The Montreal Inn, Cape May

We just got back from the montreal inn.we were very happy but our only complaint was the pool closes at 6pm which we thought was way to early

Our room was very clean and the staff was friendly and great. Only two complaints: 1. The sofa in the room needs a steam cleaning or to be replaced. 2. The pool closes at 6 pm which is way too early in July!!!! I noticed the maintenance crew seemed to take good care of the pool, which is so important. The water was very cold though, I have a hard time believing it was heated. Nice touches by the owners: jelly beans at check in, coffee for the pots in the rooms, lots of travel size products in the bathroom, nice location on beach, lounge chairs for the beach included with the room.

Go to the cape every year. I have been going to Cape May since 1989. I have stayed at several Hotels during that time. The Montreal Inn is hands and shoulders above all others. The location is excellent and the staff is very helpful and pleasant. The double rooms allow privacy even shen occupied by two or more. My sons are now 18 and 21 years old and still enjoy going to the Montreal Inn.

We've been going to the montreal for a long time but it seems it's slipping. Our room on arrival was filthy. Bathroom was gross, hairs everywhere, Soap scum on the shower walls and the tub had a film on it like it hadn't been cleaned all season. The bed had hairs in it, the blanket had dirt and burn holes ( a non smoking hotel). This is the third year I've had to bring my own cleaning products to clean the bathroom before we could even use it. We stayed on the 4th floor. The only reason we put up with it is the view, but we decided this year thats it. The rooms need updating and the beds are in need of new matresses. The back of the hotel (the entrance to your rooms is gross too. It all needs painting and the stairwell looks like an inner city stair to the subway. How about some cleaning in this place It's just GROSS!

We've come here for the past two years and are returning again this June. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this place! The rooms are nice and the location can't be beat - it's close to everthing and has a magnificent view of the ocean. We wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else!

This is a great family motel. Convenient location-Nice rooms-friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again. But-they advertise in room wireless computer access which was just about useless. We stayed on the second floor and barely got a connection to the network. No one seemed to care. So if you need access to your emails or business don't count on their wireless connection.

Every aspect of our several years at the MONTREAL INN at Cape May, New Jersey has been delightful. The only real change that we would suggest is to replace the very solid, almost hard mattresses with something a bit more confortable. But that doesn't greatly diminish the overall pleasure of our stay and we look forward to many more years of being guests at this fine Inn.

You can't beat the location. The price was on the high side, but that's to be expected for ocean view. The suite we had (double and twin,in BR, and sleeper sofa in LR)was adequate, but tight for 2 adults and 2 preteens. I was glad we had a room above the 1st floor. Those rooms are right at the pool- not private, and no beach view. They would be good to rent if you have a group/family reunion because everyone can hang out together outside of their rooms, at the pool. Our children said they would have preferred renting the house we usually stay in for a whole week rather than this room for half a week at the same price. Overall, very clean, safe, friendly. But the restaurant was a bad experience. Our meal was ruined when one entree never came. The cook "couldn't find the sausage" and would we like to order something else? No! everyone else is already eating! There were only 4 parties there for breakfast- no excuse.

Staff is very friendly, private balcony, beds are comfortable, great ocean view, efficiencies have everything you need, bathrooms are small but it is our favorite place to stay in Cape May.

I just want to let people know that if you make online reservations for the Montreal Inn, special requests will not be honored. I made online reservations in Feb.'06 for June '06. I requested a room on one of the upper floors with an ocean view. When we arrived there, they had assigned us a room on the first floor that was undesirable. When I questioned the manager, he was able to bring up our request on his computer, but told us that we should have called because they do not get the special requests when reservations are made online. No other rooms were available and we were unhappy with the room that we had. So be sure to call them with your specific requests.
