Disappointied in Bloomingtong

This hotel was such a disappointment after having several good experiences at Clarion brand in general.
If you are a business traveler, you'll know what I mean about the importance of a bed. The new rage is "heavenly beds" or something of that nature....lost of pillows, duvets, etc. I experienced a 10 year old mattress, hard as a rock, with 3 foam pillows and a bed spread that is full of pulled strings and looks like it stepped out of the early 90s.
The towels are cheap and scratchy, and the lamps have bulbs that must be at 30 watts...I could barely read by that light at night! The service was embarassingly bad. The front desk is full of sloppily dressed people in STREET clothes...(when did nice hotels stop issuing uniforms???) ...and full of attitude to match.
My keys had to be rekeyed each day I stayed with you...and I got attitude each time when asking for a new key! "Did you go through security anywhere?" We live in a post-9/11 society...who doesn't go through security
of some sort during their day? I was told that any store at the mall can demagnetize your key. I don't know how much things have changed, but after working in the hotel industry for several years, this thing rarely happened to my guests...and if it did, I merely apologized and fixed it. I didn't give lip or make them feel like they did something wrong. Both days, the front desk reps were so quick to respond it made me think this was a regular occurrence. Clarion should be ashamed of themselves. To make matters worse, on the 2nd day, the woman asked me my room number to rekey it. There was a group of men waiting at the desk and isnt hotel security rule number one not to say your room number out loud??
The curtains do not block out the sun. Let me tell you how fun it was waking up at 530 am to a room that is pretty well lit even with the curtains closed. Again, something incredibly important to a business traveler. It looks like the track on the ceiling was damaged, and the curtain can only be pulled within 4 of the end of the track. Those few inches made a huge difference.
The A/C units was at least 20 years old if I had to guess and had 2 settings: high and frigid or low and HOT.
The thing I think that sent me over the edge was the iron. It was fastened to the ironing board with a cord that only stretched about 2 feet. Have we stooped so low that guests are stealing low quality hotel irons? I could not even reach the other end of the board to iron my shirt. Rediculous..
The one good thing I can say is that there is a comfortable recliner in the business-class rooms and a fully stocked desk with free internet.
I am a frequent traveler (about 20 trips a year) for work alone, and have had the opportunity to stay in a variety of places. I must say this is one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. I worked for Sheraton for 5 years, and regarded Clarion properties as one of the competition with equal quality. This has been just an awful stay and I will not be back.
