Stay somewhere else
This used to be an Embassy Suites about 10 years ago, and then they downgraded to a Doubletree. We've had problems everytime we've stayed there (about three times a year). First of all, you don't get the warm chocolate chip cookies that have become a promotional staple for Doubletree (but that's minor complaint). The hotel is very noisy since everything is built around a central atrium that goes through every floor. In addition, there's a a 2-3 inch gap between the floor and the outside door, so the outside noises come in even more so. There have been parties in their convention/ball room during several of our stays. The hotel allows these parties to set up tables in the hallway outside the convention room and all of the noise filters upward (since there's no real hallways). So even if you're one the 6th floor, you can still hear the conversations from those parties. On two different stays, these parties were still loud going on past 10 p.m. We called several times to the front desk to ask them for help to quiet down the party (because we had babies trying to sleep), and they would not ask the party to quiet down. Instead, they just said that the party should be wrapping up soon. Also, forget any kind of service if you need extra towels or the crib you ordered. On different stays we had to call several times to housekeeping to get those items. Within the last year, they have taken out the central vanity that separated the living room from the bedroom, so there's one less place to get ready in the morning. Also, there's a too-wide-of-a-gap between the bathroom door and the floor, so if you're in the bedroom, you can hear everyone's buisiness, if you know what I mean. Lastly, it costs about $11 per person to eat their buffet breakfast (it's cheaper to go to the Denny's across the parking lot). We always used to go to Doubletree because we wanted a suite. We had so many problems there, that we decided to try a different hotel in the same area that had suites. We tried Homewood Suites (on Hascall Street), which is up the road. It is way better - you still get a suite, plus it's about 10 bucks cheaper than Doubletree. It's much quieter and a hot breakfast is included in your room price.
