Less frills, more substance please
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/16/09
Stayed here last night. I had a big national nursing board exam at 7am and hoped to get a good night's sleep. Well, when they built this nice hotel, they spent all the money in frills and forgot to insulate the walls! Had to move rooms at midnight because I could hear my neighbors chatting and laughing (and the wouldn't shut up even after maintenance told them there was a noise complaint). Also, the doors are heavy and you can hear people above, below and to the sides of you closing doors (sounds like a prison). Moved rooms, got some sleep and woke up to find that they DON'T have any kind of continental breakfast "we have a restaurant attached to the hotel that starts serving at 6am". So, I ended up having to pay $8 for a bowl of cereal, some coffee and a scrabbled egg. After paying a $101 for the room, you'd think they'd have some kind of measly breakfast. Lastly, the location is great if you are taking your NCLEX (or any other exam) at the Arcade building as it is right across the foot street. If I have to retake my NCLEX, I'd stay here again just for the convenience, otherwise, I would NEVER stay again at this specific hotel.

Unorganized staff
By Heather, 06/16/09
The hotel staff was very unorganized. We were charged extra for both our hotel stay and when we ate at the Quarry Bar and Grill. If I would not have called and complained these charges would have been made. Would not stay here again!

Good hotel, great location
By abby, 11/10/08
We've stayed here twice in the past three months. It's well priced, clean and comfortable with a friendly staff...not the Ritz but a nice place to stay and (we think) a great location. And they allow dogs; a big plus. For a good place to eat just a short walk away try Benny's Bistro. It's also a short walk to the Holter Museum of Art.

Glorified Travel Lodge
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/07/08
This hotel USED to be a Travel Lodge. It has a new name but WORSE service. 1. Rooms were not cleaned daily (we stayed 4 nights). Soap was removed and not replaced. We had requested an extra blanket for sleeping on night #1. On night #3 the blanket was removed. The room came with 4 hangars - we had to call for 3 more. We got cheap type that they give out at the dry cleaners. 2. Bathroom sink was poorly cleaned. 3. Restaraunt had LOUSY service. At breakfast, we seated ourselves. There were approximately 20 tables with 6 -10 people sitting. It was NOT very busy at all. We then proceeded to wait 4+ minutes before anyone acknowledged us. A minute later someone came by with ONE menu "We're out of menues - can you share?" I asked the male waiter what the "special" for today was. He started to recite it, then excused himself to go get confirmation about what it was. He came back 15 seconds later and started again to recite the "special". He AGAIN forgot and started BACK to the kitchen to get clarification. At that point I got up and left. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I'VE HAD POOR SERVICE IN THIS RESTARAUNT. While we were there we were told to place a white paper in the windshield area of our rental car, so that the cops wouldn't cite us overnight from the parking lot. We did. Somehow that paper got lost after the second day. We went back to get ANOTHER one, but the front desk person said "Dont' worry about it - the parking lot is not monitored at all on the weekends". I still had them make one out for me anyway. Next morning I came down and overheard an upset customer getting into it with the front desk because HIS car HAD been cited overnight - after being clearly told NOT to worry about it by the front desk. For $85/nite in October - the rate was decent for the market. However, the extremely poor customer service totally soured us on the hotel - and - we will NOT be back.

Good By Me
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/03/07
For us, the location was excellent. Downtown and quiet. Good view of Montana mountains. Service was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. Newly renovated, the rooms were nothing special - but clean and everything worked and the price was right. One of the best features was the hotel restaurant and bar. Excellent menu, good prices and friendly service. We visit Helena two or three times a year and will return.

Park Plaza Needs new Management
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/23/07
I am not sure where you can hire people for management when they have NO clue what is going on. The hotel itself is nice, situated downtown; the building has been recently renovated. My room was average. I had the option of a view of mountains or the city, which was nice. There is a pool, but it is quite small. The building was within walking distance to several local bars. I will not stay in this hotel because of poor service. I believe that new management, a manager with business experience and social skills, might entice me to try the hotel again.

Catering guest
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/07/06
I attended a dinner catered by the hotel. The dinner went very well from the standpoint of food and service. We then adjourned to one of the guest suites which was very nice. I plan to stay there in the future. It is no longer a Holiday Inn - now Park Plaza.
