piss poor management
By 14stewart, 01/24/10
Liked location, didn't like "manager" yelling at employee who at the time was trying to help me with directions, food wasn't as great as the price, breakfast I had to ask for more hash browns, ate lunch across the street at buns and beds (owner calls it bugs and beds) he should check his own sheets instead of sitting at the bar being unsociable and get rid of his attitude. manager lets employee's sit in office and smoke "really reaks" employees except a few were unfriendly especially the waiter F___k very rude, the breakfast waitress can't remember her name was extremely friendly I think her name was Sue, we ate pizza down the street at the bar where most of the locals hang out even their employees, bought them a drink and had a good time went to the lodge to have a drink with a couple of them and the bartender/manager didn't great us with a smile just acted like we shouldn't be interupting her card game with one of her favorite employees (who is supposed to work across the street) complained to the kitchen about our food and he just said "wasn't me that cooked it" like don't bother me when I'm drinking. So much for "Happy New Year" thanks for the rotten time to the crew of jerks, and thanks for the good conversation with a few of the good ones, (that remember how to treat a customer.) I'd give names but don't want them to get in trouble with the witch of cooke city, "don't forget your broom". And for the guy that brings in the firewood thanks for the only comfort the lodge gives keep up the smilin' and the good attitude. All in all was it worth it NO WAY Rooms were ok attitude really SUCKS from the majority of the employees especially the manager "smoke your cigarettes out side and leave your attitude there also". Would we stay there again NO WAY, would stay in a tent and freeze before there. Will stop in to see if the friendly ones are still around. Picing was too high someone said they just spent a bunch of money on a remodle, but are we supposed to pay for that? Food "if you could call it that" was ok at best but way too overpriced. We will come back to cooke city but won't stay there if we have to we will stay somewhere in Livingston and drive there and back.

Don't stay at this hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/04/09
This place is very run down with bad management to ensure it will only get worse. Place is full of cigarette smoke (in room, too); no shampoo and no hairdryers (none available at desk either). Management office by rooms and is very smoky. Substandard everything.

Horrible stay - Bad room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/13/09
Stayed in Rm 102 - NO Clothing hangers, NO Coffee, NO internet except in lobby, NO hot water late at night/No sink stopper, Had to ask for cups/TP/soap (None in room on arrival), Electrical wiring coming out of heater, Staff less than professional. Next day at Breakfast spoke to town folk about stay - they laughed and said they knew how bad it was and said they were sorry. Never again - Foretold is forewarned - good luck

Great sledding,great people!
By Lindsay, 12/20/06
Have stayed there a few times, it has great atmosphere and holds some wonderful memories of friends and good company! The view is breathtaking! The Annual Auction and Hog roast are well worth the trip... and the party! A + you guys, Keep up the good work!

Listen to the Locals
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/06
We were there in Oct. When unpacking our car, a local resident walked by and warned us not to stay here. They also said they recently had the worst meal of their life here. We had already checked in though (but we did go elsewhere to eat). The whole place smelled of cigarette smoke. Our room was cold (but eventually heated up with an ancient electric heater). The only furniture was the bed and one small uncomfortable chair. The only light other than in the bath and doorway was a single mini-bulb on the wall over the bed. No lamp, no table, nothing else. Very stark. And the TV had no local channels at all, not even regional - just cable channels. I had been hoping for something with some character rather than staying in the chains, but I should have gone to the Super 8.

Soda Butte Lodge, Great Lobby
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/24/05
The rooms were clean. The people were frendly. The restaurant has great food. Every thing was located right in the building.
