Description

Originally opened as the Sundance in 1980, it later gained the luck of the Irish and became Fitzgerald's. There can not be a luckier place to stay in than Glitter Gulch, from the leprechaun on the roof to the six authentic blarney stones on display, the place exudes good fortune. Hotel guests will enjoy the 42,000 square foot casino, three restaurants and three bars. The comfortable rooms offer a quiet respite from the gambling excitement. Prices fluctuate widely depending upon visitor volume, but this is certainly 'the' place to be in Las Vegas on St. Patrick's Day.

vegas, the old way
By ,
I have stayed at the fitzy for the last ten years...All I need is a bed and a shower...It is older, but the staff has always treated me with respect and assurance. I am not fussy, so, if the toilet works, the shower works, and the bed is comfy, I am good to go. However, since I enjoy freemont street, I like the location. this is not a spa/resort, but simply, a conveniant hotel to the old time "Vegas". I will be there in three days and hope I have the same comfortable experience. It will be interesting how the "D" changes this quaint, old time, casino.... Good luck gamblers...

Love Downtown
By ,
We stayed at the Fitz a week. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the staff was helpful and friendly. We stayed on the 31st floor and had a fabulous view. The slots are loose and they have plenty of the older slot machines, which my husband and I prefer. Could get a very nice breakfast for a reasonable price or just grab coffee at the Krispy Kreme. The buffet was excellent too. Is within walking distance of so much, including the Mob Museum which opened the week we were there. It would have been nice if our room had a fridge, but it certainly wasn't the end of the world. We were out and about everyday, and could always find a parking spot in the garage.

Our home away from home
By ,
My husband and I stay at the Fitz all the time when we go to Vegas, which is usally 4 to 6 times a year. We have done the "strip" thing, but a wise person suggested the Fitz several years ago to us, and we have never regretted our decision to go downtown. Fitz is close to Walgreens, and many party stores downtown. The rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet. The casino staff is always there to help and answer any questions you may have. Each room has it's own safe, which we like very much. If we get hungry in the middle of the nite, there's McD's and Don B's steak hous is great. You are within walking distance of the rest of the casino's downtown, and each one has something for everyone. We like Binnions for the pastrami sandwiches. The Golden Nugget has the shark tank which is fantastic. But, we always go back to the Fitz..because it's our home away from home! Oh..by the way..the bloody mary's they serve at the bar are my favorite breakfast in Vegas!

Perfect Place
By ,
We stayed here back in 2008 and really loved it...so much we are going to stay again next week. We really liked the room and the hotel. We love to play Keno so it works out great. All the staff is really friendly and the coupons they send out are a real money saver! When we go this time, we are staying for 7 nights but since we have great coupons we only have to pay for 2! Can't beat that! Totally recommend and we have stayed at a few different places(Excalibur, The Mirage, Harrah's just to name a few)!

Totally the worst experience I've ever had
By ,
gave a smoking room when non-smoker requested, set up a "air cleaner" that made my wife sick for 3 days.. ( yeah we had a great time in Vegas) . The front desk was NO help or cared less. The poker room has one set of rules for locals and another for visitors. BE SMART, DON'T STAY HERE !!!!

WE LOVED IT !!!
By ,
We went to vegas for the first time and it was an experience to remember! Our stay at the Fitzgerald was great. The staff was friendly and took care of all our needs. The room was very nice and clean and we had a spectacular view of the city. Fremont St. was on fire the whole time we were there. The shows were great, the stores were very convienient, and everything we needed was just a short walk away! We stayed for 7 days and everyday was a new experience. The Vegas strip was a blast, so many things to do and to see, but most of our time was spent on Fremont St. and by no means am i complaining. If you don't get a chance to enjoy the Fremont Experience, then i feel sorry for your luck, and the Fitzgerald is right in the middle!!! The elevators were all working and on time, never had to wait more than a minute. The casinoe isn't the biggest but you can definately win some money. I won $1200 on a dollar slot, luck of the Irish? Maybe, but then again it was my birthday!!. I loved it so much, me and my fiance had a ball and WE DEFINATELY WILL BE BACK SOON. AND WE WILL BE STAYING AT THE FITZGERALD!!

Great value if you know what to expect
By ,
We stayed at the Fitzgerald’s hotel in Las Vegas April 17 – 20, 2010 – we were very happy with the hotel, but you should ensure your expectations align with my description below: Hotel staff is extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. The cleaning people do a great job; bartenders and cocktail waitresses friendly, security apparent. The "concierge" is a guy who sells Fitz show tickets but knows little about what’s going on in Vegas. Rooms: The rooms are basic and clean, like a Best Western. The bathroom has a long vanity, hairdryer, decent toiletries; the towels were functional, not plush. Our shower drained slowly (tip: wet down, turn off water, soap up, then turn on water to rinse off). The wallpaper was discolored and worn in places. The room had 2 double beds, a dresser with 2 drawers, a TV cabinet with 3 drawers, a nightstand, and a table with 2 chairs. I was impressed that they had a surge protector with 5 jacks at the bedside floor, plugged behind the headboard – great for charging cell phones, DVD players, normally hard to find plugs in hotel rooms! There's a very small in-room safe (key lock). The Heat/AC is a manually controlled unit. TIP: Get a room on a high floor (above 19) to limit the noise from Freemont street concerts that go until midnight or later. We were on the 30th floor and could barely hear Freemont street over the hum from our AC unit. The suites are $100 more per night and don’t do complimentary upgrades. Elevators were fast. Pool / hot tub is in a fenced in area just outside with card access. Probably only 25 chairs, but always saw some available. There’s a hot tub as well. The bathroom is just outside the pool gate -- take your room key to get back in. Restaurant: Great ‘double down’ breakfast – eggs / sausage patty or bacon / diced potatoes and choice of toast. Ours was free through Expedia, but a deal even at the regular price of six bucks. Beverage is additional. They also had a 3-stack pancakes for two fifty – wow. At dinner, they have a great cooked to order pasta for eight bucks The McDonalds in the building has good coffee and there’s also a krispy krème. Gaming – there’s $2 blackjack all day; slots were fun, including loose penny slots. Pai-Gow mania is a combination of Pai-Gow with a ‘three card poker’ side bet on the first three cards. Drinks – cocktail waitress comes by often, even penny/nickel slots. Drinks were not watered down. Check out the second floor Vue Bar -- several TVs for sports, and an outside patio that looks onto the Freemont street below- great people watching. Parking – one word – Valet ! Although self-park is free for hotel guests, you have to park on 6th floor or higher, so you’ll be going round and round a square drive upwards. People driving the other way were driving too fast and were not staying on their side – perfect set up for a head on collision. Valet is efficient, and the small tip alone is worth avoiding an accident!

Never Again!!!
We stayed at the Fitzgeralds for 4 nights and were completely unhappy. The rooms are old and falling apart. The price is cheap for a reason. My husband and I will NEVER stay at this place again! The only positive to our stay was the employees from check in to valet were really friendly and attentive. Just goes to show you get what you pay for!

loved where it was at no place was to far. could see and do what we wanted. go up town to the big hotels see the big names and the huge crowds but still come back to some quite time to relax at the vue bar and people watch. take in the lights and live bands. transit system was easy.my sisters who came over from scotland that it was the time yet. every 2 years we pick a place to go in the states. the fitz will be seeing a few more people from bonnie scotland. the prices were great at the freemont experience every where. old las vegas still has it.
