MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa, Stateline

The room was fine, the hotel was great, clean, the food was good, the staff were nice. There are so many bad reviews of this hotel I can't help but think it's former staff who are unhappy. We had no problems, and our stay was wonderful. Don't let them fool you. The place wasn't the Ritz Carlton, but it was sure nice for the money and the pool area is lovely.

seemed nice, newer, and clean in the pics, it isnt. Everything smells like smoke. There is only one set of elevators. There is no soundproofing AT ALL, and door that closes on your floor, you hear. Everyone who walks by talking at a normal voice level, you hear. Our jacuzzi tub didnt work. Beds were okay, but not great. No connection from the parking garage to the hotel, you had to walk around (in the snow!) and go through the lobby. For the price, you could try somewhere better.

Hallways and rooms smell of smoke. The beds are low quality. Besides they cheated by giving a lower end room when we paid for a higher end room which we didn't find out until later.

We were there for a dance competition in June. I accidentally left a skirt and top(purchase price $400). I wore it the last night we were there and must have not put it back in my suitcase. And of course, they didn't find it in the room! Imagine that! Why is it that you can't trust anyone who works in a hotel anymore. It is pathetic that people think they can take something that doesn't belong to them! I would never stay there again. The front desk never answered their phone, either while we were there. It was tough to get extra towels and glasses. It was not family friendly at all. There were inappropriate posters of half dressed women that we had to walk by every day.

BEWARE! We stayed here as part of a medical conference. I am hoping they do not use this hotel again. Our first room was so dated and looked nothing like the pictures online. The shower was full of mildew, and worse,someone elses hair, the bathroom had a sweet-ish smell that we couldn't get rid of. The beds were fine but the chairs were stained and the tables next to the bed had the fronts falling off. We complained to the management who apologized and "wanted to move us to a suite" but there weren't any available. So they moved us to a room on another floor which was in worse condition. The casino was nothing special. We ate at the buffet one night and at their 24 hour restaurant another night. Food was just adequate but no more. Lake Tahoe is such a beautiful place but I have to think there are much better places than the MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa

Beautiful room and and amenities. Will recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to feel fancy without paying an arm and a leg

My husband and I had our first stay at Montbleu this past weekend on Saturday night. We had reservations for a king non-smoking room a month in advance and when we arrived at check-in time we were told that the only non-smoking room available was on the 8th floor, or pet floor. We weren't happy, but rather than argue about it as we were not up for it at the time, we accepted the room, since we are non-smokers and I have had difficulty breathing whenever I've been stuck in a smoking room . Unfortunately, there were non-cleanable stains everywhere, including the bed linens, and it's understood that you will have this on a pet friendly floor, but there were some cleanable stains that hadn't been attended to, like something brown dripping down the entry to the shower/tub, that I ended up scrubbing off with a wash cloth because it wasn't very appealing to see it when entering the shower. Seems like they probably overbooked, but what's the point of making a specific reservation when they end up shuffling you off to the 8th floor. The employee that checked us in was also almost sullen, as if she would rather be anywhere else.

I had a suite. The decor was hideously out of date - think 70's mafia, drug and prostitute movie. I could have lived with that, but the room was so dirty! Major stains on the chairs - to the point that I would not sit on them. The vent was falling down from the ceiling and the air conditioning did not get cold. The refrigerator did not work, so I called the front desk and a new one was brought up (2+ hours later). Its door had sticky drips down it. When they tried to move the old one, they found the cord was plugged in behind a screwed in piece of wood, so had to plug the new one in beside it. In moving the old fridge around to try and unplug it, I saw that it had not been cleaned under/around since 1970. It was very GROSS! I finally went down to the front desk to see if I could be moved. I had to wait until the "mess" of checking out was done (their words, not mine) and then I was moved to another room...I was downgraded to a regular room and it was not much cleaner. I was amazed that the front desk just did not care! I had several run-ins with them (about various things) throughout my stay and would have left the hotel altogether if I had not had a conference at the facility.

Of the 4 hotels/casinos, the Montbleu is by far the nicest and second only to the Horizon in affordability. The room was great, clean. a fabulous shower, and a very comfortable bed. The buffet was good but the menu never changed. The casino was stylish, hip, high ceilings, almost elegant. Beware on some websites that talk about free internet service in the rooms, wrong, there is a charge, and the business center has no access. Add $10 daily to your room charge, sort of a surcharge for the fitness center, free water, etc. Oh, the fitness center is great with a full weight room and a large and inviting indoor pool. Don't bother even crossing the street to the Horizon, Major dump and the buffet was one of the worst I've ever experienced. The Forest buffet at Harrahs is not to be missed, good food and a killer view. Harrahs and Harveys, generic but fun casinos. I found little need to leave the Montbleu. Enjoy.

The casino and restaurants are all pretty nice with average service. The friendliness of the dealers is marginal--some are nicer than others. Opal lounge has great service and hookah, which is the only spot in South Lake. The poker room is friendly, with many bad tourist players, but a few decent locals play as well. The rooms: spacicious and comfortable beds, but very outdated decor. I probably wouldn't go in the jucuzzi tub if you paid me. These rooms are not too bad, but they definitely need a facelift and need to be cleaned better. All in all, none of the south shore hotels are really that fabulous when compared to Vegas standards. Harrah's probably has the best rooms and a better casino, but you could do worse than MontBleu
