The most amazing night of my life at this hotel!!! I stayed at this hotel without looking at the reviews! Boy did I walk away feeling like the lucky one! We had a little issue with the air/heater and I explained it to Shauna and she upgraded us to the most gorgeous suite ever! We just re-booked that same room as it was such an amazing night! This hotel is TERRIBLE
By Kimberly, 7/20/11
If you ever believe anyone about anything in your entire life, please believe me when I tell you not to stay at this hotel. *It is completely run down with stains on the furniture and the carpets. The first elevator off of the lobby goes to floors that are in the process of being demolished and are not air conditioned. There are no signs anywhere to warn you of this fact and the front desk person didn't tell us to use the elevators that were down the hall and around a corner. Do not believe the pictures that are on the internet, the place is a total dump. *The TV didn't work, there was no internet, and there was no phone in the room. *The person at the front desk was new and alone and not much help. I made arrangements in advance to have more than 2 pets in the room because we were moving cross country and he disputed it. Apparently the person we made reservations with did not notate our account correctly. *We called down (on our cell phone) to ask about the restaurant and were told there was no room service, but tit was open until 10 and we could order take out. My husband went downstairs around 8:45 (we had been driving all day and got there late) and the restaurant was closed! We had to eat bar food. In case you are thinking that we were just crabby because we were traveling long hours, the hotel we stayed at the next night in Ohio was wonderful. Everything there just went so smoothly and they did everything they could to make sure we had what we needed. By comparison we were completely on our own in this hotel, with no help, in horrible conditions, and couldn't WAIT to get out of there. What a nightmare.

In major need of overhaul
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/10
We stayed due to proximity to World's of Fun. This hotel has seen better days and needs to be shut down and totally remodeled. Unprofessional staff, unstocked complimentary breakfast; it was a total joke, trash in pool area for over 3 days, no shower curtain in room, phone broke, dead bolt broke, toilet paper holder broke, tub drain broke, filthy windows everywhere, dead plants in pots all around pool area, no consierge (sp?) service, no bell hop, 1 of the 2 elevators broken, no air cond. in fitness room, great fitness equipment but not one turned on and actually worked, outward appearance of hotel and parking lot in major need of repair, lobby nearly vacant of seating and decor, so called "lake" is more of an unkept swamp area. NEVER AGAIN!

absolutely amazing!!!!

We had a little issue with the air/heater and I explained it to Shauna and she upgraded us to the most gorgeous suite ever! We just re-booked that same room as it was such an amazing night! Perfect location in KC...and the view from the wall of windows was amazing! Be sure and ask for one of the upper floors to get the best view of Kansas City. No hotel stay is ever perfect...ours was however because I asked for some help instead of getting online and whining about it afterwards! Thanks To Shauna for an amazing stay and giving us one of the most amazing nights of our life!

Would not recomend this hotel
By Darrell, 8/29/09
The hotel was overpriced, the pool was closed, and they were out of coffee in the rooms. One of the reasons we stayed here was because of the indoor/outdoor pool, they could have let us know that the pool was closed upon arrival, the kids were very upset. We weren't impressed with the staff, they didn't really care it seemed like to us.

Awful - stay away!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/08
This hotel is dirty. The ring in our toilet was so bad it looked as if it hadn't been scrubbed in years. The room (and entire hotel for that matter) had a musty odor. I woke up unable to breathe and had no way of getting fresh air into our room as the windows do not open. There was obnious evidence of water damage and I cringe to think of what might be growing under the wallpaper. By the way - the pink tint on the walls is the beginning of mold growth. YUK! The staff was very unfriendly and it seemed we were interrupting anytime we asked a question. Getting extra towels was a hassle. They seem to decide how many towels you get no matter what amount you ask for. My daughter was actually told we have already given your room extra towels and cannot give you any more. The so-called lake is nothing more than a watering[gathering place for loud obnoxiuos birds. It is not well maintained and looks contaminated. The parking lot is in need of some major reapirs as well as the exterior. Our first impression upon driving up to the hotel was not good. I can't see why anyone would waste their time or money on this hotel.

Not For Business
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/14/07
My family and I recently stayed at this hotel. We selected it because of its location near Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun. I had read previous negative reviews, but thought we would try it anyway. The check-in process was fairly lengthy. I am not sure if this was due to new personnel or their poor computer system. The rooms were recently remodeled and clean. Attempting to get an ice bucket for one of the rooms was an adeventure. We asked at the front desk and one never arrived until we happened to run into the fron desk attendant some hours later and finally a bucket arrived at the room. On our first evening, we ventured to the hotel restaurant. It was closed. We were directed to the bar (with two teenage girls) and told that we could eat there. The bar was smoky and filled with a number of people who clearly had already consumed several drinks. When we asked why the restaurant was closed, we were told that "a girl called in sick". I guess that they are not capable of running the restaurant when they are short one person. We each ordered a chicken ceasar salad. After 30 minutes passed, we were told that they were out of dressing! In the morning, my one of my daughters and I went to the restaurant and had an absolutely terrible breakfast. My daughter found several large pieces of egg shells in her omlette and simply could not eat it. The hotel advertises free wireless internet access. In the two nights we stayed, we were unable to connect to the internet. The sole workstation in the lobby was constantly occupied, so I assume that the other hotel guests were having the same problem. While the hotel was conveniently located and generally clean, the price was somewhat high. Two rooms for two nights cost us nearly $600.00. Because of its location, I would recommend this hotel to families who want to attend the nearby amusement parks. However, I would suggest that they plan in advance where they want to eat. When we asked the front desk for a recommendation for a restaurant the second evening, they were very helpful. However, they sent us south of town to Kansas City, KS to the closest Applebees, which sent us through the downtown area at rush hour. I would not recommend this hotel for business travellers based on the poor experience we had with the food service and the lack of intent access.

Not the Greatest Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/27/06
My wife & child went with another couple & their kids. Other couple had to change rooms 3 times due to poor maintenance of showers & sinks. Our room was okay but not very clean. Hotel in great location as it is near downtown Crown Plaza and Country Plaze. Area around the hotel is run down. Picture of website shows nice lake views. Lake is more of a pond with large brush & weeds growing around it. Landscaping around the hotel is terrible. Parking area is not clean either. Overall, not a great stay with a family. If on your own, maybe a place to stay.

Great Value
By Frank, 8/14/05
We had a newly renovated room with an LCD TV and free high speed internet access. The desk was big so there was plenty of room to work. We only ate lunch at the hotel and it was great. Very reasonable rates and the place even smells very clean. When we travel to Kansas City, this is our new secret discovery.
