Has been FORECLOSED! Thieves!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/20/11
Our stay was fine until on our 2nd to last day we were there, the lights went out. We didn't think anything of it. I have been in hotels where this has happened and it hasn't been a problem. Well, we didn't know that the lights had gone off due to their not paying their bills! Since we couldn't open windows and it was warm we decided to go about our day. When we returned we were met by Security, informing us the hotel was being foreclosed and we needed to get our stuff and go! We were all sort of surprised until we got to our door and found it open! Of course my Laptop and iPod were gone! Had I read the reviews about other burglaries, I never would have booked! Don't do it!

Stay away from this dump
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/10
We stepped out of our room, locked the door and returned within 10 minutes. While we were gone, my cell phone, watch, necklace and spare car keys were stolen from the room. The manager said he would file a police report, but upon checking later had not. We then phoned the police and an officer came within 10 minutes. He stated that this motel is constantly having problems with thefts. We had to park our car off hotel property to avoid it being stolen. Rooms were not clean either and desk staff rude. Avoid this motel!!

Okay, but NEVER going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/16/08
Pros: Waterpark was a blast for my five year old, maid was nice. Cost was okay. Cons: We booked a pool side room for extra $. When we arrived we were told the pool was closed for maintenance. It looked old and the games by the pool were powered down, and there was no puck for the air hockey. The dry play area for little kids had several burnt out lightbulbs, so the kids were running around in the dark. The staff never said sorry about the pool or hot tub never being reopened our entire 2 night stay. Sorry, but the whole place (besides waterpark) was not nice and I would rather pay double and actually feel like I was on a NICE vacation rather than an eighties time warp.

Waterpark was Good, Hotel was OK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/26/08
The Grand Rios Waterpark was a lot of fun. We stayed at the hotel over Easter weekend, and the waterpark was not very busy. My entire family had a blast at the waterpark. I would highly recommend the waterpark to anyone. The hotel was just OK. The hotel pool was really poor. The water was very cold and just not a very inviting area. My kids would not even get in the pool, and they usually just jump right in. There was a climbing gym that my kids seemed to enjoy, which was located close to the pool. Our hotel room smelled musty. It just needed a good, deep cleaning. We were lucky in that we beat the 4pm check-in time. However, we seen lines at the front desk for a couple hours on Friday with people waiting to check-in. The hotel really needs a good cleaning and updating. The food and service was good at the restaurant. The hotel is basically overpriced. In the future, we will probably stay at a different hotel and just get a general admission pass to the waterpark.

Loved the Grand Rios!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/28/07
The Hurricane Plunge is a lot of fun! The guest rooms are beautiful. We didn't eat in the restaurant so I can't comment. We will go back!

NOT PERFECT ~ BUT A GREAT GETAWAY
By Michelle, 12/26/06
Pros: * The waterpark was wonderful, however we went on a Thursday. It has something for every age. * The food service was quick and staff was friendly. * Our room location was perfect, I think it was room 227. We had 2, somewhat small, beds. However, we had a sliding door to a semi-private patio with a indoor climbing structure and very close to the smaller pool and hottub. * We did not have the wait that other people have been disgusted with, again we went on a Thursday. Cons: * My biggest complaint was the room. For the price it was small. It did not have a fridge, which is needed with kids. What if you had an infant that needed bottles refridgerated, etc.? Our room had HUGE holes and stains in the carpet. In fact, I called and asked that someone come down and view our carpets and document the condition because I did not want them to blame the damage on me and charge my account. * Some of the lifeguards seemed unattentive, especially in the childrens area. Others were overattentive and complained to patrons about little matters. This did not bother me too much. In fact my husband and I found humor in the slumped over, half sleeping lifeguard and the future police officer that had control issues and an anxiety disorder and the male lifeguard that was too in awe of a female lifeguard to focus on his job. We of course watched our own children. * They had told me that they would charge my account for the room and the deposit. We went out to eat after we checked out and to our surprise, our credit card was declined. How embarrassing! Come to find out, our credit card was charged an extra $300. Which of course was refunded after 2 WEEKS. Due to the extra charges, I only had $16 left on my account, not enough to buy breakfast for five people. Thank god, I did not go over my limit and incure extra charges on my credit card! We had another card, needless to say we were not happy. When I called the hotel they claimed this procedure was normal protocall. They claimed that they chardge the room for a 2 night stay in the summer, even if you only stay one night??? They REASSURED me that I would be refunded my money. I of course received the same attitude many other people have stated they encountered. Recommendations: * I will return, the family had a great time. * I will request the same room area. * I will note any damage to the room and have the staff document it for my protection. * I will clarify the damage deposit procedure and perhaps pay in cash. This way, I know what they honestly charge and I will receive my damage deposit at check-out, not 2 weeks later. * Of course, I will supervise my own children!

I was bitten by bed bugs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/16/06
The waterpark was nice, but while sleeping at the hotel I was bitten 20 times by bedbugs. I stayed at the Brooklyn Park location. I'm not the type to sue people, but if someone else is bitten, they might. My familty stayed in room 1047 on Friday, August 11th, 2006.
