El Western is a unique blend of authentic western charm and todays comforts in a picture-perfect mountain setting. El Western captures the spirit of old west hospitality and style, but we rub off the rough edges with fluffy pillows and beautifully appointed log cabins. Our manicured lawns and towering spruce trees are a southwest Montana landmark. The cabins and lodges of El Western come in many different sizes and are available for overnight or extended stay. Deluxe kitchen cabins or premier lodges with fireplaces are perfect for fishing buddies or families. El Western Cabins & Lodges - a proud Montana tradition since 1948.

7 reviews for El Western Cabins & Lodges, Ennis
A Fabulous Find
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/08
We have stayed several times at the El Western and each time we marvel at the friendly family management and the pristine condition of the cabins. If you are looking for a clean, quiet base for fly fishing or just exploring the town of Ennis you can't go wrong!!

Personal Touch
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/19/07
The El Western is a special hotel/resort in a special setting. Truly an "old west" habitat, with cozy log cabins and a resident Golden Retriever to greet you when you a arrive. The owners live onsite, and will help you in whatever you need. Joining in the evening chat around the front lobby by dragging your chair over from your own porch is another way to learn about the area. The owners know EVERYONE in the area, being longtime residents. If you want to get into "town" it's a short drive or a longer walk. However, there's not much to walk into, as Ennis has not gone the way of Jackson Hole. If you want a Jackson Hole experience, go to Jackson Hole, not Ennis. I personally hope Ennis keeps it's rustic charm. Downside - Montana has not needed air conditioning - until lately. There IS no AC at this hotel; it does cool down nicely at night. But when we were there and it was over 100 degrees, the days were uncomfortable! Luckily each room does have a fan.

We're going back in '07
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/27/06
This is a lovely little motel if you like cabin living. Very nice, with a stream running past the back of the property. Very friendly innkeepers. Very reasonably priced. We ate at a bar/restaurant in town about 3/4 of a mile walk from our rooms. Lovely view from the porch!! We're passing through there again in summer of 07 and plan to stay there.

Not really a resort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/06
Away from town and no activities . Every time we wanted to do something the whole famialy had to go or be isolated in the motel room with nothing to do but watch tv. A long way from Resturants and night spots. Many of the units are OLD.

Beautiful lodge
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/06
I had considered the El Western Lodge as a possible one night stop based on the positive comments from other travelers. They were right. The cabins are immaculate and in incredibly pristine condition. I could not fit any fishing into our schedule, but it looks like a fantastic base for fly fishermen and several were there during our stay. They looked like they were having a great time. one thing to watch for is that the facility is not actually where it is reflected on the Yahoo map. (As of 7/06) It is actually just a bit south-east of Ennis on Highway 287 The map shows it a little north of town. It's well worth a visit.

What a Montana gem!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/15/05
We happened upon this property on our way to Yellowstone NP and truly fell in love with it. Stayed in a creekside cabin. Even took a family photo by the waterwheel for our Christmas card. The cabin was spotlessly clean and the owners very friendly. We already have reservations for next year!

A fantastic experience!
By Brian, 09/15/05
I don't normally post reviews, but the El Western is such a unique place that I thought it deserves some special praise. I have never had a more refreshing vacation than I had at this motel. A buddy of mine from Salt Lake City drove up to meet me for a long weekend of fly-fishing and just generally getting away from work. We picked the El Western because of its proximity to the Madison River and from what we saw on their website -- we figured it would be clean and quiet. It was! But it was more than that . . . The motel itself is a bunch of log cabins -- really cool western decor and REALLY clean, I mean spotless! We definitely tipped more than we do -- congrats to the housekeeping staff! And the cabins themselves are quite impressive. They are well kept, fully furnished -- this isn't some woodland cottage, this is a fully functional motel with a country and western vibe. Anyway, the location is just unbelievable; right in the middle of a valley with views from any point on the property. The website only touches the surface of how beautiful this place is. It has amazingly wide lawns -- think White House -- and giant pine trees all over the property. It was so relaxing to just sit out on the porch after a long day on the river (which was also great, by the way. 19 inch Rainbow Trout, baby!) and enjoy a couple of drinks with our neighbors. Even the owners dropped by to chat for a while! It's just that kind of place. Ennis itself is a really cool town -- surprisingly good food and highly entertaining bars. I was sorry to have to go and will DEFINITELY be back as soon as my schedule allows.
