NASWA is a gem!
First of all, take a bad review by a disgruntled employee on here for what it is, a disgruntled employee. Notice majority of reviews are great -I'd agree with that. As far as the reviewer with 2 yr old, realize that 2 yr. olds can run into hazards anywhere. That's why we didn't do a lot of vacationing until our kids were a bit older. I wouldn't say the small cement wall they mentioned separating water from beach sand is a deterrent from the great qualities of NASWA. (it's like a small step to anyone over 4) Every review is relevant to what kind of places the reviewers usually stay at. We are a family with two kids, age 8 and 10. This place was perfect!! We have stayed in suites in 5 star hotels, and we have camped on Cape Cod. NASWA was exactly what I expected. It was a 75 yr. old family run place with the character of yesteryear, but modern amenities and cleanliness everywhere. Impeccable service. We met and spoke with all three sisters who currently run their familiy's resort. They are friendly, family oriented, and hard working. We were presented three coupons upon checking in, for restaurant, free kids' meals, and the gift shop across street. There are kayaks and paddle boats at no charge to guests, a roped off swimming area, free boat slip for guests of hotel, clean, quaint rooms. Rates are affordable. Beach was raked daily, we saw employees scrubbing out garbage cans daily. There is convenience of full service restaurant,(we had delicious breakfast with huge blueberry pancakes i couldn't finish!) as well as proximity to other great places to eat around the Lake. The NASWA outdoor beach bar is huge, and apparently a hot spot for boaters on weekends, with live entertainment. We stayed during week, so it was quiet and certainly not overcrowded. we could sit and have an adult drink, while watching our kids feet away fishing on the docks. Fantastic set up, with our lakeside room with balcony overlooking beach and docks. we could sip coffee while watching our kids play and fish in the morning. The beach bar also has heaters for when it's chilly (not while we were there!), flat screen TV's and a full food menu available. We had nothing but a great time at the NASWA. We met friends there, who vacation with their boat there 5 weeks every summer. The water sports and boating were the highlight of our trip. For boaters, I would say this is an ideal deal of a place!!
