No real complaints
By Thomas, 08/05/08
I stayed there to beat the heat of July/Aug '07. The room was larger than most motels I've stayed at lately. Had a large comfortable bed and a very comfy leather recliner. They could have used a bigger TV, but the channel selection was much more than basic cable. The microwave and fridge were handy, but to make it better, an in room coffee maker would help. The only real complaint I had about the whole stay, the shower. Although it was spotless, as was the whole room, they need the scald guard valves. I had to keep adjusting the temp up and down depending on how many others started and stopped using the hot water. There was plenty available, just had to keep fiddling to keep from getting cooked. All and all, not a bad stay, I have had much worse experiences from the cookie cutter chain motels, which cost more than I had paid here. I will consider using this motel any time I in the area.

I can wait a fair amount of time to go back.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/20/08
My experience in room 206 of the American Inn was that of walking into a dark cave... a cave with no lightbulbs... a cave where once I went down to the desk to get a lightbulb was still a dark cave because the lamps weren't plugged in and while I got down on my knees and risked electrocution by feeling for an outlet began to realize there were no outlets. Nope. Not kidding. The only outlet on a whole wall was on a direct centerline with the bed, so to use my laptop I had to pull the bed into the middle of the room. Oh.. and the bathtub didn't hold water, and in the process of not holding water, sounded like a very sad cow getting squeezed by a very sad vice. They did have a recliner though... if I'd had reclining needs... which I didn't.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/07
I drive for Riverside Transport and want to thank the staff at Americian Inn Aourmor rd They always go the xtra to make sure our stay is a good one. We consider this as our nhome away from home, as the staff treats us well. We now have moved to Mo and if need room it will be here, also we will continue to eat at the resturant while we are in town again thanks for your service and warmth Thomas and Joi Poe

Needs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/14/06
This Inn needs microwaves and refrigerators in every room. They have a resturant in the building but it's not always open and some times you might just want to eat in your room. How about keeping a soda sold for later drinking.

Rude and inconsiderate desk clerk
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/24/05
I was quoted one price when I made the reservation at this exact hotel, and charged a higher rate when I got there. I told them both when I made the reservation and when I checked in that I needed a 6pm checkout time and they did not charge me for the checkout day. I was working nights and at 11:30 am they called me not once but twice once the maid service and then the desk clerk. The clerk insisted I come up to the desk right then and pay for an additional night and I told her I was sleeping and she threatened to call the police. They had my credit card information already and they still insisted I come up to the front right then and there and would not wait until I checked out. The clerk was rude and the manager stood behind her rudeness. I cancelled my reservation for the next visit I had planned.

Great Place To Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/05
I stayed at the American Inn earlier this year when my truck broke down in kc. The staff was great the lounge was awesome and the price was unbeatable, especially compared to the holiday inn and comfort inn located nearby.I would recommend American Inn any day. T. Whitten

Would Definitely Stay There Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/06/05
They took our family in at midnight when the power went out at home during a recent ice storm. The front desk staff was friendly, yet professional. Along with an in-house restaurant (also a small lounge), there is every conceivable fast-food franchise within a reasonable walking distance. The building’s décor is rather dated, but our room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. There is plenty of free parking, a good choice of cable television channels, and also a coin-op laundry room. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend to anyone looking for reasonably priced accommodations in the Northland area of Kansas City.
