a college dorm. The second room was only slightly better. The staff at the front desk is unfriendly and unhelpful. They recently renovated 10 of the 150 hotel rooms, and currently have 8 under construction and just renovated the lobby although you could not tell. I would not stay at this hotel even if it was free. We could not wait to go home......

Not worth the Money
By Michele, 8/25/06
I stayed in this hotel during a business trip. The staff was vey nice but I had some issues with the hotel. For one, the bathrooms are TINY! Not made for 2 people at the same time. Also, if you are allergic to mold and mildew...do not go to this hotel. I asked to switch rooms due to the mold smell in the air and the room they showed me was worse. I asked for a dehumidifier they did not have one. The food was good and the wait staff was excellent. I was just overall dissappointed with the hotel and the price I don't think it is worth it.

A wonderful old hotel
By Angela, 5/23/05
We came at the last minute to this hotel. Over the years it has been refurbished. The rooms were quiet and had a lovely ambience. The staff were polished and friendly. They were extremely helpful. WiFi in the rooms was a huge asset. This hotel gets the Internet. The breakfast buffet was very fine and the servers were all cheerful. It combines modernity with tradition. The pool is only open in the summer - I wish it were indoor and could be open year round.
