DON'T GO HERE!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/09
Con woman in the lobby bumming food & wants you to get her a room, EXTREMELY RUDE hotel staff...if that front desk guy rolls his eyes at me one more time..., NONE of the soda machines work, bellman lost my bags, valet lost my car. These are just the highlights. We were there for a conference & I thought I was the only one having a rough time at this hideous hotel...did I mention the 18 layers of dirty paint on the doors, the smelly rooms & the really old cabinets in your over priced room? I overheard two of our clients complain about how the hotel staff was rude to them as well! At least they are equal opportunity rude. The pool & rooftop view are NOT handicap accessible. The windows are extremely dirty so don't waste your money paying for that 'view'. All you see is grime. You know your in trouble when the staff at the hotel restaurant recognizes the con woman bumming food. Would be nice if they had told me or if the hotel had some kind of security. My worst St. Louis experience EVER!

I expected a little more
By Alexa R, 06/21/09
We got a 2 room suite for the 3 of us. The first impression was great: Large living room with big windows, balcony, big kitchen area, big master bedroom with large closet, decent bathroom, second bedroom was small but nice with smaller bath. We realized that the carpet was old and that the kitchen was missing a stove, dishwasher, dishes. It looked like it used to have these things and the areas were boarded up. The microwave was dirty. The second bathroom had a shower stall, but it also had a regular bathtub spout about 18 inches from the floor, so you had to start the shower using the spout and then pull up for the shower. Odd. We couldn't get the temperature warm enough during our summer visit; we were a little chilly. Outside the room, the hotel smelled old. The hotel acted like it was super nice, but the smell and the carpet really made it low in my opinion. Make sure you go to the pool and see the arch, it's really nice.

Great downtown location
By SheRidesABeemer, 05/04/09
I was a bit worried booking this hotel for a week's stay with my teenage daughter. The reviews seem to indicate that it was going to be a tired, maybe rundown downtown hotel. Those fears diminished when we entered the lobby, they evaporated when we opened the door to our spacious room, bright, clean room. We opened the curtains, and there was the Arch. We were right where we needed to be. Pluses: hard wire internet access, 100% reliable. Wireless was available at a charge, but we didn't bother. Very large room, didn't feel cramped for a one week stay (we were only two). Refurbished bath room. Not especially large, but was fine. Coffee maker in the room got a lot of use! The cleaner left extra coffee when I asked. And an extra box of tissue (we had colds). You can't control the heat/AC, but we did not find that a problem. The staff was always friendly and accommodating. I wish they'd explained the parking situation a little better, you need to get your garage tix validated. Only $10 a day, in/out as much as you want. We were so centrally located we walked a lot. We never had to wait for elevators, that was bonus! This hotel was so easy to fine as we ventured around the downtown. It is adjacent to the Hyatt, and in the shadow of the Arch. Couldn't ask for a better location. Minuses: Could have used a table or two, the desk was the only table in the room, it got really busy. The cable sucks, we were in our room most evenings, and one day due to sickness. HBO yes, but then a bunch of sports channels and network TV. No TLC, Discovery or Food Network. Movies where 12.99 OMG! We broke down and rented one...seemed like a rip off. Mid West smoking! If you're from the East, you forget about the stale odor of smoke everywhere. Our room was fine, but the lobby had that lingering smell, as do the area restaurants. When you are calculating your room cost, you should know there are city & state taxes that add almost $10 a day to your tab.

Will be going back in 2009
By Jacalyn, 11/24/08
We stayed 4-days at the Crowne Plaza for the 2008 YTB Travel Convention to help build our business and the room was great! Staff were very friendly, the beds were extremely comfortable and the food in the lounge was excellent! Wyatt Travels

awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/15/08
the hotel itself was beautiful and the staff was so-so..one little girl (employee) at the check-in kept giggling the whole time so that was annoying and then we got to the room..looks were deceiving... we had dirty towels left in the bathroom on the rack above the tub and the drinking glass's were full of water with the paper caps on them..hhmmmmm whats up with that. don't think i will ever be back in st.louis in the future and if i was i wouldn't stay here..plus i found out i could have stayed a lot cheaper next door...rip off for sure

The hotel smells really bad almost like a sewer. Rooms are big but they are out dated. I will never stay at this hotel again

Great Location, Hotel leaves a lot to be desired.
Well the Location of the Crowne Plaza was great, right across the street from the arch and old courthouse. When I walked in a got a little worried... it was partially in ruins from the renovations... The elevators feel like they're from the 20's, small and dark. I got an upgrade to a King size bed on the 10th floor. The room was huge but right away I noticed the huge stains all over the carpet and funny smell.... it was much worse near the tv and table. The staff was very nice and helpful. The sundries shop was nothing more than 3 vending machines which didn't seem to work. I had to go next store to the Adam's Mark Hotel to buy soda pop and snacks and souvenirs. I hope that once the renovations are complete this hotel will be much nicer.

Don't say here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/25/07
Although the price is attractive for downtown, there is a reason. The service is absolutely terrible...the people at the desk are very rude. The hotel is old and not maintained, several things in the room where broken; drawers, chairs, iron, etc...lamps with burned out bulbs, stained carpets, vending machines empty and /or not working. Rooms are unclean, no coffee, I could go on and on. In summary if you are looking for a nice place to stay in St. Louis go somewhere else.

Two fantastic experiences- superb value and comfort
By Shawn S, 08/27/07
Pros: Where to begin? Unbelievably spacious, well-equipped rooms. The comfortable king-sized bed took up ~15% of the room. Stellar location, within two blocks of the Arch, the Old Courthouse, riverboat and helicopter tours, Kiener plaza, Busch Stadium, four blocks from the Jones Dome (Rams), ten blocks from the Scottrade Center (Blues). The area is clean and secure. Awesome views from both sides of the hotel- 90% of the rooms face either the north (MLK bridge and casinos) or south (Arch). Professional, courteous staff. Great room and maid service. Classy bar on main floor with nice daily drink specials. No commercialized corporate nonsense near the hotel (for example, the only thing resembling a fast food chain within walking distance is Subway). There are a few nice steakhouses and Italian restaurants on Market St. Cons: As stated before, the garage is cramped and smells awful throughout. I would typically hold my breath upon exiting the hotel given the absolutely inane location of the dumpsters. Another oddity: paid $10/night to park even though the daily limit for the garage is $8. Nice card-access business/vending area, though they charge $0.50/minute to use the PC! Still, these are minor issues that are not incorrigible. Tip: I noticed that virtually every day, the lobby was filled with people checking in between 3-5pm, as they only have two agents, hence the wait for some was 30-45 minutes. To avoid this hassle, on both trips, I checked in around 6pm and waited less than five minutes. Overall, I look forward to my next stay at this lovely hotel and fabulous city!

OLD AND WORN.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/25/06
THE RADISSON IS OLD AND WORN. NEVER ACCEPT A ROOM ON THE 4TH, 5TH OR 6TH FLOOR. THE HOTEL IS BESET WITH MOLD. IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES YOU WILL FEEL THE EFFECTS. SOME OF THE ROOMS ON THE TOP FLOORS HAVE EXCELLENT VIEWS AND HAVE BEEN REMODELED. THE LOWER FLOORS HAVE OBVIOUSLY NOT. SOMEONE SHOULD BUY THE LOT, TEAR DOWN THE HOTEL, AND BUILD ANEW. THE A/C CAN NOT BE CONTROLLED, THE FAUCETS LEAK, AND SO ON. AVOID UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.
